It's sad that people just blatantly drop comments like this about content in the forums considering the amount of time an work the team puts into creating it in the first place.

This isn't even a discussion, it's just someone declaring that they don't like something. So here is a tip, if you don't like it don't buy it otherwise, there's no need for an announcement.

I'll definitely buy it as all new content generally has something to offer.

I'm not particularly interested in the card game as I generally don't go for minigames, but I can't imagine why I wouldn't want to run around a new land mass, talk to new people, listen to new music, check out new armour, etc.

My first ever Elder Scrolls character was a Breton, back in Oblivion. I remember the art in the booklet that came with the game disc, that sketch with the high cheekbones and long fingers. They sounded and looked super cool! Unfortunately their actual design in the games has never been much like that (although I max the pointy ears on all my Bretons in ESO), and their propensity for magic and interesting Direnni heritage always gets glossed over. But I'm always game for more lore. Maybe they'll add in cool magic things. Maybe it'll all be medieval feudal knightly chivalry stuff. Who knows? One way to find out!
PC NA, CP2200+. Character creation is the true endgame.

I liked Blackwood's quests. I think the biggest issue with Blackwood is that once you've done the quests, there's not that much of a reason to go back there unless you just like walking around in a pretty setting, or want to do crafting in Leyawiin. Leyawiin is a gorgeous city.

Holy irony, Batman! For all my negativism re: QA failures and Furor's announcement, I quite enjoyed Blackwood, love Bastian and what he adds to my adventuring; and because most of my alts are Breton, I'm looking forward to High Isle. I'm definitely not excited, however, because management ineptitude will doubtless break the game again upon launch. But that does not take away me looking forward to the expansion and a female companion who's not ugly as a rusted bucket.

Greymoor was boring and Blackwood was so bad I didn't even get past the second quest. Did the companion quest, never have used it once.

Not interested in a card game or more companions that I'll never use.

Nothing here for me in next expansion. Swore I wouldn't spend another penny on the game till they fix pvp.

    The AWA is an abomination.

As a progressive Altmer, I'm against of the idea of high elves dominating all of Tamriel. I'm fine with Summerset and Auridon. We got enough problems in our lands to deal with the others.

I am brand new to the party for ESO and I started in Blackwood and I thought the story was pretty darn good. I then finished Greymoor and I thought that story was not as good as Blackwood. The vampire part of Greymoor was cool and the werewolves. But, the story could have been not as long with all the fluff added. I also play on PC and started a brand new Nord Warden character and my choice was the Bleakrock Isles starting zone. Now, I am just following the storyline and completing everything I can to 100% completion. I have already done that in Bleakrock Isles, with the exception of catching this particular fish. I do look forward to seeing what Morrowind, Summerset and Elsewyer have to offer. But, when High Isle launches, I am definitely going to play through that expansion first. I find that the stories and lore of ESO is far more superior than WOW or even Guild wars 2. The world is also just incredible to look at. Zenimax gets two copies of everything being bought with me to cover PC and XBOX. I even have ESO Plus on XBOX. Great game! I hope they keep this yearly thing going.

High Isle if anything seem to be an attempt to make Bretons less "boring", so to me it's definitly worth checking out.

While I have always played with the AD alliance (I just think Queen Ayrenn is the most sympathetic to ALL races), the problem is a great many Altmer don't agree and would probably use the AD rule as a means to handicapping the other races. Having just played through Skyrim, I now see what's coming... too bad Ayrenn's attitude didn't spread to the other Altmer.

That being said, I think the Breton's have gotten a negative rep so far in ESO... however... I use Darien and even Jakarn as my example of what a Breton SHOULD be... just as I use Queen Ayrenn as an example of what an Altmer SHOULD be. So if we manage to find even more Bretons like Darien and Jakarn, I'll be happy!!

Jakarn...an amoral mercenary thief always looking for his next big score and the next female he can con. Darien...self-aggrandizing bed-hopping self-serving would-be lothario. And you want to find more of them?

First time you meet Jakarta he's in prison for jewel theft. You break him out, and he lies andmakes you backtrack and use another exit because a woman he lied to is at the main door. He won't go with you until you fight through a tribe of goblins and retrieve the jewel he stole. When you catch up to him he's in the process of duping another female. My character was not impressed.

