Race-quests

Hi,

After playing a year, me player with no idea about TESO world came up with an idea:

That

1. Races should born in their first land
2. From 1lvl to 10lvl make a questline for each race, about story, religion, etc(introduction to that race lore)
3. After 10lvl with alliance wars, start the alliance questline

Where should my Dunmer be born?

Stonefalls? Deshaan? Vvardenfell? How about Bal Foyen and Stormhold, which were recently inhabited by Dunmer? Can we not be born in historically Dunmer regions where the game hasn't added - so, no Blacklight, Sheogorad, Port Telvannis, etc.?

At a certain point, I think it's wise to leave that sort of thing up to the player to decide their own roleplaying start, rather than try to dictate their origin story.

Varanis Arano, my main Dunmer, was born on a small farm to a minor Redoran family near Kragenmoor in the south of Stonefalls. She's named for the Varanis region they live in.

I really can't imagine that any dev-written origin story is going to match up to what my imagination can come up with for my characters.

And hafgood, my main, is a dark elf - redguard - khajiit and was born on a world called Kharne a long long time ago as a half-elf before ending up getting sucked through a portal to this one.

As far as the main story goes our character is essentially reborn in a manner of speaking. Their former life is not relevant by any degree.

I also agree with @VaranisArano that each player should decide their character's back story. It seems the game is setup for that.

Well it seems like u know everything about ESO world, but I am new(playing 1 year but still a new) and I meet constantly new ppl in th game, and we together try to understand what where and how, and most of the times we end up looking for the story in you tube, bcz I can start as nordic and appear in blackwood and where is the conection? Imagine if U play Mario and the first level where u start it is the castle...

And it bring to the same logic, as with addons, when ONE needs a essential(sometimes) game components from 3rd parts to play the game, ONE needs 5h story video on YouTube to understand what the NPC are talking abt.

So, there could be some initial race questline (individual for each race) where it could explain culture, religion, previous history.

From what I understand everything used to start in Coldharbour where you are freed after being captured by Molag Bal's crew and having your soul taken away. That leads into the main storyline that also ends in Coldharbour.

That being said, I have been told that this changed when Zenimax started adding chapters each year and the new start point is where the new chapter is.

As such it can be confusing. Fortunately, I had someone point me in the direction of the main story, which the quest was given in what was the new chapter zone, and as such saw the game as it was originally intended.

I think ZOS has addressed some of this with their new tutorial, where you can choose your starting zone after having heard a brief description of what it entails.

So a Nord speaking to Norianwe in the new tutorial would have the following connection to Blackwood:

    What's the situation in Blackwood?
"Our agents are investigating a handful of strange Daedric structures hidden away in the swamps near Gideon and Leyawiin. I honestly couldn't tell you how they got there, but the presence of Daedric anything in Tamriel is always cause for concern."

"Seems this portal leads to Blackwood—on the southern border of Cyrodiil. I read an intelligence report about a series of high-profile murders with links to the region. Daedric mischief, too.
A warrior like you could do some real good there."

While you might not fully understand all that going into Blackwood, you'll learn as you play. It's enough to get players started on Blackwood's main plot, which fittingly starts with that series of high-profile murders.

I don't necessarily mind the idea of some race-based questline as long as there's good dialogue options for newbies and TES veterans, and quests actually respect racial choice.

(Example done badly: all players are forced to ask "What's the Tribunal?" In Vvardenfell, including Dunmer who were likely raised worshipping the Tribunal, and characters who've done Deshaan where you are named a Hand of the Teibune Almalexia...)

However, I'm still opposed to the idea of mandating birthplaces or character backgrounds. TES games are usually pretty open-ended about your character's life prior to ending up in prison.

Yes, actually after a month playing(when i first started) I wrote here abt how to start, and good ppl sent me a link from one post with a guide

It was very necesary and helpful
But the thing is that it is alliance storyline, and what I mean is racestoryline

Well, the idea with starting race place it is bcz, if there is short introductionary quests-line personalized for each race to brievly explain things like: origins, religion, short story of each race. Well, it should be in some argonian region for argonians, and kajit's for kajits, bcz the logic that a kajits wont be taught his culture by argonians if there is entire kajit's region full of kajits

I'm sorry but as a lot of the races have intermingled, have taken slaves, prisoners, etc unless a character is born in one of their homelands they are not going to get what you want.

An argonian born in Coldharbor (possible as there is a colony there) is going to have a different upbringing to one in Murkmire and it will be different again to one brought up by slaves in Vardenfall.

So a quest teaching them the same thing would be totally inappropriate as they have all come from different places.

Nords in Western Skyrim are different to those from EastMarch.

    And so on.

I do not come from a TES background, I've never played any of the other games, what I've learnt about the lore is from playing the game and I see no need for there to be starter quests for each race, in most cases it won't fit in with the background of your character.
