No CP stamblade brawler

You're correct on both counts actually. I need to change up my gear if I'm going to stay with a brawler/melee stamblade. I'm vamp 3 and using Gaze and Pariah and still the elite players will combo/burst me down pretty quickly. Some of them almost instantly it seems. I honestly don't know how a few of these players can kill a player in what is a pretty defensive build so quickly. It seems like they're cheating honestly. It's probably because they know how vamp 3 and Pariah work. They use a couple skills that hit me for pretty much full damage because vamp 3 I believe works like Pariah and most of the protection only kicks in when you're already low health and in execute range. Then they drop an ultimate or 2. They use stuns often and I find I can't move half the time. I guess I can try immovable pots but that could get expensive as I'd feel I have to use them constantly. I'm in no CP so instead of Pariah and Sword-Singer I was thinking Heartland Conqueror and Spriggans. What do you think? Is there some other combo of sets for stamblade no CP that you feel would be better? I would probably keep Gaze as I feel the protection and health would be pretty needed without Pariah and keep vamp level 3 unless someone wants to talk me out of 1 or both. I would probably go Serpent mundus since I'd already have a lot of pen and even 2,500 stam regen in no CP feels like not enough for me. Jewelry I'd go with a combo of weapon damage and stam recovery. Probably 1 swift jewelry. On an Orc I had decent speed but there are plenty of people using even more or ROTWH. So I will get my gear/build improved and am listening to input there. I want to get better.

What do you suggest for combo? I'll definitely admit that I've been somewhat lazy there and most of the time just kind of "wing-it" with how I play. I will go watch more PVP vidoes with experienced nightblades to see if I can pick out what they do/use. However if anyone can write out what they think a good stamblade combo would be, I'm all ears! Once I have a combo I think could be effective with it will just be time to change up the build and practice. I'm sure I'll die a lot but I'd love to get to the point where when I enter a 1v1 I can beat even good players at least half the time and 1 of the sweaty elites at least once in a blue moon. Like I said, some of them seem so effective/good that it seems almost impossible. I'm older and I just don't think my hands can keep up with them but I'll keep trying.

I tried out a build in Ravenwatch (no cp/no proc) last night that seemed interesting. It was hard to get a good read on its performance since we only had 2 bars of pop versus the pop locked AD zerg but it felt pretty good and I'm looking forward to messing with it a bit more after MYM.

    Pariah
    3 Trainee
    3 Agility
Markyn ring (both a damage and defensive set in this setup)

Between Mirage and Dark Cloak we get Major Evasion, Major Resolve, Minor Resolve, and Minor Protection. I still run RATs for root/snares and speed, both in and out of stealth. Stage 3 vamp for undeath passive. 4 heavy, 2 medium, 1 light. At max health I found myself at about 40k resists before pariah kicks in, with 30k health and 30k stamina, 2k recovery, and 5k weapon damage. Also running sharpened maul 2h for offensive penetration, sword and board back bar for defense.

I've tried builds like that before and it was kind of lackluster to be honest. There is not much penetration there. Especially compared to running Heartland Conqueror and/or Spriggan's. I'm not familiar with the term RAT. What does that stand for?
What mundus are you using on this build and what are your jewelry traits and enchants? How the heck are you getting 5k weapon damage when the only source of it I see in your description is some small amount from the Agility set and the ring?
And how are you getting 40K resists? I thought that was pretty much impossible. I thought that 20-30 was very high? I'm talking about the number you'd see in your stat sheet which wouldn't include anything for vamp 3 or Pariah.

RAT is race against time from the psijic guild skill line, clears roots and snares for 2 seconds and gives 4 seconds of major expedition (and 10 secs of minor force for what that is worth). Once I get home I'll add a screen shot of the build while buffed.

I went ahead and mocked it up in the UESP build editor. I admit I was a bit off on the armor but the rest is pretty accurate.

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=427220

Buffed stats: 32k armor front bar, 36k back bar (before Pariah scaling), 30k health, 32.5k stam, 19k mag, 2k stam recovery, 4.7k weapon damage, 8.5k pen

Looks like strong stats. My NB is Orc so there are some differences there. I'll go read what Wood Elf brings.
What armor and jewelry enchants and traits if you don't mind?

