Update 50 is now available for testing on the PTS! You can read the latest patch notes here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories/pts

Increased update sizes - weren’t they suppose to be decreased?

So I remember when U25 happened, we all had to redownload the entire game client - and the purpose for that was that we should all have seen decreased patch updates following that. It was explicitly stated that console users would benefit from that most, as console sizes have always been over the top compare to PCs.

However, the sizes have not decreased, only increased. By like quadruple.

Now I understand some attributed to size increase was client improvements to graphics on Xbox series but every dlc update we are downloading basically whole game size (U32 is 80GB?! even though patch notes state approx 50GB), 70 something GB previous patch and it was 2 dungeons 🤷‍♂️. What gives?

Wasn't it like 100+ prior to them reducing it?

They said a couple of months back that they would be doing a lot of stuff that would result in larger than usual patches for a while.

So while this might be annoying, it is not unexpected.

It was significantly lower than it is now, but then I also didn’t have Xbox series when they came out but like 8 months later, so that may have been? 🤷‍♂️ Regular dlc Xbox x updates prior to u25 were ranging 20-50GB.

Oh I must have missed that. Do you have a link to the article? I’d love to know why 🙂
