Maintenance for the week of April 6:

Do you only cater to RP’ers and casuals?

Genuine question.

Tried three battlegrounds last night, and they were all bugged. No ults, sets not “procing”, breaking free every 6 seconds, no sprinting, taking environment damage instantly after respawning. Id hate to see what Cyrodiil is like if it’s this broken in a closed off 12 player instance.

It looks like you need to hire more staff, or place some in roles they are more capable of. Every Tuesday it’s one step forward, two steps back. I’d love for your investors to read through bug reports and forums, maybe they’d push you to do better seeing how poorly their investment is being handled.

Wish they catered to RPers, would be nice to have a tab to fill out character biographies and have a flag to know who else out in the open world RP's

The investors would look at the amount of money coming in from RPers and casuals buying houses and costumes and mounts, and then light their cigars with hundred dollar bills taken from their dividends.

I say this as both an RPer and a casual.

Yes they cater only the casuals. It's their main source of income. The game and servers aren't good enough for competitive game modes so there will never be a bigger audience for competitions. Even cross server battleground tournaments had only like 500 views.

They should either make a separate server for competitive pvp and maybe pvevp. Or make a spin of game. Yet both will be obsolete if new world has a successful launch month

Whales, impulsive buyers, monthly subscribers, or anyone willing to buy crowns. Gifting crown bought virtual items also shows movement which is a reason we won't see them tradeable or sold directly via in-game option, it would skew the numbers considerably. People who PvP may not be as big spenders on the cosmetic and customizable side of things.

Yup, there's not much "catering" to RPers to speak of, so having at least that would be nice. Along with not needing to hide in houses. Sure they are great for RP but it would be nice if you didn't always have to out of necessity.

I mean all the best gear, motifs / styles, mounts, etc. all come from either massive crown shop spending, or from high level vet content gaming, neither of which is casual nor RP, so I'd disagree with this whole premise.

Ah yes. The buzzwords 'casual' and 'rp' whenever people are complaining about pvp and its related bugs.

pve has bugs too, and people just love to bring up the old ones that 'StIlL aReN't FiXeD'.

Sometimes I think casual is just a codeword for "PvE" in these threads, as I don't see any other correlation between the problems in the opening post and casual players.

Will never happen, costs too much and would make 0 profit.

    This.

Heck, before MS purchased the company some of the major investors worked for the company. MS purchased Zenimax because Zenimax has several popular gaming IPs and their revenue shows they are successful in managing these IPs. They were the largest privately-held gaming company in the world from what I recall.

Veteran players don't drop the kind of dollar on the game that the clown mount brigade do unfortunately.

Why do you assume that "veteran players" and "clown mount brigade" have no overlap?

(after all, people who've been subbed to ESO+ for years & years, had to spend all those crowns on something. At least they did before the ability to sell them via gifting happened.)

Let's be honest for awhile, they're not catering to anyone currently but people with nostalgia. Pvp, pve, roleplay or housing etc everyone are at the same attention level, some problems are harder to solve and other are dismissed even.

All of us are paying more than enough, it's a meme talking that pvpers or hardcore players don't pay, some want to show themselves that way but absolute most are dropping grand still to look good and have all the recent shinies. Even absolute minimums like dlcs and chapters are a must for every part of population.

I didn't claim there was no overlap.

To clarify, they're two groups with some overlap.

People who make dismissive/derogatory comments about 'casuals and RPers' are probably the same people who think themselves to be epic jaded internet gaming vets, teabagging their way to stardom during holiday events. Glammed up male orc in wedding dress with lower caps name (meme from 2010), dyed bloodroot orange of course, to show all the world they completed a challenging veteran dungeon. Probably also a maelstrom related title, to farm envy points from new players.

The above surely sounds like prejudiced hyperbole, but so is the ridiculous insinuation that roleplayers can't play the 'real' game lmao. Often goes hand in hand with the belief that there's a strict divide between 'serious gamers' who do endgame content and starry eyed 'casuals' who quest like lemmings, play farmville dressup and obviously too naive/stupid/insert cool word to see whatever Real Issues ESO has.

Besides, last time I checked it was a whole lot more challenging to make a house or outfit look perfect than to run any vet whatever. :p

    Fashion is endgame, fite me.
