The Cursed One Vaults of Madness

Wow...been soloing normal Undaunted Dungeons for a bit.
The Vaults of Madness, The Cursed One - still gets me killed.

I am a Templar, and basically had to keep casting Honor the Dead when that jerk casted Soul Link on me. I almost ran out Magicka but had to keep casting it. While jabbing and puncturing.
I made change after switching up some skills because I died 3x...

Tried to break free from the Soul Link....but no luck.

Thoughts?
Curious about strategies!

Stop hitting him while he does the ability. It's a damage reflect .. quit hitting urself.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

If you do it in a group, he targets a group member, and puts all the incoming damage at him towards the target.

Now, with my friends, he's like, "Surely you won't sacrifice your best bud, right?"

    Us: "Wanna bet?"

So we nuke our buddy, continue nuking the boss without missing a beat, and rez after the fight.

If we were going for no death, of course, we'd have to stop or reduce our damage to where the healer could heal the target from the redirected damage.

In your case, well, try not dealing damage once he does the dialogue about sacrifice.

Yeah totally. You may have to keep healing yourself, but it's also reflecting all damage onto you while the channel's in effect.

Usually I find in groups, the remaining three run ahead and the reviving player has to brave the bridge now engulfed in flames. Sometimes two deaths for the price of one. ;)

I solo VoM on normal routinely and know it well. As said above, when he puts that blue beam on you all damage you do gets reflected back onto you. This includes damage from any ongoing DoTs you have going and any damage from summons/companions. That's the bad news. The good news is that he doesn't do much other damage beyond that deadly mechanic and does not have much health - so it doesn't take too much to kill him.

    Here's what I do:
Unsummon any summons/companions before the fight.
You have at least 10 seconds into the fight before he will use his blue beam so open with a full burst including AoE, even DoT skills. Then make sure to apply no more damage over time to him. Whatever you have down should expire before he beams you. Try to kill his adds with your opening few seconds of the fight. Then switch to light and or no DoT attacks and be ready to heal. When you get beamed, cast some pure self healing just in case and repeat as/if needed. You can also block as needed but don't bash/interrupt him (causes damage). Again, it doesn't take much damage to kill him. Remember to resummon any summons/companion before moving on to the next boss since she presents her own fun solo challenge.

Once I learned how to solo him, the only times he's ever killed me is when running with a pug or friends. If you're not solo, it really helps to make sure everyone knows the mechanics here. In fact, there are several pug-killer mechanics in VoM and I find it more efficient (and safer) to solo it.
