I fully agree! I end up nabbing the bugs accidentally many times when they fly in front of a node. And no Mirri, not other source of butterfly wings and torchbug thoraxes exists.

Bastian's comments are even more annoying, even though they don't cost you anything. Why is killing a spider or bug wasteful or cruel?

I am stopping using him much because he is a good 2 shoes with few redeeming qualities.

I do have to make sure I dismiss Mirri before doing Dark Brotherhood stuff though.

And I like her personality. She's just nice.

Are we talking about the same Mirri?

I find her passive aggressive, attention seeking, guilt tripping, rude, always calling others "fetchers" and "s'wit" which I was told are curse words. There is not one single thing I like about her.

Let's say you needed help moving over on the weekend. You ask your group of friends. Most of them say "sure" or "yes." One of them is says "ugh fine, I'll be there with freaking bells on."

Come moving day most of the ones that said sure actually flaked out to do fun things. But your sarcastic friend is there to help you move with an "You owe me a beer for this fetcher. C'mon the sooner we do this the sooner I get pizza." And a sly wink. They help you for hours until everything is done.

Mirri is the sarcastic friend with pizza. Bastian is one that just said "yes" and showed up quietly and did what he'd said he'd do, maybe cracks a few dad jokes while y'all are moving.

Both of them have your back. That's how I see them. Mirri may tease but she definitely has your back and tries to do right by her friends and others. I've known a few Mirris, relate to her a bit myself.

This right here is EXACTLY how I interpret Mirris personality and why I love her so much.

And...oddly enough, your analysis of Bastian made me like him a little bit more. Might play with him again on an alt and see how I feel about him on a character whose idea align more with his.
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause
    Legends never die

I just don't see her that way. Nothing she says sounds like teasing to me. Don't get me wrong, I have sarcastic friends who we give each other a hard time in a fun way, but it just doesn't feel like that with Mirri.

Maybe if she ever said anything encouraging, or chuckled after a sarcastic comment, but she doesn't. It's all just negative, except for wanting to try the local fare. That's the only thing she says that makes her seem somewhat friendly and like a companion and not a disgruntled employee.

She actually does have purely positive dialogue. Sometimes she addresses you with titles of respect like Sera and F'lah, she thinks you like a legend of Vehk (she worships the Three so that's a very high compliment from her) probably the highest compliment she can think of. Sometimes when you read a book she says she'll try to remember which genres you like. And if you max out her rapport she admits to being poor at expressing her true feelings and tells you sincerely that you mean a lot to her.

I definitely agree the occasional chuckle would probably help showcase she's just teasing or a few more words of encouragement could go further in developing her character. I think that's true of all the companions honestly.

That explains a lot. I only maxed rapport with her on one character just to get the houseguest, and that is a character I don't spend a lot of time on now so I guess I only get the neutral responses. I didn't realize their responses changed with rapport, and that is a grind I don't wish to repeat ever again.

The bit about appreciating you and being awkward are said when you talk to her directly rather than dialogue that autoplays. That dialogue changes depending on your relationship with the companion. There's like 4ish stages I want to say of dialogue options: like, love, dislike, and hate.

Yes, we are, Mirri has a great personality. I don't find her " passive-aggressive, attention-seeking, guilt-tripping, rude" in the slightest. I like the fact she speaks her mind, then again one of my favourite NPCs in the game is the Dark Elf captain at Fort Arand...

If I hadn't already promised her to @SammyKhajit I'd offer her to you.

I levelled up both companions (both skill-wise and rapport-wise) some time ago. Of the two I found Bastian as a tank more useful and his dialogue the easiest to cope with. I found Mirri's dialogue annoying and her skills less useful. But now I am finding even Bastian's comments annoying and his skills less useful. The AI is still badly lacking and there should be an option to turn their dialogue off completely.

The idea that two new companions are one of the reasons for buying the new expansion (on top of a card game) does nothing for me and I am not looking forward to levelling them. Plus they are both female.

The option to turn dialogue off has been asked for many time before. Pity ZOS doesn't listen to us.

I haven't fired Mirri or Bastian. I really like the companions concept. However their dialog is too limited and gets very boring quite fast.A suggestion would be to expand their vocalized phrases tenfold.

As an Altmer I find her venerations of the three heretics offensive! To add insult to injury, her constant attributing my abilities to the Warrior-Poet is disconcerting, and really has pushed me to the limits of my tolerance for these heretical Dunmer that blindly trust in the whims of greater mortals pretending to be gods.

You’d think after all the dolmens we’ve taken down together she’d have gathered more insights on how they work. Our time in Fargrave seems to have completely escaped her. I’m not even sure she’s aware that we’ve been there. I hope Vehk can help you find a new employer. I will take my chances with the Khajit when she arrives.

It's a matter of personal preferences. We are different and we like different kind of people, that's completely normal. I like Mirri, never found her passive agressive. Love her "Nah, I wasn't worried...". I even like "Problem, sera?", when I just want to harvest a node and she's in the way:) Bastian on the other hand... I can't stand his conceited tone when he speaks about love and magic or cities like people. Ugh...

It took a long time to get her leveled and rapport maxed so I could have the house guest, but I just can't take it any more. I warned her that if she said "You fetcher!" or "Next time you can help me with something." or "I'm still here, thanks for asking." in her smug little voice that it would be the end for her. Well she didn't listen but at least now I won't have to listen to her any more.

I say the same but with cheese.

And they are not really curse words, s'wit is an abbreviation of slow-witted and fetcher does NOT mean the most obvious thing that comes to mind, rather someone who fetches, a servant or someone's servant.
