Kuta drop rate is almost non existent?

Has anybody noticed that the drop rate on Kuta is horrible low for some reason? I don't think I've gotten a single kuta in 2 months and yes I'm a harvester/farmer/horder, picks up everything I see and go on routes.
I don't know if it's just me but just can't seem to get those kuta's anymore

✭I created a second account maybe 2 months ago, and my <level 50 character get kutas from runestones.
I guess for the highlevel players like on my main account the main method to get them is the hireling, but not 100% certain as I currently rarely play that account.
But also on my main I had the impression that new characters I level up find more Kutas than my cp1xxx ones.Edited by markulrich1966 on January 12, 2022 3:08PM0 -

✭I'm actually somewhat similar in that regard. I have absolutely terrible luck getting kuta from runestones. But a friend of mine gets kuta from every other runestone.
That said, I have my fair share of luck from heavy sacks. So I can't complain.

✭✭✭✭✭I get most of mine from maxed rank crafting writ boxes with 18 characters. The same goes for all gold mats including Chromium Grains (chance to get a full plating) not from farming or refining. The numbers are so much better, if you invest the time and resources on as many characters, you get more out of it than from farming nodes and refining raw mats. ✭✭✭✭✭I seem to find Kuta pretty regularly, sometimes doubled, although I don't keep count. And that's probably why I seem to find it so often. When you start looking for something in this game, it disappears into the cracks. And when you stop looking for it, it comes out of the woodwork. So the trick is to pray to RNGsus that you absolutely, positively do NOT want to find ANY Kuta-- and (here's the trick) ACTUALLY MEAN it-- and then you won't be able to STOP finding it.
The good news is, there's an event coming up in a couple of weeks, and there will probably be increased drops from nodes in the three zones for that event.I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!2 -

✭✭✭✭✭Case in point: today I had a level 10 out doing antiquities. In Bangkorai, she harvested the runestone that's on the little hunk of rock off the N Evermore beach (the one where the sweeper drops part of the time, and there's usually a chest too); that runestone had 2 kuta plus 2 mundane and a couple of other white runes. Then she swam past the two lamia below The Apprentice stone, stopped at the runestone between the rocks nearby, and got 2 more kuta plus a couple white runes. This is on my main PC NA account with about 850 cp so she has the green tree pretty well filled out even at such a low level.
Then I was on a different character, mid-20s to do today's Endeavors (for the XP more than anything) - also in Bangkorai; 4 of the 8 resources she gathered were runestones, no kuta and only mundane, white runes, and a Denata plus a couple of Jejota.
*shrug* The RNG in this game is sometimes just strange, even character to character on the same account, same day, same zone.Edited by Sylvermynx on January 12, 2022 9:59PM0 -

I always have two phases alternating all the time:
1) quality and amount of stones increasing.
2) Suddenly, bad dropping: just one Ta and another low level one. This lasts this way for a while, with Ta + just one else, and then suddenly I get more, and am back to 1).

✭Cherry pickers = same thing that happens to the furnishing materials.
There's addons that let you set what you want to pick up or leave behind;
many thieves use this as well, btw.1 -

Regarding your second situation: that's likely to be someone farming the route just ahead of you and stripping ONLY the colored runes, leaving the whites. That goes on a lot....3 -

✭The last time I did surveys a couple weeks ago, I got like 4-5 Kuta from my enchanting surveys. Since then, all my Kuta have come from my daily writ rewards. I have noticed that the Kuta drop rate seems to have gone down for some reason or other.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Kuta has always been a pretty bad drop rate in the wild or with surveys. They were the first batch of surveys that I just stopped doing, not worth the time. I have well over a thousand of them, but they are pretty much all from doing writs. That rate has not change in years as far as I can tell.0 -

Anecdotally: When Morrowind dropped I stopped getting Kuta from runestones, and I didn't get any for the better part of a year. At that time I farmed regularly, a few times a week at least, and I farmed all resources. Not a single Kuta dropped for me, and when I figured it out I started going out of my way to farm runestones just to see if I could get some. But no, if I wanted Kuta I had to buy them. After about a year I started getting drops again and the rate gradually crept back up to more or less where it used to be.0 -