Darien you meet for the first time after fighting through a fort full of werewolves. You then fight more of them to get to fight more of them to get to Darien. Who then sends you out to collect weapons and armor through more werewolves, alone. He next sends you out, alone again, to protect a militia member who has to light the signal fires. You then get to fight the resurrected werewolf leader, again alone. Darien promises help from archers, but no in-person help with the fight from him or even a generic militia member. He does, however, take every opportunity to flirt with your character if female. I won't mention needing to fight through North point vampires, to find Darien in the captain's quarters, shirtless, and the captain sleeping off his "gathering information". Others are fighting, killing and dying, and he's having a snack in the captain's guarters. My character was not impressed.

Then you must be disappointed with the overwhelming majority of the NPC characters in this game! If you found these two bad, there are much much worse... and few better. You must have forgotten, Darien who also goes on to sacrifice himself TWICE in the game!! Then there is Jakarn who also makes up later for his initial missteps.

I must say that perhaps I'm easily amused but I love Darien the bar-hopping carouser, Jakarn the charming opportunistic liar and thief, my very own but rather thirsty Mirri and Bastain love their wine and mead as well as in Mirri's case some naughty thieving ;)

Glad your enjoying the game. GW2 PVE is just plain excruciating imho. ESO has something for everyone regardless of your play style. I enjoy both PVE and PVP in this game. I like theory crafting and being able to solo difficult content while still having the option to group if I want to. Really you could just run around and there is always something worthwhile to do.

I'm going to check it out on PTS, then buy it on sale much later. I still haven't done Blackwood other than get Bastian. I like having a tank on hand to keep aggro off some of my DPS toons. $15. Seems about right. From what I can tell, this one is worth about the same.

That's been a fact in TES since the 90s, we just didn't see any of them until Elsweyr. There's quite a lot more to create for Bretons, although I think they said something about druids, which could be a blast from TES' distant past.

Really. Darien "sacrificing" himself, or Meridia using her tool as she planned? No, I didn't forget. I just don't see it as a "sacrifice" due to story. His personality doesn't really change beyond irritation with Meridia. His dialogue :

Barbas: "Now it's my turn. Let me use the gift my master gave you and I'll get you to the Crystal Tower."
Sotha Sil: "Heed Mephala's advice and keep your companions close to the diamond. Without it, you would be lost in the darkness between realities.
Now, recover the Heart and restore Transparent Law. Just remember, you must find a relic imbued with divine energy."
Valsirenn: "Leythen, promise me you'll keep them safe!"
    Leythen: "I promise Val."
Darien: "Oriandra, if I die saving the world, know that our brief time together has made me a better man."
Oriandra: "What are you talking about?"
Darien: "Shh, it's all right to cry. I'll do my best to return to you, I promise."
Oriandra: "What just happened? What's that crazy knight talking about?"

Um...yeah. Flirting with people who aren't even paying attention when you are attempting to save the world is not the most attractive trait someone can have. The altmer Leythan makes much more of a sacrifice. Your character ends up doing the boss fight alone again. As for Jakarn... he gets involved in another heist, drags you into it too, cheats at cards, gets his friend sold into slavery, gets you poisoned, and the whole thing results in the friend dead. I didn't realize that making up for initial missteps involved a body count. Of course he didn't intend for that to happen, but oh well, off for a drink and the next heist.

I judge a region more for it's landscape than for it's story content - and especially in Blackwood where the transition from grassy plains to marshy environments (when you get nearer to Shadowfen to the east) is so nicely done, I stand in awe for it's design (well, I like transitions like that, if they are not that obvious, but transition smoothly). Just exploring there and digging up antiquities has given me a quite enjoyable time in Blackwood - and I have not even touched the main story line there yet.

I intend to take my time - with TES6 not coming out anytime soon, there are plenty of years ahead to enjoy Tamriel at a slow pace. And as far as HIgh Isle goes, I wait for reviews of the card game - if it is good, I will buy it quickly, if it is meh, I might just wait for it to be a DLC. I enjoyed and played Qwent in Witcher a whole lot, so I am curious what the card game in HIgh Isle will be like.
