Will Maormer become a playable race in the next chapter?

Will the Maormer become a playable race in the next chapter? It would make sense, given the chapter will be in their homeland. Also since all races are reskins on the same character model it takes basically zero effort to put together a new pale skin plus a couple of racial passives. And perhaps a free race change token (they will sell thousands anyway if they introduce a new race). One can keep dreaming but it would be fun...

We are going to High Isle next chapter. Aka Bretons, not Pyandonea. And I would not want new race added, if any they could add some maormer polymorph.

It hasn't even been revealed that we are going to High Isle or Pyandonia, so it is a little early to talk about playable island natives.

They already added Maormer skin which pretty much takes care of things. Granted, I passed on the skin but it does offer a player who uses it the chance to pretty much RP a Maormer.

The only reason it would be lorebreaking is because it would be another factionless race like Imperials. Other than that, there's no reason it would be lorebreaking. It's not like Maormer live their entire lives on ships or whatever.

The real reason we'd likely never will get a new playable race is because of how long it's been that we have the current 10. And the even more likely reason in that it would be hard for them to balance a new race; they already have a hard time balancing the 10 they have.

Actually, the reason we are not likely to get a new playable race is we currently have all the playable races there have ever been in a TES game. However, in this case, the skin solves the issue as we really do not need another race.

No. It can’t work with the current political climate of the game. Alternate Khajiit is possible and that’s about it. The only way another race could be added is if we venture away from Tamriel such as Akavir. Then possibilities can open, but that’s only if it written into the history and lore.

That's essentially what I said lol. The Skin only covers the physical aspect of it, though; appearance doesn't automatically equal a whole new race. That being said, I'm not really sure what they'd bring that isn't covered by other races. They'd basically get something Storm-related in regards to skills and passives, which steps on Sorc toes.

Aside from that they'd probably be similar to Altmer, but even if they made Maormer 100% unique (which they can't do and keep good race representation since Storm stuff is such a big part of their lore; then again, we've seen from the Racial Passive rebalance and with the Vampire rework how willing ZOS is to abandon race identity), I still wouldn't trust that it could be balanced properly against what we have already.

This one would love dagi raht as alternate khajit (Za’ji is one).

Besides, Maomers have not come across well in the eso storylines. Not very, much, tolerant. They may very well try to turn Sammy into a rug😾

It'd make an awesome addition in TES 6 where I think it would make a hell of a lot more sense, but they would have to put in a hell of a lot of effort to make it work in ESO, not least of which would include adding a ton of more dialogue options to old questlines to account for the complete oddity that is a sea elf Vestige.

You could do some reaching to say one or two individual sea elves might not mind working with the Ebonheart Pact or Daggerfall Covenant, but like, there is no way in hell the Dominion would let a Maormer join its ranks. High Elves and Sea Elves absolutely despise one another.

Which has no relevancy in relation to the first, given that each of three Dominions are almost indistinguishable from one another.

Currently in ESO we've got the sea elves trying conjure a storm to wipe out Khenarthi's roost, entire armadas worth of them actively pillaging and destroying towns on both Auridon and the main island of Summerset, and a High Elf/Sea Elf couple who makes it painfully clear that their fling is the ultimate taboo and punishable by death.

Queen Ayrenne can barely manage to convince her people to work with the Bosmer and Khajiit. I can't realistically see her enlisting the help of sea elves too.

There is "enlisting the help of the sea elves" and then there is "this is one of the good ones," and ESO doesn't need an entire alliance between Maomer and High Elves to justify the presence of a single special person.

That “skin” is terrible and gives you patches of scales like some kind of disease, nothing about it is Maormer! Getting the general features, skin tone and of course the eyes right go furthest toward looking Maormer.

I think going to Pyandonea could be great and even adding Maormer as a playable race, but I’m just about certain we’re not going there this next chapter.

Of all of the races people throw around, Maormer do seem the most plausible. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit of an Elder Scrolls purist, but I'd be 100% ok with a Maormer race. I've even got a character in planning who I wanted to make a Maormer ever since I met Ylahizu in Blackwood, and because I still never got a good idea for a Dominion story character. I feel like that would be fun to RP a bit. I'm... not impressed with the AD line so far, but if Ayrenn is naïve and trusting enough to just think everyone's her friend, I could easily see her thinking all Maormer are 100% okay if one of them saved her life right at the beginning of Vulkhel Guard.

In terms of racials, it might need to steal from some others. I'd hate to do another major racial overhaul (even though I know a lot of Bosmer fans would love to see the Khajiit and Bosmer steath passives swapped, and Redguards should totally have the 2H skill boost instead of SnB since all of the lore is about Sword-singers, not Shield-singers... but the Nords have Shieldmaidens), but Maormer definitely fit the Argonian swim speed buff better than Argonians. There are also a couple other racials that are missing equivalents - like a stam version of the Breton 'Magicka Mastery' or a mag version of the Redguard 'Adrenaline Rush.' But racials have never been make-or-break outside of the top of the top end, so they could go with anything.

But I doubt it'll happen this chapter. I could see a nice Pyandonea/Thras storyline they could do in the future where the Altmer have to form an alliance of necessity with the Maormer against the Sload with a quarterly format like the below:
    1. small zone (the scrapped island that was intended to be the AD second starter zone) with Maormer race
    2. Chapter zone of Pyandonea, with the chapter feature and a trial.
    3. dungeons (one in Summerset, one in Pyandonea)
    4. one of the islands of the Sload in Thras to finish the story.
I wouldn't think Maormer would be a good chapter feature since it's only a new model with three passives, so I'd hope to see something else there. I'm biased, but I want to see spears, and having a bunch of Pyandonean-style tridents would be really fitting and awesome (and a good way to get people to revisit old content if we needed to go get new 'Spear' weapons for every set)
The Maormer we see in game mostly use Altmer models with a new skin, though about half of the new ones since Summerset do have unique ears at least. May be fun to use those. And Velsa's hair, bring that in too.
