Hmm. Whereas I see Bastian's comment as much more annoying. Hooray for subjectiveness! :D

(well, really, I find the whole "suicidal butterflies & torchbugs throwing themselves at your cursor" thing to be the most annoying aspect.)

I find Bastian to be more annoying.

Me: accidentally picks up stupid item placed right behind a vendor. I get a bounty, a punching NPC and negative Bastian rapport for “stealing”.

    Bastian torches said punching NPC.

Rapport goes down again for murder.

I definitely feel like the passive-aggressive comments should cease at max rapport, regardless of where you've set their chattiness level.

This should give you another incentive to max rapport for sure.

    But I've started to get into the habit of getting snarky with him and his repeated dialogue;

"You need to keep moving!" (Really? ... Is that what I'm supposed to be doing?)

I do the same, especially when he uses that line, and I'm like 'no Bastian, I'll stay in the aoe, it's a calculated risk, it's the best positioning and I don't want to move my DOTs, now hush!'

Honestly this is one reason I don't like that line. It is generally bad advice. Like, yes shouldn't stand in lots of stuff. But there's other times where you're better off staying still regardless of what's hitting you because your heals are gonna easily outpace any damage you're taking and you can neutralize the threat much faster if you stay in rotation instead of dragging the enemy everywhere.

One of the marks of someone who has mastered getting out of danger is the experienced ones know what they can stand in, what they cannot, and dodge what they cannot with very purposeful movements. Whereas a lot of inexperienced players rely on just kiting around constantly in the hopes they don't get hit and are all over the place.

To be fair, those dragonguard quests were created long before companions existed so they were not taken into account at the time. But yeah, they should have looked back at old content, realized people might use companions to do it, and adjusted the companions accordingly.

I have got to ask, are people going out of their way to grind or level rapport in some way? I have done literally hundreds of world bosses with her (stickerbook grinding), probably 15-20 DSA runs (DDF lead), and the better parts of Two chapters and a DLCs worth of quests. Her rapport is still at like 75%. Haha. I feel like I am missing something. I also don't think I can take her jabbering much longer. And yes, I know she hates goblins and likes bugs...

For Mirri? It's FG quests and take her to Daedric Ruins, she also loves being in Clockwork City and the library in Vivec, I believe.

And I like her personality. She's just nice.

@Oreyn_Bearclaw the easiest way to farm rapport is with guild dailies, the only thing that sucks is this is the only part of companions that is per toon lol

mages for bastion, fighters for mirri, and if you can get a group to share those (i think there are 6 in total), that is about 900 rapport a day just from that (not counting any additional "small" rapport gains)

mirri is even easier actually since she also gets bonus rapport for ashlander dailies (again if you share them, it would take like a week or less to max out her rapport)

guild daily rapport gain is +150 per quest which i believe is the highest repeatable source of rapport (the 2 companion quests give like 500 rapport each but can only do those once each)

my thoughts on mirri is i much prefer her personality over bastion, bastions personality just seriously annoys me and his phrases are so dumb and ill-timed (me: stampeded a daedrat, him: "they made their choices")

i do also agree that we should be able to turn off their dialog completely (with maybe an option to have them give some dialog ONLY when rapport is increased/decreased so you know it was happening)

Yeah, I just started farming the Fighters, Mages, and Undaunted daily's to level the skill lines. God are they painful. It's been a long time since I did them. That actually makes more sense now. I typical do all three then turn them in the order above (purely based on geography in Deshaan). I always get report for the fighters but not the other. I was wondering if there was actually a cooldown on them or something.

i think the cooldown for gaining rapport from the same source is like 5 min, but the nice thing is it almost always takes more than 5 minutes to complete a guild daily so it works out even sharing the quests

after i finished leveling up the skill lines, i only did fighters guilds with mirri to max out her rapport and after i finished all of her achievements i did the same thing with bastion

rapport was definitely the last thing to max out on both of them

They need to get that voice actor back in here for Mirri and have her record a whole bunch more dialogue. Heck, I want Mirri to have conversational AI. That would be cool. She also needs to have some kind of daily random activity. I also want to make custom outfits for her and she needs more passive activities for in home pathing. Why not let her sit down on a chair or sleep on a bed or lounge on a couch? Snack on food or get a drink?

