The Elder Scrolls 6 All But Confirmed to Be an Xbox Exclusive

Ok Hi, so yes this isn't exactly ESO related, but is elder scrolls related and Microsoft purchase of ZOS related. So we all know and remember a while back Microsoft to Purchase ZOS and this took place and we we're all worried ESO would become a windows based game, The ZOS manager assured us nothing would change and they would still have control of their game and or games.

Today I just found out that it's being suggested that The Elder Scrolls 6 All But Confirmed to Be an Xbox Exclusive, not only suggested, but IGN is confirming.

I do not have any consoles. Period. My history and I will make a long story short and why I'm concerned , frustrated, and upset about this.

1. I have had all the hard physical copies of elder scrolls since right up to Oblivion.

2. I Purchased a physical copy of Skyrim, but found out I could not play it, unless I downloaded and used 3rd party Steam.

3. Since then that one game cost me over 10,000 plus games on steam I randomly purchased and I was only there for Skyrim.

4. ESO came out. Nuff said. Still on steam.

5, Now ES 6 is coming, and I'm not even going to have the chance to play it, because MICROSOFT finally dug that last 6 inch fingernail into the backs at ZOS yet again taking superiority on the gaming field.

Is this sadness really true? Will is be exclusive only for the release later to then become available on other platforms and especially PC? Because if it is truly exclusive to 1 console, then for me, this game , and it's world, just died, a sad, burning, horrible death.

Too early to really worry about it. Last I heard it will probably not come out until 2024-2026 which is a long time in video games time frame. Plus considering all the many times and ways Skyrim has been released I can't see it ever being only one platform. Sure, probably exclusive for a period but I am sure if it is any good it will be released everywhere. After all money is money.

    Stay safe :)

XBox and PC go together by the way. Any and all XBox exclusive games can be bought and played on an a PC. So you might not have a console but there are very high hopes you'll be able to play TES 6 on a PC.... if the PC is a Windows machine.

Don't worry, if TES 6 goes the way of skyrim you will be able play it on an your smart thermostat eventually...

But really all Microsoft has indicated is that TES 6 will likely not be released on rival consoles. PC is not what Microsoft considers to be a rival console since Microsoft software has a stake in PC gaming.

But it's going to be a while for TES6 to be honest I hate that they teased it in 2018 and we still have nothing 3 years later and it will likely be another 3 years before we get the game. And a lot can change between now and then.

Xbox exclusive means no other consoles, it will be on PC. Maybe not iOS or Linux based PC's, but definitely on Windows.

I could care less at this point. ES6 is essentially vaporware. There is nothing to show and only what you can imagine. And if we learned anything from Cyberpunk it’s that hype without tangibility can lead to extreme disappointment.

Even Starfield which is much closer to release has little to nothing to show.

I’ll stay feet planted in the world where I don’t throw down money for wishes and aspirations. ESO and actual games are here now.

This is a horror if true. Consolification is bad for games, should be made for both platforms. I doubt it is true. I don't like consoles and won't buy one.

I really dont care about ESO6. Too old to get excited about a singleplayergame. Maybe 10 years ago.

Pretty much any new game coming out from bethesda will most likely be exclusive. Maybe a few exceptions like eso. Why are you upset with microsoft though? This is the deal bethesda and microsoft have made. Play station have had a lot of exclusives and now that xbox is doing it everyone looses their [snip]
People need to stop beating a dead horse and get over it already. Either accept their decisions and hop on board with pc, xbox or just don't play it. Enough is enough already. The last year has been non stop moaning about this issue.

These days, gaming exclusivity has a wider definition. More often, it is a time limited exclusive and opens up down the line.

However, game exclusivity nowadays includes partnerships too. Microsoft has already partnered with Steam bringing their exclusive titles to their platform, Forza Horizon 5 very recently released on both xbox pass and steam.

There's a lot of partnerships going on right now, xbox game pass includes EA Play subscription, Epic games store with its exclusive 1st year games coming to Microsoft store. Sony is starting a PS Now service to cash in on the PC market like xbox as well.

I would not worry about the near the future that there isn't a platform available to you to play ES6.

No they wont. PS has proven that exclusives make more money on both sales of the game and consoles. Microsoft has proven they can make a ton of sales by doing play anywhere. You can play with Gamepass their games on Xbox, PC and play from the cloud on any device, like an Android tablet.

Sony fans yelled for years and years how PS was the better game console because it had Exclusives. MS played nice for many years but finally decided to play Sony's game and the first thing Sony fans say. But you will lose sales. Its a funny stance to take IMO.

Side note, Microsoft will be coming out with a Dongle for your TV, like a Chromecast or a Roku. So you will be able to play Xbox games with a low price point.

When ES6 is finally released i doubt anyone will care if its exclusive or not.

Besides, with the amount of "exclusives" sony has, its amazing that people are losing their mind at the possibility of this. Are people that upset when sony releases PS exclusive titles? No.

"Gaming" websites aren't the place to search info like that, they can assume stuff for clicks all day long.

It's obviously not gonna happen because pc is their main market and modding community (not creation club) is what keeps their games alive. Can't believe there's enough people who would buy console just for this title, especially when hate for consoles comes from downgrades and lesser quality overall for pc games.

Xbox exclusives means Xbox, PC and Gamepass streaming service. That will be the 3 ways you will be able to play ES6

Honestly, they've milked the Skyrim cow beyond death, (because, for some reason, people KEEP buying it), so I don't really have much interest in it. I'm not buying an Xbox for one video game. I just won't play it, then.

Exclusives are [snip], but it will be on PC for sure. Imagine an elder scrolls without mods lol. I'm pretty sure ps won't get it though since micro pp soft has acquired Bethesda and these [snip] dudes think exclusives make more money , well I'm too old to care anymore , the console wars were funny like 15 years ago dude.

Honestly, if whether it's exclusive or not is the biggest issue in someone's life - I'd like their life!!! I have far more things to worry about than whether I'll be able to play a game or not.

I wouldn't call IGN a reliable source. [snip]

But even if - Skyrim become so popular not because of its great quality, because we all know it is bugged af, even 10 years after original release, but mainly because of modding community that repair most of bugs (like UESP Patch, without it game with shield is unplayable -_- ) and create many great improvements.

So... If Todd want go console way, i can only say Good Luck. And take my popcorn, cause it will be probably more entertaining spectacle than console release of CyberPunk 2077 ^^

tbh, I think the cashcow is to big to ignore other platforms. I think they'll release it even for PS, but however, we'll see for sure a few winters coming before the game will be released. And in this fast world many things can happen in a short time. So nothing to worry about these days. imho

Microsoft's marketing strategy is selling XBOX as a "service", not a console. So the way they try to implement that idea is that XBOX, PC and such hardwares are means to the end of delivering their services to you. In conclusion, "PC" is considered part of that service and you can rest assured that ES6 will be on PC.

Steam release could be a thing, like 90% of developers usually do: wait a few weeks / months after release and make it available on steam too.
