Not an MMO, but everything that was in Oblivion that's missing here.

Diving, Spellcrafting, properly functioning Oblivion gate events, NPC dialogue system instead of the same old same old over and over again in the same spot, Heavy weather effects, Shivering Isles overland zone, etc, etc.

Account-wide recipes like in GW2, shared/instanced resource nodes like in GW2, maintenance and patching without taking down the entire system (Dare I say it again? Like in GW2. I have the suspicion that the ESO devs could learn some things if they occasionally logged into this ancient game.) Also, how about a proper "armory" system, uhm, like in GW2? Meaning all items that are stored in a build are actually stored in a build and don't clutter up a character's inventory any more. Having to keep all twelve items of a build in the character inventory at all times is extremely annoying, especially if the character can function in several different roles with little gear overlap.

SW:TOR collections system, when you want a set item you just select it from your collections and create it right then and there, no cost, and when you don't want it you just junk it out of your inventory and create it again later if needed

    Global auction house from WoW

An ESO version of the addon "Weak Auras 2" from WoW

The armory system from WoW (where you can view a character's gear, achievements, build, stats, etc. on the website)

2v2 and 3v3 team pvp arenas from WoW with associated rating system and titles

Larger trials as in WoW Raids (8, 10, 12, 16 bosses, e.g.) with saved progress

Random item drops with random bonus effects, random stats, etc. (Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Fallout 4 sorta)

A functional implementation of the planned concept from Everquest Next that would have allowed player actions to both directly and indirectly modify both the environment and objects in the environment. Cut down too many trees and turn a forest into a desert, expand buildings or damage them,

The staggeringly large number of titles from Lord of the Rings Online. Kill a lot of skeevers and become Playername the Skeever Slayer, etc.

Also from LOTRO i think? (may have been only in concept stage?) the abilities for players to "take over" NPC's / monsters and control them, including levelling up monsters by killing players with them.

The Alternate Advancement (AA) systems from Everquest and pre-NGE Star Wars Galaxies, where you could level your characters entirely through crafting or other skills without ever having to kill anything. SWG, in particular, had one of the most robust (and very ahead of its time) crafting systems of any MMO before or since.

    EQ's bard class.

Massively impractical nowadays, but in The Realm Online when it was still being run by Sierra, GM's used to hold trivia contests in chat and award rare items as prizes, or throw random events in-game for players' birthdays / holidays/ whatever. For instance, at Easter, some monsters would randomly drop Easter Eggs with special loot.

I'm not sure anything other than an auction house would be the least bit controversial, except maybe larger trials as an option.
I can't imagine having a character armory or pvp arenas would cause any issues. The only thing I would change would be to have an "opt out" for armory for people who didn't want others looking at their character's gear.

In my opinion, in TESO you just need to add a guild house that would be tied to the guild itself in order to avoid fraud, for example.
All other options (related to what was said above) are simply not needed in this game. Everything we have now is what makes TESO so unique, interesting and attractive. This is how it should remain. Especially "Global auction house from WoW" - let's kill the unique mechanic, and with it 100+ guilds.

The only thing that I would really like to see ESO have that other MMOs do is more earnable mounts. As in, get them from completing content, or in the content, rather than crownstore. Otherwise I quite like ESO the way that it is, barring the performance issues of course.

What do you mean!? Just get godslayer and planesbreaker right...?

Ok but honestly, I agree so much with this, we need more earnable rewards of all kinds. Gear or materials isn't a good enough reward.

    From that old classic Runescape:

    Dungeonering

Basically a randomly generated dungeon every time you enter it. Random rooms connect to other random rooms/halls. There are many different room types which can feature any of the following:

    Room full of monsters
Event rooms with mini puzzles to solve
    Boss Rooms
    Gather resource rooms
    Etc etc

Imagine the possibilities! Rare furnishings from super rare rooms/bosses etc. This is the ultimate end game grind and a fun one!

