Will trap beast be used in endgame magic builds?

Or will it just keep being meta on stam builds?
Just wondering if this skill will become the most used skill in the whole game (if it isn't already)

Why can't there be a magic dot on say mages guild that also has minor force?

Would be amaxing if z could test it one day.

I think it will be strong because it is minor force, gives slotted passive buffs (Weapon Damage and Ultimate Generation), and does bleed damage which can proc hemmorage DoT.

Yes, and the fact you have to re-cast lightweight trap so much more makes it a far heavier stamina drain.

Is this an old post? People have been using Barbed Trap (Rearming Trap) on mag for years. It's been the meta.

They will have to buff channeled acceleration time soo it becomes a worthy competitor to trap beast. Probably even double it’s duration.

I guess now theres no point using it.

Since mages have more range it came to my mind lightweight would be a good alternative

I don't think usage of trap beastv will change. In fights where you could be melee ranged it was already used and channeled was only used for highly mobile or ranged fights (kite DPS in rg for example) bc some damage and no cast time is better than no damage and a cast time when possible.

Maybe channeled should get a buff that gives something in addition to minor force, the extra speed is fine, but not the most helpful since it's long cast time means race against time is more useful if you need a speed boost and don't have access to one through class abilities. Unsure what that boost should be though.

Channeled hasn't been meta or used for more than a year now in endgame.

Not only is Barbed Trap used on mag builds, it often earns a front bar slit because the fighters guild passives are so good. Acceleration is very weak in comparison, dealing no damage itself, costing magicka, requiring a cast time (consiming 2 GCD's and skipping a light attack), and giving little for slotting it. It could use a serious buff, I don't even think making it instant cast is enough.

Instant cast would be enough for me. Trading the trap cooldowns for the extra spamables? Sign me the hell up!

As others have echoed it's been meta for a long time. The passives + off resource cost + buffs on it have made it the go to, especially after the buff making the Fighter's Guild passive give spell damage to. Channeled Acceleration and Race Against Time just doesn't come close to it.

Trap beast is better against bosses due to their being no cast time add the extra dot. CA is better in trash fights because typically you never need to recast it, and recasting trap over literally any aoe against trash is a waste, so you get more minor force uptime and spammable gcds overall.

I don't know why so many people think that what is used for optimal parses is "the meta". It's just a template of an ideal dps scenario, which you then adapt to the needs of the encounter (static, mobile, mech heavy, high dmg, etc.), your own skill level and/or the group.

trap has been meta for a really long time as long as you can get away with it, though a lot of mag dps preferred to run medusa (or now tzogvin) to keep the skill slot.

Theres a time line (pun intended) where fire rune gave minor force buff instead of marketing Summerset but alas. Maybe a rework of Channelled to sap time from an enemy, putting a dot on them for the duration to make it worth the bar space. The shield is a nice passive for some damage phases but overall psijiic passives did not age well if you arent spamming ele weapon
