Becoming a vampire with a companion active prevents you from attacking during the quest

A friend of mine and I just came across a rather glaring bug with companions and the vampire shrine quest. If you activate a companion (this case Mirri) while inside of the shrine, once you enter the portal to kill the cultists with your new vampire skills, you are unable to attack - both with light, heavy and skills. All addons were disabled for testing and we discovered you must have your companion disabled before entering the shrine.
