How come the Warden wasn't included for me?

But some people had it included when they bought ESO? I understand that I can pay 1,500 crowns to unlock it. But not everyone had to do this.

Is this something ESO Customer Support has to rectify?

How did you buy an old version without warden (and necromancer)?

I bought "The Elder Scrolls Online - Greymoor" from Steam and it comes with both and west skyrim

You'd need to buy a version which includes Morrowind ownership.

Basically any full priced version of ESO that was purchased between the introduction of Morrowind and the introduction of Summerset the following year had the Warden class bundled in.

Once Summerset dropped Morrowind became a DLC and the Warden class was separated. So you could play the zone with ESO+ but not get the class. This was repeated with the Necromancer class and Elsweyr DLC 2 years later.

If you have a purchase product code from buying the Morrowind DLC then you should get Warden free. That’s the only way.

Once a cash-only chapter is demoted to a Crown Store DLC, you no longer get the extras that came with it when it was a chapter, such as the Warden or Necromancer skill lines. Those are available as separate purchases from the Crown Store. This specifically applies to purchasing the former chapter through the Crown Store-- the zone itself and the additional class must be purchased separately.

However, if you get the former chapter as part of the special Collector's Edition that includes the latest chapter plus all former chapters, I think you should get the extras that originally came with each chapter, except for any special pre-purchase items that were available only to buyers who purchased a chapter before its release date.

I did some digging. I purchased my version of ESO on Tue, Apr 11, 2017, 1:14 PM through Steam.

The Morrowind Chapter was released on June 6, 2017.

Because of this two-month gap, I have to purchase the Warden separately?

Yes, I don't think the version you bought came with Morrowind, because it wouldn't have been available for pre-purchase yet.

If you bought the Morrowind DLC later, through the Crown Store, or have "free" access to it via an ESO Plus subscription, you'll need to purchase the Warden class through the Crown Store.

OK, thanks. I think this is my case. I will have to pony up the 1,500 Crowns then.

If you bought from the crown store then you bought it as a DLC zone after the 1 year period I mentioned.

If you bought a physical copy of Morrowind the box would contain a Product Code which you would enter into the game to access the full Morrowind with the Warden class. If the purchase was completed digitally from a digital storefront (like Steam or PSN) the code was automatically applied to your account.

As you got a later copy of Morrowind you essentially got the stripped down version.

I see. So my only option to attain the Warden class is to purchase it for 1,500 crowns on the in-game store?

There is another option, buy a chapter (not upgrade) collection.
Blackwood is the current one, but that's obviously quite expensive. But you might be able to buy a copy of Elsewyr or Greymoor for cheap. Even buying a current version of the base game would work. The current basegame includes the Morrowind chapter and Warden. If you buy Elsewyr or Greymoor you'll also get Necro.
Just make sure you're buying the collection that includes the base game and not the upgrade.

That's what I was going to suggest.

If you're planning to get the other chapters at some point buy the full version of the latest chapter and you'll get all of them, including the bits which were split out when they were rebranded as DLC and added to the crown store. It is expensive for the full package but I think it works out cheaper than buying each one seperately.

It's the one called Collection: Blackwood you want, not the Blackwood Upgrade. On the ESO website it says that it includes all the previous chapters and if you buy it from somewhere else it should say that too.

There's a more expensive version called something like Collection: Blackwood Collector's Edition but you don't need to get that (unless you want to), it just comes with some extra items.

Edit: got the names of the two versions slightly wrong, corrected with exact wording now the store is back up.

Im quite sure that the Collection Editions DO NOT include the classes and that those must be purchased separately still.

Im quite sure that the Collection Editions DO NOT include the classes and that those must be purchased separately still.

In that case ZOS need to fix the advertising on their website. The Morrowind description on the Collection: Blackwood page says "Explore the island of Vvardenfell, harness nature-based magic as the Warden class, and more!" and the one for Elseweyr says "Save the Khajiit of Elsweyr from a rage of Dragons and wield the powerful Necromancer class".

That really makes it sound like the classes are included and I think a lot of people would be quite angry to find out they're a seperate purchase afterwards.

(Although I'm fairly sure I've seen other people say they bought that or a previous bundle which included all the chapters available at the time and did get the warden and necromancer classes.)

You're wrong, they do include the classes. They also include the extra character slot that came with Elsweyr.

That's pretty cool and I'm glad to know that. It explains why no one has ever asked how to get them I now realize in retrospect.

I've mentioned before that imho if Morrowind is now included in the base game then anyone with the old base game should be able to claim it now for free. Like Imperial City.

You should still be able to buy the ESO Standard Edition, which is quite often on 50% sale.

That one will give you the full Morrowind chapter (zone + class). You won't get an extra copy of the base game, though, but for ten bucks, I would still call it a good deal.

Yes. You own the base game and Morrowind DLC.

Buying the ESO Standard Edition may actually cost you less than buying enough Crowns, although, you could always get the Warden class gifted to you for gold, based on your server/zone current exchange rate. Yes, it is legal, as long it is gold for Crown Store item and not real money for an ingame item.

Oh, I see. I'll just wait for my 1,650 Crowns from ESO+ to kick in next month. I guess it'll end up costing the same - whole new game vs 1-month sub.

You probably bought the Collector's Edition Upgrade.

The versions of the latest chapter that include previous chapters are the "Collection" (i.e. non-upgrade) versions. Collector's Edition (which has a confusingly similar name) doesn't matter, and just includes a bunch of extra cosmetic items.

There are four 4 versions of Blackwood

    Blackwood Collection
    Blackwood Collector's Edition Collection
    Blackwood Upgrade
    Blackwood Collector's Edition Upgrade

The Collector's Edition of both includes some additional items like emotes. They are the same bonus items for either CE version

    Upgrade vs Collection

The collection always includes all previous Chapters.

Wherever we go next chapter will breakdown the same way. If you're missing more than one chapter it is generally cheaper to just buy the Collection rather than purchase them individually.
