Um. Akatosh AKA Auri-El.... Aurielic quasigriff...
I think @RemanCyrodiil_I ’s point is that appending Akatosh/Auri-El/Alkosh/Martin Septim’s name to a thing doesn’t automatically associate it with him. It needs more legwork lore-wise. Otherwise I could take a sharpie to the box of mix and go make me some Aurielic brownies.
Drat, now I want brownies.
They are my favorite after normal horses. It's everything else that has awful motions!Sylvermynx wrote: »Yeah, I'm just not a fan of the heavyweights. I never use the senche-raht mount, can't stand the motion. *sad*

Heh. Yeah. Each to her own. The horses drive me nuts (long time horsewoman here....) - they're.... just not *right* in any way as to conformation. Yeah yeah, I know Tamriel isn't Earth - but hey, I could come up with a "not-Earth" horse that made more sense, and looked like it was "normal" for the world.
But the problem with the heavyweights, the camels and the bears is that the action messes with my vertigo. I can't fix the vertigo (as the only option is - well, not an option) because there's no effective counter to the problem. So.... I use the mounts that don't cause me to wish I'd never been born - and then do whatever necessary to NOT get so sick I have to....
Eh, no one needs that level of "detail".

As we know from the Snow Elf tradition, one of the aspects of Auri-El is sun. Another aspect is bird (eagle). Does this mount look like quasisun quasibird?
Was going to avoid looking at datamines to surprise myself, but then Twitter decided to slap this model onto my timeline for some effing reason, so I guess I'll join the discussion then.
I do understand where people are getting their disappointment from. I wasn't expecting another quasigriff either, but it does at least make sense. Akatosh and Auri-El are basically the same deity (leaving the heavy lore discussion - as much as I would love it - out of this now), worshipped by two different groups of people. The Imperials associate Akatosh with dragons, which makes the Soulfire Illusion pet make sense - the pet fragments refer to Imperial traditions regarding worship of Akatosh. The Altmer, however, associate Auri-El with eagles, so the mount being griffin-like makes sense. I'd expect that the mount fragments will refer to elven traditions and rituals regarding their worship of Auri-El, to reflect this duality of the chief deity of the Divines (this also makes me interested in the other rewards/morphs we'll be getting this year - will they continue with this duality or explore other aspects of Akatosh, such as the Nords' connecting him to Alduin?).
As for the people mentioning "draconic" mounts... Sure, they would be cool, but also completely illogical from a lore standpoint. Dragons are the only draconic creatures there are, and they sure as heck aren't going to let just any old chum ride them, lol. The closest we have is certain reptilian beasts, like the Wamasu. So, basically unless we get to go further into Black Marsh in a future expansion/DLC and get to see Swamp Leviathans or any similar creatures that the devs can "downscale" into mounts, we aren't getting any "draconic" or "dragon-like" reptilian mounts any time soon.
I'll be getting the mount because it doesn't look too terrible and because I'm a completionist, but it is kinda disappointing to see another quasigriff mount.

Hey there, I had vertigo for 2 years, so I hear you. Mine was fixed by a specialist using a 'vertigo maneuver'. I still get seasick from certain animations, and some camera shenanigans in videos. I also prefer certain mounts based on their gait.