Sorry I don't use build editor much and forgot you can hover over things to see details so I missed that. Thanks for sharing. I don't really block at all so I go more reinforced and impen or Nirnhoned. Maybe I'll try some divines to help with stam recovery if I go with Serpent. You get more recovery as a Wood Elf. 1 way I was getting mine was using the Lava food. I'd love to use Artaeum but don't have the gold to run that constantly. I may try Sugar Skulls again, I have before. I'm just bummed the health recovery isn't too helpful in Cyrodiil. I was running more medium and only a couple of large armor. Maybe I'll consider using a light again for the Undaunted extra passive bonus. I definitely can improve my build I think and I'm working on it but really need to change how I play. I'm working on that as well.

You lamented earlier about weapon swap on D Pad. Here is one solution that helped me.

Move you weapon swap from D Pad left to D Pad right if you can. The difference is you have to take left thumb of left stick to reach D Pad left, and left stick is your control of physical map position. So you literally stop in place to switch weapons. On D Pad right you can use your right thumb by going underneath the left stick. You will still be able to move out of AOE, LOS this way and it makes hitting weapon swap only as inconvenient as any of your button pad skills.

Skills you use the most like your spammable should go on your shoulders since you can activate them without taking thumbs off either stick.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have any feedback on the gank build/idea?

My gankblade right now is an orc with 5pc caluurions (front bar, 2 jewelry and sash) with 1 pc heavy magma incarnate, and the rest medium Stygian with either ring of the wild hunt or markyn. 2x swift, 1x infused if wild hunt, 3 swift if markyn. all weapon damage. 4 well fitted, 3 impen. DW mace front bar (1 sharp, 1 nirn) with a defending perfected vate 2h backbar. Tri stat glyphs and warrior mundus. Lover is good too but warrior help my rally and vigor heals so better survivability there. Always stage 3 vamp. I run soul harvest over incap for the defile and ult gen because I’m getting my stun out of stealth with a DW heavy. Smoked bear haunch food and Tri stat pots. Shade, dodge roll and movement speed are your main defensive tools. My DW bar is Surprise attack, vigor, camo hunter, spectral bow(stam morph), mirage, soul harvest. 2h bar is race against time, rally, leeching strikes, invis, shade, temporal guard. I can both gank and 1vX on this build quite well. Still gotta pick your targets wisely and remember DKs hurt bad and good Templars are best left alone but my burst combo of Heavy attack, surprise attack, soul harvest, surprise attack will drop anyone under 30k in an instant. You could slot spin to win but I find that running mirage for the extra assasination passive+resistance is better. I’m sure I’m forgetting quite a bit here but this is the build I’ve farmed over 5mil AP this event with solo so far and I feel like it’s got a good mix of burst, sustain and survival and it’s definitely tons of fun to play.

The long post I made earlier is for a gank build. Sword singer + red eagle + wild hunt + 1 maga
    Nirn greatsword with onslaught.
Vamp frenzy before. Executioner, or dizzy if they didn't get hit for more than 2/3 of their hp.
I hit a bunch of 12-25k onslaughts with this. Really funny.
Use nb passive with trash pots to get ulti back.

I'll check the controller possibilities on Xbox when I get home. I looked at them when I started playing Xbox and there weren't any options I liked. I picked the one I hated least. It's too bad you can't select which action you want on which button for this game. It would be a very popular feature I'm sure if you could do this on Xbox. From what I remember there are just a few pre-configured choices you can choose from and none of them are good.

Yes this is no proc/no CP I'm talking about here. So sets are limited. Looking for ideas specifically for no proc. Was using mostly 2H skills since the tooltip damage for Nightblade class skills looks less than impressive. Have tried gear sets like Kartalin mentioned above and may go back to that. I've also tried combos of Heartland/Spriggan's, and Pariah/Sword Singer. I'll go back to the Agility/Trainee combo with Markyn and either Pariah, Spriggan's, or Heartland and see which I like best. I love using Pariah as I feel much more tanky but then my damage suffers for obvious reasons. But if I'm not using Gaze any longer I'll probably have to stick with Pariah as not doing either would be giving up too much defense for an average+ player like me. I wish there was a 3-piece set like Grace of the Ancients for stam toons. I'd probably use that instead of Agility.

    On my NB my combo is pretty much;
    Bow LA-gap closer-LA-surprise attack-LA-surprise attack-LA-incap-la-assassins will then execute.
You can proc assassin's will before engaging, but you need to use it after incap, which will have more damage on your target that is affected by incap. That deals a lot more damage then ulti. Just spam some LA on randoms before engaging your main target, and have it at ready.

