Lag on NA server, disconnected for "sending too many messages"?

I was out in Reaper's March, and for the last maybe 30 minutes to an hour or so, myself and many others in the zone were getting these lag spikes. It would come and go, but I've never had lag in this game. It got me killed a couple of times, and then suddenly I get dropped from the server, and receive a message that I was dropped from the server for sending too many messages. I wasn't sending an excessive amount of messages, or using chat any more than I usually do. In fact, I hadn't used the chat in about the last 10 or 15 minutes that I was playing, because I was trying to do this quest. And I know I wasn't using the mail system either.
I'm not sure if this is just a problem with server stability, or if there is some kind of hacking going on again, but I REALLY do not want to be punished or banned because the game thinks I'm sending too many messages, when all I was trying to do was fight bosses in the arena.
The lag I can deal with, I guess. But I don't want to be punished for something I did not do.

ToxicCosmos✭✭✭I got the same thing. I don't think it's chat/mail messages it's talking about though. With the lag, skills don't work right away, so we end up pressing them over and over again. I think that's what the message is referring to.
I do hope they fix this soon.

Dolnor✭✭✭Word of Warning: You can also get booted for spamming when in an area with lots of bookshelves/bookcases. When you are running to each to read a book, hoping for Lore and/or Skill books, count to 5 before opening the next one. Do it too fast and "you have been logged of for spamming messages".

Doing any action can cause this, as long as there's lag
by "sending messages", it means the message your computer sends to the megaserver for each time you press a key or click something.
What's happening is that the messages queue up when the lag is happening, and when the lag finally ends, everything that you pressed is transmitted all at once. Under normal circumstances, simply playing the game shouldn't give you this message, even if you are mashing keys in a battle or something.
It's all related to the lag
