Second of all it’s a good set to deal with a four man stack of magplars that can simply out heal every single fight they get into while at the same time killing everyone. The current meta is toxic in BG. It’s basically this:
1. One team is unkillable and steam rolls over everyone.
2. Two teams are unkillable and then join forces to steam roll over the third team.
3. All teams are unkillable and it’s just a fight that goes on forever.
Dark Convergence is one of the few ways that teams can be broken up. Not saying that this should be the only way (I for one think that Defiles need to get buffed more.) but the current BG competitive team comps are really no fun to fight.
And to be honest on a final note, every player I have had complain to me about this set also complain about Negate Magic being op. Which is why I use both. If I can find a way to crap all over an effectively immortal player, I will. No matter how underhanded or ‘unskilled’ it is.
The hate for Dark Convergence came, because pre Nerf it pulled multiple times, dodging didn't work on it, you got pulled in without being in range, you get pulled down from walls, towers etc (that still happens btw) and took stupid amounts of damage even solo.
Most of that was adressed and currently its indeed not so OP anymore. The 50% Damage reduction was great, you only get pulled once so now you can indeed dodge it and its pull radius is consistent now.

Since you asked...
1) It's a free proc that is as strong as an ulti, but in effect, no cool down
2) It displaces another players position on the map, it literally moves the other player(s) around
3) It IS NOT easily dealt with in lag. Lag often makes it impossible to break free from it, insuring death
4) The set does not obey the rules ZOS has set forth for it. It pulls from outside it's stated range
5) It pulls people off siege, and off third floor balconies
6) It does not have to be aimed. Anything that displaces another persons position on map should have to be aimed.
7) It's used almost exclusively by trolls and ball groups
8) The snare immunity of the set does not work, especially in lag
9) The set does the literal opposite of what the devs say they created it to do.
10) It's a tool for trolls
11) It's not balanced with other sets
Anything as OP as Dark Convergence should have to be aimed AND cost resources AND have a significant cooldown. Dark Convergence is just a troll and ball group set. It's toxic free damage and control of other players. It never should have made it off the drawing board at ZOS.
