Why don't drops function like Dolmen bosses?

For those who don't know for Dolmens: "Each General has an equal chance of appearing at any Dolmen, chosen based on which are needed by all of the players present at the dolmen when they spawn". Bosses you have not killed yet will take priority over ones you and the people around you already have. So the system is there. If you're missing stuff in your collection, why does it not prioritize or weigh these over duplicates?

Everyone reading can guess what drove me to make this... Maelstrom Arena. But obviously for people completing any collections they can have multiple duplicates of everything and have one random piece missing after 100's of runs (Medusa staff). We have transmutes now, so if you're after a rare duplicate drop for whatever reason it is infinitely faster and encouraged to just get the stones and transmute it anyways.

No need to overcomplicate with a token system or whatever have you when an already perfectly fine system is already in the game. In any case, people are sick of jumping through hoops of RNG locked behind content where 90% of it is waiting for waves that fall over instantly.

In the long run this would basically remove the randomness and people will be done by farming earlier than expected. Do not misunderstand me though. I would really like to have a system like this where i can get a guaranteed drop of an item which i do not have collected yet.

But in my opinion this would make farming easier and it will make people leave the content earlier which will make the content die earlier. So i believe due to this reason this will not happen. These type of games needs some randomness to keep people playing but of course that randomness can end with a frustration.

Wait, are you saying that the Dolmen boss that spawns isn't random? That it's from the short list of the ones you still need?

Then why can't I get the last general I need even when I solo them?

Just wanted to add, a similar system exists for crown crates' loot

    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49828/~/what-are-the-odds-for-crown-crate-rewards-in-the-elder-scrolls-online?
On some rewards, chances improve with each successive missed roll and resets once you receive the reward

It could be done with a threshold, to prevent ridiculous things like 500 vMA runs for 1 inferno drop. Will they do it? Probably not, RNG is a cheap and easy way to make content relevant for longer.

Oh, that look really nice. They should apply something like this because duplicates are worst.

And you think that grinding for weapons is what keeps content alive?

Although 200 runs for Arx Corinium could be entertaining, IMHO I don't think it is something that builds the community, because most grinders speedrun through normal, not even look for mobs cause chests are more important and quit as soon as Sellistrix died. And you can see similar process in CR.

Personally i found that achievements, motifs or leads are far more integrating than chasing for weapon you need to have to make your build work.

So please, stop hiding this lazyness of design behind RNG lock and pretend it is somehow better for the game, because in last few updates, ZOS show that they can create a really challenging and fun dungeons (Stone Garden, SCP, DoM, BDV or even now RPB) with great mechanics, good achievements & pretty nice rewards.

Just let them keep work on that, not artificially extending lifespam of the content through RNG, like some second hand mmos do.

I honestly have a hard time believing that this system exists/work.. I've had my main since launch, I've soloed dolmens for years.. I still miss a bunch of generals

I'm pretty sure this dolmen info is more of an assumption? As I remember clearly doing said achievement when was early in the game and it was literally "medusa staff farm" in a way.

Weighed rng would be nice surely, won't need hundreds of runs probably to be done with some obscure set piece but personally transmutation station and now sticker book made those things almost a non issue already to worry that much.

I just leveled an alt this year from 0, now CP 350, and did dailies for mirri rapport and have the achievement. No idea what's going on there.

If you leveled an alt, saying that you are now 350 don't say much.. your main could have been 349 for all we know  but we'll, you have much more luck than me

    The test is from https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:General_Executioner

The spawn rules were last updated in Update 12 (One Tamriel), making I so that every General can spawn in any zone. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/294849/pc-mac-patch-notes-v2-6-4-update-12-one-tamriel

Because it's still random, but weighted towards what you need. So there is still RNG.

I've never had a named boss/General drop when I'm soloing dolmens. I know the Dolmen scales (somewhat) to the number of people there so perhaps the Generals don't spawn if solo?

Generals will Spawn if your Solo. But they are rarer, probably related to the scaling of mob count with dolmens.

They did make a change so that Generals you don't have do have a better chance to Spawn. Which player that is based on is not clear.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Uh, how exactly would having to run content less often affect the tank queue in any way? There's still random daily dungeons, there's still people running specific dungeons for things aside from gear, like Leads. And there are thousands and thousands of players and a slew of sets that drop from dozens of dungeons. No, people having to run specific dungeons less won't affect the tank queue. OP isn't asking for people to get the drops they need right on the first few runs, they're asking for the very reasonable thing of not needing dozens upon dozens upon dozens of runs for specific pieces.

Besides, DPS and even healers these days have to suffer long queue times. I honestly don't see why tanks should be exempt from having to wait too, as unpopular an opinion as that likely is, if something like this was implemented and DID somehow affect tank queues that much. But that won't ever be the case because there's a shortage of capable tanks in the the LFG tool, so they'll always have short queue times, regardless of how many times other people do or don't need to run any given content.
