How often do you use the 'death RECAP' feature?

It's information, who doesn't use it?

Then again I know a lot of people don't, especially in PvP because you get told your cheating for killing them in 2 seconds, yet if they looked at recap they would see dots ticked for like 20 times etc

yes, there are often stacking effects which were applied long before those few last hits reported kicked in - that is why this recap is not really that helpful. But they are helpful, when you got killed by something pretty much immediately - where you were at full health and a moment later dead - this cannot be stacking effects of DoT - this is massive burst damage.

    Never.
I don't play content that I have a chance of dying... unless it's fall damage... "watch that last step... it's a doozy"!

I only use it in dungeons so I know what has killed me so I am more aware next time.

when I play PvP, to see what killed me, when I play PvE, just curious to see what was the damage, usually when playing trials
Everyone is going in one direction, I'm going the other direction

Never, it’s just there to tell me that I did something stupid and I died.

    Thanks for nothing!

    It’s pointless.

Pretty much every single time unless it was something really stupid or really obvious. If you don't know what is killing you, you can't adapt so it doesn't happen again.

This is one of my first pieces of advice when I am talking someone through a place like VMA the first time. It is also insanely useful when prog'ing new content. In PVP, it's essential if you dont want to be Cannon Fodder.

Mostly because it was toggled on and I haven't changed it. But, as others have said, in going through PvE content for the first time it's very useful. It provides you with the info you need in understanding and adapting to the mechanics of whatever you're facing.

It's a must in PvP. Especially when you hit a nice lag spike/desync and then all of a sudden your resource pools are empty from pressing the same button one too many times trying to get the skill to fire, and now your body is floating around on the ground. The recap can then explain to you that it was not just one player, but 3 that somehow managed to hit you simultaneously, and from seemingly out of nowhere. And you can sit back and think "well that'll do it".

For PvP I almost always use it. In PvE it's more for those occasions where I just don't know what's killing me (Typically in a newer dungeon).

I usually check the recap when I get a death that seems really suspicious, but that's the only time usually.

The death recaps in PVP are absolutely wild. If you think ZOS has a handle on combat in this game and what it thinks balance is, spend some time in Cyrodiil and look at the death recaps. It’s an eye opening experience to say the least.
lol indeed ... Lately i've been getting killed by either 'ice comet' or whatever the heck TEMPLARS keep spamming at me :s

btw , THANKS everyone for all the replies & votes so far!

Never really tells what killed me. I use in battlegrounds cause I am waiting to revive and have no choice

Never in pve cause I usually know what I did or who to blame. Also got to type

    WTS one glorious orb
    WTB life

Rez me I am important (Tank or healer)

I got to pay more attention what's happening after I died in pve. I need to know how I respond or who to go save after I gain life

It's largely useless but it can sometimes help you deduce what may be killing you. More often than not I use it to find out which enemy abilities are desynced. You'd be surprised how many PvE enemies have desynced AoE attacks.

The advice portion is good for a laugh:

It's usually very obvious how I died. But on occasion I need to check. But it is quite infrequent. That said, I leave it on, but don't pay attention to it most of the time.

Always. Or nearly always, unless its obvious. Doing harder content, it is often not obvious, or you can be mistaken. Best way to learn is understand why.

    Greetings community,

i recently posted another Poll about a totally separate wish-list type topic , but i was also curious as to how many (or if ) players still use the post-death 'recap' button, showing the last 5 attacks* used by final enemy.
( *i don't use any add-ons nor game-mods , so for me this somewhat limited feature seems to be the same as it's always been since BETA , iirc )

    Thanks!

I love the tips it gives you.

“Try adding more health to increase your survivability.”

And for 20-man zerges that instakill you, “Try using aspect of terror to even the odds!”

It's always a good idea to know what killed you, at least in PvP.
I think it needs to be more informative tho, especially if it's a one-shot kill mechanic in a dungeon

    Only in PVP.
Adding this, it has helped a lot knowing what sets people use in PvP. But this is only with the new sets and I think it only shows the sets that cause damage, so no buff or debuffing sets.