And why not let players use their pledge of Mara on her? While I'm at it, she should fish when I fish, eat & drink when I eat & drink, dance when I dance and basically mirror my activities when it makes sense to do so.

I'm focused on Mirri, but generally these things should be available for any companion. Also do need a mute button for the haters.

I just had her along as I did Antiquities and Blackwood questing (I got Blackwood back during the event in the fall). And I made sure to kill a goblin, read a book, and do the one Ashlander daily in Vardenfel. Got her to maxed rapport reasonably quickly. (it helps to look up a list of what actually affects Rapport. Most of the things you listed don't.)

And I still don't have her remotely to level 20. I don't bulk farm creatures while questing/delving/etc, so the fact companions only get XP from kills is kind of annoying.

Some just messed up frequency options because there is no much difference with frequent and infrequent options. Personally I think that making companions completely mute is not a great idea, but giving us "legendary rare" option when they talk only 1-5% of actual infrequent would be awesome.

I want to hear my companions but not every freaking moment! If I would hear Bastian comment about cities once for weeks or months it would make it something special. When I hear it 5 times a day, it's just repetive and annoying.

Funny, I have her almost to 20. She is at like level 19.7. I feel like I gain XP with her reasonably quickly, but the rapport is another animal. Like I said earlier, when Is started doing DDF lead runs in normal DSA, I did several solo or with one other player and Miri tagged along (not that she did much). That was probably the time that she gained levels the fastest. I also did probably 10-15 bosses in every zone to fill out my overland stickerbook. Guess that makes sense if she levels from kills and gains rapport from random stuff. I never looked into it all that closely TBH. Thanks for the info.

i must have been like blazing speed then lol, i think it took me maybe a month to max out both mirri and bastion (xp and rapport) lol

the companions get XP as a percentage of xp from your own kills, using xp scrolls (or other boosts like during holidays) also further increases the companions xp gain

i just did normal DSA with 150% xp scroll, 2 players with 2 companions progresses the arena about as fast as 4 normal dps players due to the spawn rates (it took maybe 6 runs or so to max level the companion) (when we got to the final boss arena, i tried to help my friends out by inviting them in to get an arena weapon drop, some of which who had never even been in there before)

the BRP farm will work too, but its way harder than DSA (for some people, normal DSA is pretty doable by most anyone)

the ironic thing i find is bastion gets rapport for doing dolmens, you need dolmens to do fighters guild for mirri rapport, so while in the field you can have bastion out, then when turning in the quest you can have mirri out to double up on the rapport

Let's say you needed help moving over on the weekend. You ask your group of friends. Most of them say "sure" or "yes." One of them is says "ugh fine, I'll be there with freaking bells on."

Come moving day most of the ones that said sure actually flaked out to do fun things. But your sarcastic friend is there to help you move with an "You owe me a beer for this fetcher. C'mon the sooner we do this the sooner I get pizza." And a sly wink. They help you for hours until everything is done.

Mirri is the sarcastic friend with pizza. Bastian is one that just said "yes" and showed up quietly and did what he'd said he'd do, maybe cracks a few dad jokes while y'all are moving.

Both of them have your back. That's how I see them. Mirri may tease but she definitely has your back and tries to do right by her friends and others. I've known a few Mirris, relate to her a bit myself.

Well true, Bastian won't do anything severely against his morals. But that's a pretty reasonable ask. Mirri don't like murder either.

I think it's kinda neat each companion has their own set of morals, makes them feel more alive.

Oh, I like this too but it gets really annoying since I do tend to steal from Thieves Caches a lot. Side funny though, Mirri hates murder but she is the reason why I have the murder achievement on my new main. I was doing a pickpocket daily thing and the game screw me over when it was 100% but it went down to 95% the moment I click the button, and I failed. The guy turn hostile and Mirri just gladly murdered him without my input... So, I don't do pickpocketing anymore when I have a companion out.