Hi, I don't play NB (I play templar) but I enjoying theory crafting and only play no-cp.

I made this one if a few mins, you could probably refine it more to your liking. A lot of nbs seem to hate templar so I went with evasion, surprised I don't see more people running it with there being a fair few templars it's a very hard counter to them.

You could run more heavy or a light mixture, this seemed to give the most damage sitting at 10k effective weapon power (5.5k wd with 12k pen). Resist at first glance seems low, but back bar with ancient dragon guard you're at about 24k. I personally think pariah is overrated, I used to run it but it did gimp damage a fair bit for me, so I tend to go for dragon guard instead.

You can stack maim with your minor protection so will help with some percent mitigation. Recovery seems low too but, providing you're running stam pots you should be able to sustain pretty well with incap passive + siphoning strikes. You'll have fairly high crit too with minor and major savagery, so will help in the heal department.

Healing is pretty poor, but with mitigation you should be able to heal through damage, dodging if needs be. You could drop shade for a heal, but I don't know what'd be best there (cloak didn't seem worth it for such a short duration with low hps)

As with traits, I tend not to run full impen, your highest mitigation for being tanky is blocking, so I went for sturdy small, you could run some more impen if you wanted

As for in general always make sure to HA before incap so you get a large damage boost. Also have turn evil slotted for more damage for bigger heals on top of an ability to drop block.

Overall it's a pretty cheap set up, mainly running a crafted set (chest is from daggerfall starting area, no need to transmute)

I should mention too you'd have very high stat density too so plenty to dodge and block.

    Here's the link to it : https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=430355

quick edit to say, if you wanted you could drop shade for revealing flare for the 10% damage reduction on the back bar.

I am NOT a brawler, I am an irritational, in and out aggrivator with kill you potential. :) If you say you are a new nb, you need speed. Speed, my son will make the sad lessons a nb must learn less frequent.
This build is fast, survivable, and slippery. No, not uber bursty, but the speed will make those 3 or 4 extra hits you need to win possible:
    Sithis helm
    Jailbreaker
    Witchnight
1 piece moster- pick one I use one that regens mag and stam all in 1.
    2 heavy 5 med
mostly divines for me, but impen or well fitted will help depending on your play
Steed mundus with jailbreaker jewelry swifted out.
    Sugar skulls food
(some of our folks do wild hunt ring and sacrifice a bit of tankiness of Sithis)
This should have you over 4k dmg buffed, 22-2300 regen (with res buff)-vamp 2, 32k stam(ish) and somewhere between 6-9k pen. brawler nb are studs, but be ready to die from backup if you don't finish them quick. I rarely die from the heavy-incap-executioner guys as much as I would a leap/whip dk. Anymore in Ravenwatch no cp, only Drunk Legolas seems to have the "kill you before you finish your first breath" skill set. I know EP has some *Blap* killers now like Bishop, but a true nb brawler outside of our gang "Bowz in the Hood," I couldn't even think of one. Maybe God of War? Our NB group spends most of it's rez time on the Melee faithful. In no-cp its just tough. There is a cyro set Ward of Cyrodill that we were just looking at for our melee folks. When you deal Martial melee damage, you apply Major Defile to the enemy for 4 seconds, reducing their healing received and Health Recovery by 16%. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds. We all work as a team, so we look at most sets that way. That may be solid for you paired with spriggs? Spriggs and witchnight, heartland and spriggs, lover mundus style, try it all.

I play no CP and tried many sets. Unfortunately I just can't make NB competitive in 1v1 vs. any decent player. I'm sure a lot of that is my skill or speed pressing buttons. But I see the differences in healing and other useful class skills and it just seems NB is so far down the line compared with most other classes.

NB has stealth? That's great. It only lasts about 2-seconds in reality before you need to cast it again and everyone decent is using a counter anyway so it's just about useless.

Shadow Image? Sure it could help you live a few seconds longer maybe in a big fight with lots of people backing you up. If you're 1v1 what is the point? If the other player is decent they can figure out when and where you will appear and since your healing sucks as a NB and you class damage skills are lackluster at best this skills isn't going to help you win fights. Bottom line is at least in no CP NB can't do as much damage and has less useful skills vs. other classes and worse healing as well

I gave up and am just about to take a magplar for a spin. ESO clearly wants people playing some classes over others or they'd have some decent balance.
