The increased cost of the mats is because the supply isn't meeting the demand. There are a few things they can do to help ease this shortage.
    • Decrease the amount of these needed to craft an item

I hope they apply this last point to style materials as well, 12 dwemer frames for an item is not fun

I am pretty sure that even if ZOS made changes to the drop rate or ways of obtaining various materials, it would not significantly change the economy of the game. Greedy players will always will take advantage of the market to maximise their earnings at the cost of other players.

I wholly agree with the stupid amount of some style materials needs addressing though.

I think its time for these mats to drop from daliy writs... I cant be the only one that think this.. The inflation on EU server is out of control and this will be one way for some price to drop..

I spend alot of my time on Housing and making gold ( i dont lack gold by any means) but i think the prices on matriels have gone through the roof.

Dont Zors have eye on the inflation on the servers?

Or rather allow the survey maps to drop them
I don't comment here often but when I do, I get [snip]

I'm not a housing enthusiast by any means (I don't even own a big house), and even I find the lack of furniture mats disproportionately scarce, to the point where I only look for furniture mats now if I ever bother farming. This is just to craft a few pieces of furniture.

We should be able to get them from daily writs and surveys, for sure.

That said, I rarely list furnishing mats on the trader.

I NEVER list furnishing mats on the trader. What happens when I need them one day? Will I be able to afford to buy them back?

What about baggies we can buy with AP and/or Tel Var? It seemed to help with the demand for alchemical reagents.

Another way is to make everything bought from guild store bound and set unbound mats to be used first when crafting (just like mats from the craft bag are used before the mats from inventory). That would effectively double the number of items in craft bag, but it is not really matter. Inventory has already stacks with max capacity, so it will have minimum effect on inventory space.

Making items bound to you on purchase makes no sense. Then the item should have been auto bound to the original person that picked it up from the start and made it non sellable. People would hate this implementation in no time.

Just wait until people start needing these mats for New Life Charity Writs… oof.

    S.

Oh that's right. Just came back to the game after 6 months. I have stacks of furniture mats. Might be a good thing to wait to sell until the event. But honestly, I just prefer an increase in drop rates. Coming back the drops are just awful compared to 6 months ago. Why did zos nerf so much of this stuff?

Yup. People buy them up during the off season, driving the prices way up, then sell during the festival, at 4x the price or more. The market used to recover mostly, but that no longer seems to be the case. Most likely because many folks have enough gold to constantly buy them up... and will become virtual billionaires come New Life.

The best thing ZOS could do, is completely change the festival to not require those mats. It would probably break the bank of a whole lot of previously rich players, but hey, that's what happens when you play the market. The fact that the market is 100% predictable is on ZOS, so they should fix that and change up all their events each year, so players can't "cash in" on them and ruin other parts of the game in doing so.

The point is not to prevent selling, the point is to prevent reselling. Reselling combined with unlimited storage is bad idea. And I don't actually care about people hating or not, the effect is the only thing that matters.

What is needed is a “furnishing daily writ”: which rewards any plans rarely, along with a single piece of any style material, and furniture crafting material, along with a chance at a furnishing master writ.

Furnishing master writ: rarer plan needed, producing writs vouchers.

This promotes furnishing knowledge, and recycling older furnishings, along with producing vouchers, materials and style materials without the need to decon furnishings.

Using my precious furnishing mats for a daily writ is not something I would like to do, given the way they handled the charity writs with boatloads of hardwood for a single writ voucher.

I recently built a Hotel basically from wood based items, the amount of heartwood I used was horrendous but it got me looking to replenish my supplies by farming rather than buying........

I hate farming mats with a passion so for me to even consider it says prices are getting really stupid!!

However even trying to farm heartwood is crazy, the drop rate is absolutely atrocious, maybe I'm just unlucky but it really seems low! ☹

The prizes go up right now, because a lot people know they will be needed for the next event.
So they buy everything at the current average prize they can find, wait a few days/weeks and know, it will double the prize during the event in the best case.

It's not a single person or some elitist-trader, it's everyone who noticed it last year and watches the changing of prizes during specific periods over a long time. Like when a new DLC comes out, gold mats go up. Every single time.
It takes a while and then the sellings usually go back down.

Notice: this just explains the current spike in some mats.
Not that the average prizes are very high for some. I guess people need more for housing that we have farmers/suppliers.

I think, the main problem of this is that the crafting costs are way too high. Sometimes you need for one piece 10, 20 or 30 items of different mats. That's just too many. Imagine a green craftable furniture would need 1 mundane rune always (instead of 10 or 20 now)

I don't seem to have much trouble finding Heartwood when I farm wood, although the actual quantity that drops is still pretty low. Same with Regulus, Mundane Rune, Alchemical Resin, etc.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
