I didn't care much for Skyrim Nostalgia&Game of Thrones fanservice Year of the Dragon.
I didn't care much for TES V Dawnguard&Vampire fanservice Dark Heart of Skyrim.
I wasn't even all that into rebranded Mythic Dawn & Oblivion Crisis Gates of Oblivion.
The year-long story system is the MMO equivalent of putting all your eggs in one basket. Yes, there's loads of benefits for the team like focused marketing, cohesive designs, reusing assets, epilogues that require buying both story pieces, and really hooking the players who are totally into the theme. So I have no doubt that ZOS will continue to produce new year-long stories.
But it is all the eggs in one basket. When a player isn't interested in the theme, that's a whole year where there's not a whole lot of content to keep them logging into ESO.
@Vanya I am curious about what you liked so much regarding the Greymoor story and setting. And I am not asking with sarcasm.
In my opinion (having played all the chapters in order, after the base game), Greymoor had the weakest story, that only got better with the Reach DLC. The Reach DLC was enjoyable, the dwemer setting, fascinating. However, the main Greymoor story was very predictable. From the 1st interaction with the king I could tell that something was off, that he was under a spell, curse, whatever. The female heroine part was also boring after we had the same type of character (Khamira) in Elsweyr.
Also, the hype of returning to Skyrim did not hold up to the expectations. Greymoor was a missed opportunity. Most of the quests were forgettable or their plot predictable, copy paste from other stories. Visually it is beautiful, but that was it. There was no extra depth to the Nords and their culture, we got the same drunktard stereotypes. The vampire theme was better implemented though.
Regarding Blackwood, I tend to agree that it could have been better. For my taste, there was too little imperial content, in favor of more Murkmire Argonian stuff.
Speaking of story, I tend to agree with the majority, that Daedric plots were becoming the norm, and people who play this game for a long time got bored with the theme. Maybe you didn't play so much, or you really enjoy them, which is OK. But for me, everywhere I go, there is some daedric curse, spell, minion etc, it's kind of repetitive. If High Isle delivers a fresh, interesting plot, I would be happy. Let's take this as a chance to enjoy something different.
Bretons might not be interesting to you, but I see them (as the Blackwood imperials) as a missed opportunity. The devs did not covered much of these races lore and culture. The older TES games created a different image of these races. In ESO, the Bretons and Imperials are generic fantasy human races, losing much of their Elder Scrolls identity. I hope this will not repeat with High Isle, otherwise I will share your disappointment. But what I am trying to say is that Bretons could be a very interesting race and High Isle has a great potential to be a fascinating chapter. I hope the devs will deliver this time, because everything else they announced for this year is disappointing to me.
I hate Bretons and Imperial mini mouses. They're irritating me. Roast them for the hist and Superior Aldmeri Dominion! Hear , hear da hist! Hear da hist! I want High elves to rule entire Tamriel with inferior wood elves are servants and Khajiti. I hate Blackwood, I hate High Isle. I am going to log in and play older content. I love my impossibly gorgeous Altmer sorcerer and anything Altmer related. Tis my last post on forums. You mortals do enjoy time with ugly Imperials in Cyrodil, overrated Dagon and Bretons the Boring,.

How many times does Sammy have to remind people: don’t mix moon sugar with hist sap!

This; I left the game for a little less than two years [snip]. I’m hoping Fargrave is a sign they learned to diversify a little within the theme. *still hoping for Pyandonea in Q4*

What do I like though are not the crates but the fact that none of the really expensive houses beat Hunding's except Ebonheart Chateaux so I am not tempted to spend 100.00 on a house.

I will only tell you human that thou shalt be disappointed. Problem with individuals like you is their firm believe and a bearing false hope in something that will ultimately lead to absolutely inevitable disappointment. Titanborn was of the coolest characters , her voice, appearance, lines, She is classic. Skyrim setting is iconic , massive Blackreach, How can I possibly explain thee what I liked, Skyrim is Legendary , only a mudcrab can dislike anything related to Huh-Huah-Heh! And Dawns in fire! Weakest is a point of view. Why he liked it, Why is that, tastes cannot be defined. Ultimately is pointless. However what I find completely shocking is how can a soul love generic, dull, useless bland ,predictable {irony} humanoid Breton race over other high fantasy monsters, stories related again to paranormal, devilish, deadric or Demon. Whatever you wish to call it. Deadra are the worst threat of them all. I has to evolve around them. What else do you want? Something completely and entirely, new? Perhaps some entity or a God. We can never agree nor i want to spend my precious time writing essays and stories why do I find quests here and there greater than you. For Blackwood. I hated all about it , setting, Return of Eveli ,Eastern region reminded me a lot on Murkmire and fact one could spot clone companions on every corner. ESO has billions of quests and dialogue, What can I say to put it simply I did not. Why do you dislike some human being. There are regions, characters, plots, dialogue that one cannot stand and ends with it. It does not matter what kind of story will be there or fashioned lore, ancient culture because I cannot stand them. Period. Yea older games, but but you cannot delve in the past. The only exception of humanoid race are the Nords but they are extreme sole exception Indeed. Dovahkiin, their culture, setting, and all is what captured my heart and I find them funny and different. People who hate Nords will tell otherwise, be my guest to pick some dull Knight over a literal Demi-God who wields the power of Thu'um and their mighty warriors. Yes ES5 Skyrim did played massive role. I can say the same for Morrowind or Oblivion fans, would they not anticipate Morrowind or Blackwood expansion then if they hadn't played TES series back then? I can already picture. Bretons are closet you can possibly get to real humans. Their architecture, appearance classic Knights. You cannot get possibly closer. Just look at the fascinating Redguards, they are even MORE interesting. I think HAMMERFELL should have been next.Their lore and history is super intriguing and fighting spirit. I say THEy are the missing potential. Hammerfell is massive and a lot of places are left intact. I cannot believe they picked Bretons over Redguards. I have a redguard Templar and Akavir Desert is one my favorite regions and Sai Sahan is the most badass character in entire ESO universe and always will be. I have some feeling TES6 will be set in Hammerfell, why do devs hesitate to give them expansion or bigger update. Hammerfell is the only region left with enormous potential. Pretty much rest of Tamriel had been heavily used. I do not want to dig over my past but I posted a thread of Hammerfell expansion and full map last year I believe.

pyandonea deserves a chapter or an entire game about it, not a simple dlc

I like all of the expansions, just like some of them more than others. A nice change from the usual stuff, especially when you finish all of the quests, skyshards, dungeons, etc in the other zones.
Problem with Bretons is the exceedingly humanoid appearance and typical Knightly culture. They are by far the least intriguing race of them all. I already know I won't like it. I cannot bare the look at them. The idea of being engrossed ,chained and consumed within their Isle ,story and typical recycled skins, weapons, mounts and I have to say High Isle is already not appealing to me. Tormenting thoughts and visions. One does not need to play. This Breton often referred as Boring world will be the worst expansion of them all. Bretons are so insanely dull. They do not deserve the expansion. I would be more satisfied with Akavir or Yokuda continent. Immense mistake. Further Hammerfell add-ons had to be done. Alas for tis too late now. There is plenty of expansion in Tamriel. Embrace High Isle should you wish so , mortals. Nothing ever shall surpass the Illustrious magnificence of Aldmeri Dominion and Incomparable Summerset!
