Yeah I'm seeing Bastian doing this a lot in overland as well, it does however seem to happen at the exact same moment when the boss does a transition move that makes them briefly untargetable. It's like when dragons transition into flight they can't be targeted so the companions disengage drop combat, it's now applying to more mobs when it didn't before.

I think its an adverse effect from the quickened fix where it no longer effects bash, blocking, or roll dodge from my point of view. Particularly block is on cooldown and the mob does a temporary invisibility heavy attack they would block it, but if they're on cooldown then companions just reset from combat and walks away.

Well the problem with that is dodge roll parameters are tied in with weapon type, I deliberately use 1h+shield or frost staff (25% health), two-handed or dual-wield (50% health) so they have a higher threshold of when to dodge roll, this includes caster/healer builds. All the other weapons dodge roll immediately when the mob they are focused on comes into melee range and it takes priority over any action.

Deshaan, WB Druitularg is a good test to see what's going on as his moves are easy to telegraph with a basic rotation. Have your companion go tank mode; you may not see it on the first time or even the first few, but eventually you can catch what's going on. When he does his signature heavy attack where he starts pumping his arms and goes invisible, your companion will put away their weapon then walk next to you then the attack turns onto you or someone else. Your companion has left combat and all their effects have reset. Try to do it solo with no one else around and you'll see it clearly.
