Need Confirmation: Is Motif farming a bannable offense?

lol@zos claiming the economy ain't broke.
There's no such thing in this game, there are hundreds of economies due to its crass guild-based nature.

They'd have to track it. I log in and out all the time, why because I have 8 characters, 7 that I level and 1 that is a mule for my treasure maps. I don't think this would be considered an exploit.

I guess I'm a trifle confused as to why anyone would go out of their way to farm motifs. I've got four principle alts, each of which is equipped with all the basic racial motifs. Usually, I look in no more than five buildings on one alt daily -- rarely, I'll do it with more than one alt daily. Searching through stuff in buildings/houses just isn't something I enjoy very much. Still, I've got half a dozen unused motifs on one of my mules, and I've already deleted several just because I needed the space.

Deleting motifs? Whuh? Truth is, in the time required to hunt down the basic motifs then try to sell them for the amount they currently get I can be out gathering materials worth far more than the time and effort required to deal with motifs.

Each to his/her own, I suppose, but to me motifs are more a PITA than anything else. As to purposely exploiting a game mechanic (though I consider it a cheap exploit) why on earth bother with it. In due course you'll get all the motifs anyway -- again, seems like such a waste of time.

EDIT: Motifs have no intrinsic value other than the 115 xp garnered from initially learning them per alt. If you're a crafter, motifs may have some value down the road in allowing to craft diverse styles, but why anyone would expend additional effort trying to gather them in a hurry escapes me completely. Probably has something to do with instant gratification, but who knows. Contrariwise, gathering materials has a number of benefits -- additional materials from refining, the ability to make items for self or sale, and outright vendoring refined materials to NPCs.

Gads, wrote way too much about such an inconsequential subject. But back to the point: NO I cannot see the devs banning people for engaging in such a worthless activity.

I have no doubt every node has a unique ID and the game logs record (or could be dynamically set to record) all uses of that node by an account or accounts.

I love how people are still trying to claim this is an exploit when Zenimax stated the exact opposite. You're wrong, get over it.
Please LOL my comments. I'm an aspiring comedian.

You come here to admit your offense hahahahh BANNED for life!

    For what?

I call it a clever use of game mechanics

That's the thing; was it an INTENDED or UNINTENDED use of game mechanics?

The traditional definition of "exploit" is the unintended use of game mechanics.

Who cares? They already answered that it's not exploiting and is not bannable.

Hrm, ZOS you might wanna reconsider making the drop rates lower, you really can't afford to *** off the community anymore than you already have with these late game mechanic changes, you guys should have had this delt with a week after it was reported and you did nothing, it was having serious issues with the economy not as much as the dupe bug but enough that it should have had some kind of attention.

You gain experience for learning them? Huh, I didn't know that. My 2 crafters already know all of the racial motifs (they do the crafting for all 8 of my toons, and I like everyone to be in their own racial gear), but maybe instead of selling the ones I find (like I've been doing recently) I should start giving them to my other alts for the xp.

Oh and I might ad that from what I heard this "bug" was reported in the beta and you guys did nothing about it.

Games tend to have a varied definition, but I for one have always felt that you must not punish players for using things like terrain, predictable spawns, etc. But punishing use of automated scripts is fine by me.

If you "manually" spend hours clicking on furniture, it's legitimate as the game design intends for players to search once in a while and you are crazy enough to do it. If you auto-click, I think it should not be allowed.

Anyhow, hard-coded limits/timers is the solution. My very first bug report during beta was how logging in/logging out to search furniture was an obvious opened door that some will exploit.

My personal ethics and definition of fun means I refuse to exploit, script, etc. Not to mention it is really not necessary in ESO.
