Why does ZOS limit feedback to positive responses...

ZOS pretty much has their ideas set in stone once they announce it. Even more so once it hits PTS. I find it's better to just set no expectations and prepare accordingly.

I find a downvote or negative reaction button unnecessary. If you disagree with something just type it out and explain why. That is better than just some generic negative downvote that gives no constructive feedback.

A dislike button isnt necessary as most people who didnt like the content would typically leave and report buttons are usually the place where people go to get justice

same with youtube if you didnt like the video then you didnt click the like button... you can always voice your "negative" opinions in the reply section instead of labeling something that isn't yours

I find it interesting that ZoS only allows positive votes for posts, including thier own announcements. It appears that rather than looking for actual feedback you are looking only for affirmation of your news. "We just put out a 40 dollar DLC where the biggest pro is a new card game" (insightful agree awesome) or "We are working on hybridization for combat which will unbalance the game and create a single end game meta" (insightful agree awesome)...how about a button to let you know when your idea is terrible?

It wasn't always this way. The forums have changed a lot over years.

I except this post will eventually be closed for some arbitrary reason later.

There is a difference between providing constructive feedback and what they remove. They do not seem to remove formative or productive messages.

I disagree. [snip] I suspect as OP stated this thread won’t be open for very long.

So feedback to you is merely pressing the buttons at the bottom of a post? Maybe do something more constructive and type out your feedback?

Ah yes, type out the feedback to then get banned from the forums for bashing :)

There's... a very large difference between bashing and engaging in a meaningful constructive criticism on something you disagree with.

Are you talking about the "Awesome" "Agree" and "Insightful" at the bottom of the message?

They used to also have "LOL" but took it away. Apparently, before or near launch, they also had the "Disagree" that people could select. I do wish they had kept the disagree. As I recall, word is that using "Disagree" resulted in an opinion but did not say why the person disagreed. Taking that away forces an actual reply, but sometimes I have already said it elsewhere and just want to disagree without repeating myself endlessly.

Insightful is the down vote. Its the passive-aggressive option.

I've seen some people do that. I'm not sure that their intent really comes through unless they also post a comment to that effect, because that's not how "insightful" is commonly used by the community.

LOL used to be the passive-agressive one.

Feel free to passive-aggressively give this an insightful if you want.

I use Awesome as the down vote. As well as "awesome" as it is intended. This way, no one knows for sure.

Try joining the party of @ZOS_RichLambert in game and utter your feedback. Try to see what happens.

Well you'd get kicked I imagine - who in their right senses would do that?

Disagreement needs elaboration because your response is different to what is already posted. Agreement needs no elaboration because your opinion might just be the same as whichever post you agreed with. The lack of a disagree button is to encourage people to post their disagreement rather than just saying "No" as it's more constructive to conversation.

"I agree with this post!" See how worthless and waste of a post that is? Unless I have something else to add to WHY I agree to it, it's better just to slap that agree button!

"I disagree with this post" WHY THOUGH? A disagreement with something does require elaboration on why you disagree. So you'll need to post your reasoning anyways. Making a disagree button effectively useless.

I've been on forums with disagree buttons and I've always found them pretty useless. "Someone, somewhere disagrees with some or all of this post for an unknown reason" isn't useful information. You can't address the point/s they disagree with in any way because you don't actually know what they are.

(In some cases you can't even be sure it's that post they disagree with because some people will take such a dislike to a person or one of their posts that they'll go back through their posting history clicking 'disagree' on everything they've ever said.)

It's far more useful and informative for everyone involved to actually write a response rather than just clicking a button and telling yourself you've contributed.
