We lost some story bits and character dialogue because they were attached directly to achievements, and I'm still heartbroken about it because it was some of my fav characters....

All my characters now know the same number BUT those characters that haven't actually "found" them ofc don't have the corresponding number of skill points available AND the undiscovered icons are missing for those characters now!!
It's going to be a damn nightmare trying to work this one out for me. I have several low level characters that I level in Below 50 PVP, on those characters I would just go collect a few skyshards as I needed more skill points. Now I don't understand how I'm supposed to "know" which skyshards I have collected and which I haven't.
Please somebody tell me I'm being stupid and missing something?

We begged ZOS to delay this update so all the bugs could be fixed. We begged ZOS to find a better way to implement this. They ignored 91 pages of feedback on PTS. We told them that individual character tracking was a mess. They ignored us.
Terrible. In a single stroke half the pleasure of raising a new toon has gone away.
And in the 3+ hrs of gaming I dedicated to this new patch I haven't seen a single improvement in performance.

No, that sounds like how it was working on the PTS. Yes, it was annoying and I remember there being discussions on the PTS threads asking ZOS to fix it before it hit live.
Whether or not this is intended is a different story. I hope it's not intentional, I feel like it would be rather silly if it was, but I don't remember us getting any communication from ZOS that gave their official stance on this.

You sure its a bug, and not ‘working’ as intended because this wasn’t thought through or decently tested before going live?! 🤣🤣

Getting a small dopamine rush when you accomplish an achievement on an alternate character, especially in a different role, or a class you're not as familiar with.
Being able to track what each character has done in the game, if you play them as individuals.
Immersion of players having a "Thief" title and achievement on a character who has never stolen anything.
There's 91 pages of "feedback" (I put in quotes because feedback usually means two way, which it wasn't), of all the different things players "lose" in this.
Skyshards are a huge mess. All my characters are missing a lot of them, but if any single character ever picked up any one of them, it seems it won't show up for all others.
I have an add-on that shows 'completed skyshards' so I should be able to find the ones I'm missing easily enough? No. Characters that haven't gotten them won't have them show up with that either.
The most worrisome impact is how intrusive this change was. I have never seen them mess with character data/ progress like this before. On top of that, this isn’t optional and I doubt it would even be reversible.

It's unbelievable that they would actually implement this in a game that quite heavily relies on those skyshards. I don't see any reason to start a new character unless there is a method to track which skyshards have been acquired.
Spending that amount of time running around the entire map just to discover you've got them is a pointless waster of time and effort.
If they went this route I would have expected them to grant the skyshards to all characters, not just wipe out all progress.
