Crit Cap clarity.

Hello, does the proposed 125% crit cap include the 50% damage modifier we get that is not included in our advanced stats screen?
Essentially are we going to be building to 75% on stats screen or truly 125%??

Yeah, the note says "your Critical Strikes will not deal more than 125% damage or healing in total" which must be wrong -- a normal critical hit does 50% more damage and, thus, would deal 150% damage without any additional Critical Damage stat.

    125% damage is = 2.25x

You start with 50% or 1.5x damage.

To OP. The general idea is 125% total including the 50% you start with, so you can build an extra 75%. Until we can login to confirm, this seems to be what they meant.

Wording is key here, thus PrinceShroob is correct. A damage total of 125% means you deal 1.25 times your original 100% damage. On the other hand, bonus 125% damage would mean a total of 225% damage dealt, which is the actual 2.25x multiplier you are refering to.

The second half of your statement is correct tho, 75% is the maximum bonus one should aim for to reach the new cap, since you have a 150% critical multiplier as default.

Would also like confirmation, one way or the other, if debuffs are irrespective of the cap on player sourced crit damage..

I'm curious how the crit cap interacts with crit resist in PvP. For example if you have 150% crit damage and you're fighting someone with 25% crit resist, will your overage cancel their resists allowing you to still crit for 125%, making it more of a soft cap? Or do their resists go downward from 125% regardless of your crit damage making it more of a hard cap?

And if it is a soft cap how much crit is necessary to reach 125% crit damage threshold considering everyone has base crit resist? Or in other words, how much crit resist does a character's base crit resist grant, in percentage?

I hope I worded that understandably.

I'm pretty sure no PvP build ever would reach 225% crit damage. You would have to have a warhorn spamer run something like senche and still have over 50% crit. But that would mean you have no resistance, sustain or max stats.

I'm reading it as you can't go further than 75% on the stat sheet. Which is still quite high and would have to be built purely towards. Thanks to the NB nerf no one will do it easily 😒

A khajiit nightblade in medium armor does it very easily. This is a common setup and requires little investment.

    150% base
    +12% khajit
    +10% NB passive
    +10% Minor Force
    +14% Medium Armor
    = 196%

If you queue in CP, that's 221% from back, only 4% to the cap.

You also have shadow mundus or sets to boost it higher. I run Sul-Xan's on live. Rip me, this set can now be safely thrown away.

You don't have to run shadow anymore, that's great! Use axe, unslot traitor cp and go for thief!

If excessive crit damage can compensate for enemy crit resist, that will still be a valid strategy. Because all players have 20% crit resist base.

    We need clarification on this.

The in-game tooltip for Critical Damage now reads "The amount of additional damage your Critical hits do. Critical hits do 50% increased damage and can be made more powerful with these additional bonuses, up to a maximum of 125%." This description is still bad -- firstly, your Critical Damage stat starts at 0% rather than including the base 50% (testing seemed to indicate that the 125% cap includes the base 50%), and secondly, it's misleading, implying that the "additional bonuses" are capped at 125%, which is not the case.

I've been wondering about this. Thank you for clarifying that the base 50% was included.
