Would you like? (VDSA) Veteran Dragonstar Arena II?

The Dragonstar Arena is a group-based arena in Upper Craglorn.
It is similar to the Trials in Craglorn, but is aimed at groups of four players rather than twelve. It comprises numerous waves of enemies across ten arena environments, and has both a Normal and Veteran mode. Veteran runs are recorded on a leaderboard system, but it's gameplay and scenario have remained unchanged since it's deployment.

No, I would like to have new, unique, interesting arenas rather having next version of worst ESO arena ever. 10 Stages are just too much when you can't save your progress.

I'd just like a "Skip Dialog" option to be honest. Takes too long.

No. That arena has too much blah blah blah and I'm not interested in that arena any longer. I prefer the newer arenas.

I like DSA, the flavor of it and the idea, but I'd much rather have a new arena than a 2nd version of what we already have.

Has anyone timed how much time we lose between rounds while the announcer speaks? It feels like a lot of time.

    Instead of Dragonstar Arena II
I would love for them to shorten the delay between rounds or add a rdy button. The wait between rounds is often longer than the fights themselves.

Make waves spawn instantly instead of having to spend 50%+ of the Arena waiting.

I would like another 4-person arena, but a completely new one. DSA had clever mechanics, that were very challenging back in the day and required strategizing, however it's very long, and with add waves taking time to spawn, as well as stages taking time to start, it can get unecessarily long. I prefer BRP in that regard, though mechanics-wise, it wasn't anywhere near as interesting. Hopefully, a new 4-person arena can have the best of both of the older ones, in a completely new setting/area.

But only if it's actually a BRP II.

DSA was fine but after Blackrose it's painful with all those roleplay phases taking ages before you have something decent to kill.

I just like Boethiah, wouldn't mind a second go.

I dislike the Arena design. They take to long to complete overall, but whats even worse is the long waittime. You effectively spend half of your time waiting for dialogs or spawns. Thats annoying after some time because you dont get a decent flow through the arenas. Vateshran is the only exception because it works more like a series of dungeons which creates a flow that fits to the individual player.

No I would rather they add new arena's every now and then, if not one a year every second year or something.

Or alternate between releasing a single player arena then a group one, as part of the release cycle in addition to the usual chapter, zone DLC and 4 dungeons each year.

Its too damn long. Having us refarm that place for Perfected and later for leads, even on normal... Too damn long. I avoid the arenas like the Plague for the time commitment alone.

I heard that dragonstar is old and scripted in a way that makes it an arduous task to ever revisit. Maybe a sequel version would be something to satisfy people who kept asking at least.

More 4 man arenas would be great. Norm for normal weapons and vet for perfected. vDSA feels like it drags on a bit too long (I end up getting sleepy around arena 6-7). BRP is fun.

ESO writers took Boethia's quest from Oblivion, which also featured 9 rounds of fighting, and stretched it into 4-man content. That'd be fine if they kept to Bethesda style writing but they somehow attributed Mephala's sweet talking to Boethia and while they were at it, they turned Boethia's chosen from no-nonsense seasoned fighters to a bunch of insecure wimps who are all talk. They also forgot that in Oblivion players get to play it only once, while in ESO it's supposed to be run many times. The final result is the kind of arena which feels tiresome and old already during the first run. This might very well be the #1 critical failure of design.

It doesn't need even more lore. It needs less. If it's supposed to stay true to the lore, then there should be a way of eliminating at least one boss without fighting, by provoking the others to turn against them. With a new achievement that requires the murder of every non-final boss. Or if it's not boss skipping, then there should be ways of culling the trash packs between bosses.

I would like for them to fix VDSA first. They should allow us to skip the dudes yapping because I swear it adds a good hour to every run.

33 runs to get my DDF lead. I am done with that place. I am all for new arenas, but no reason it needs to be DSA the sequel.

OMG, so much RP in that place. I can solo normal in 50 minutes. A really fast group is like 35. All you do is wait around. Vet is a little better, but not much.

I think the voice acting in VDSA is approximately 5 minutes of speech, I could be wrong, but I doubt it's really that much.
A decent run without too many deaths and wipes is about an hour in VDSA as it stands.

My current best score in there is:
    Dragonstar Arena
    Best: 47,007
    (Under an hour)

Well, dear producer. You now know that a lot of people here don't like waiting around at the beginning of the stage.
From what I see most don't like:

    - The fact that you can't save your game (It's online here, but ok)
    - Long waiting times/too much speech
    - 10 stages are too much for some
    - Lack of groups willing to do it
    - Over farming by placing leads in the Arena
    - Preference for content in newer areas

I'd just add that speech isn't really an issue if you overlay it with the combat, hence no pauses. Pauses were probably introduced so players could repair their gear between stages or possibly talk about what was coming up. If we put it into perspective, it was useful when no addons existed at launch.

Not even going to vote. Maybe an 8-player version could be fun. There is nothing - just nothing - in the game for groups of 6-8 players. 4 or 12 takes it all, unless you bend the mechanics, and they nerfed companions to make them useless in 12-player groups. Sigh. I'm feeling very left out of the game at the moment.

There is no story to build upon for a version two of vDSA. You win and you the champion. THere is nothing more.

It would be better to design a new unique arena. Heck, even maybe venture from the 4 person group and do a 2, 6, or even 8 people group arena.

You can save your progress in VMA. It remembers which stage you were on. It puts you back at the beginning of that stage the next time you come back when you leave.

Sure they can do that but I do not think that would make a good arena design as it would be one fight. Maybe two fights since the DSA adds in the final arena are in an earlier arena. It seems rather short unless we are going to have a couple done waves of lesser NPCs to fight before getting to the actual challenger.

Why would it have to be one fight? There were multiple bosses that had to go through you with their end desire being to challenge the arena champion. You of course killed them all, but like half that arena is just people trying to get the right to face the champion. No reason you can't have a lot of challengers too now that you're champion.

I have as much interest in this proposal as I have in biased polls. It puzzles me why pollsters have to ask decent questions and then spoil them with poorly worded options. If they want to get their opinion across they should just make a discussion topic rather than a poll, or else just create a proper poll and leave their opinion for the first comment.

You could have just skipped it then if you have no interest. What's the poorly worded options by the way?
It's either 'Yes' or 'No' and a fact: 'Perfected Weapons'.

We can discuss it here too, as you can see the others have :)

What would you like to see in terms of gameplay? Renewal of existing content or newer, Tandor?

I’ve not voted as I’ve not played this particular arena. I much prefer four person dungeons to arenas. If I’m going to do one, I prefer solo arenas.