Of course it would be a New Game System so wouldn't come anytime soon. But that just means it gives ZOS enough time to create an account on Runescape and play it for a bit to get the gist of it all. :p

I'm confused . . . while I understand wanting ESO to be its own thing, do you not want larger raids, seemless zone traveling, and more earnable options in game (mounts/pets/hair styles)?

Do I want endless reputation grinds from WoW? Absolutely *** not lol. But I would love to have crown crate mounts or other crown store mounts be earnable in game. I think the crown store is necessary since the subscription is "optional." But, to have it as fleshed out as they do is beyond excessive which 99% of ESO players will agree with. Also, I'd love a true open world similar to new world without loading screens. That'd be great! And more class identity in regards to class-specific quest lines, item sets, etc. would be great! But I definitely don't think that ESO's servers could handle 25 man raids since they're barely able to handle 12 currently lol. Cheers!

GMs online at all times on every megaserver whenever the game us up, with authority to instantly deal with harassment, cheating/exploits, and botting. Also with the power to advance manually bugged and stuck quests, glitched rewards and achievements, and deal with other minor bug effects that come up.

You know, one of the non-negotiable, non-optional costs of running an MMO.

All my other misgivings about Fallout76 they did 3 things very right.
    • Players have the ability to build a home\base\camp\temple\roadside Fish n' Chips stand, nearly ANYWHERE on the map.
Every time I see an awesome location in Tamriel the thought hits me how cool it would be to build something there.
In Fo76 the camps live in overland (per instanced server) and really add to the feel of the game, seeing structures built by other players.
I realize it's likely impossible to implement in ESO without and entire overhaul of the game, but I can dream.
    • The option to go into the live world (pub), or play on a "private" server. Basically just a separate instance from the live game where it's just you (or ppl from your friends list). In a regular private world you have access to all the content, quests, achievements, your homes and it will carry over to the pub world if you go live. (AMAZING for farming or if you are just NOT in the mood to deal with ppl)
      In ESO? Again, likely impossible.
    • The ability to earn Atoms (Crowns) IN THE BLOODY GAME. I actually came to ESO from Fo76 and was surprised there was no option to earn Crowns by completing achievements. Fo76 has this (scaled back a bit since beta, but still there)
"bUt EnDeAvOrS!" Yah, I know. But it's not the same. The things you can spend seals on is heavily limited. For example, if I want to purchase more snow piles from the Crown Store I can't use seals.
So it would be nice if we could earn extra crowns in-game.
Possible? Very. But likely? Probably as much as a snow pile's chance in Oblivion.

Server channels. Some Chinese and Japanese games divide zone instances into various channels. Most of them are generic, all purpose. Some are labeled as RP, photography, trading, dueling and so on. Devices similar to ESO wayshrines can be used not only to fast travel, but also to browse all active instances of a zone and join the ones that are not full yet. Guilds often look for less populated instances to host guild events. This system also allows people to avoid repeatedly loading into bugged instances.

    LOTS of things:

-return of some linearity in how you experience zones so the story can make sense.
-mounts earned in game via exploration, dungeons, raids, crafting, world bosses
-pets earned in game via exploration, dungeons, raids, crafting, world bosses
    -hide any gear slot
-other cosmetics earned in game via exploration, dungeons, raids, crafting, world bosses
-removal of cash shop, revert to subscription
    -auction house
-show character name only, never user name (I always feel like this is a security issue honestly, why do people get to see my username?)
-increase in max number of characters
-areas that exist just for fun (like FFXIV's Gold Saucer, Deep Dungeons, Map Dungeons, the entire Manderville chain with its boss encounters...)

And something that isn't from another game because it only seems to exist in ESO: Mount leveling should be doable by using the mount, not just visiting a NPC once per day. It would make the process faster, more interesting, and people can do it by actually engaging with the world. Run around to increase speed, take hits for armor etc.
