Invisible Harvest Nodes - Seen with Keen Eye

I have searched this forum and google and cannot find anyone having the same issue..

Since about 48 hours ago (it might have been triggered by getting the Alchemy Keen eye skill), I cant see or harvest Alchemy reagents i find in the world, i see the keen eye effect showing me there is something there. I have observed several times other players harvesting where the keen eye effect is, and the effect going away. I cant see the reagent and i cant harvest it, i dont get the tooltip to press E and pressing E does nothing.

I have to restart the game (logout is not enough) to temporarily fix the issue, this seems to work for between 5 and 20 minutes.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is there anything i can try? Are the devs aware of this issue? What other information can i provide?

I'm seeing something else odd with plants that doesn't fit the 'invisi-bot' theory. I realise that you're not seeing the plant at all but I raise it in case there's something in common here.

I'm well aware of 'invisi-bots', nodes simple disappear as you look at them but I'm getting a LOT of case where the plant is there, I target it and begin to harvest .. then the node vanishes!

Now, if it were being taken by an 'invisi-bot' I'd not be able to start the operation, I'd hear the 'clunk' sound effect I was well used to when 'invsi-bots' were plaguing zones like Bleakrock where I did my early leveling.

This happens a LOT, and in areas where there is definitely no phasing, the other common cause of vanishing nodes, I'm not seeing them vanish until I start to harvest them.

@KerinKor‌ There definitely is a fail chance with nodes. It's very small, but as with all RNG, your luck can be sporadic and not spread out evenly. I know this from the PTS where occasionally nodes would fail to gather anything. There were no bots on that server. If you start gathering and come up with nothing, you probably failed to gather, just like you can fail to extract from raw mats.

Well, maybe you're right, but I don't recall seeing that before the last few days and I've gathered thousands of nodes by now on several characters. Is this something they added or does it only kick in outside the starter islands?

Are you sure there are no bots on the PTS? Let's face it, the bots were developed during the beta test cycle, not impossible the botters have PTS access too.

Don't think it was added recently, unless you mean in the last 5 months. I've definitely observed this behavior in that time. AFAIK it is not something that only kicks in within a given area. Probability is weird and your fail chances may all come at once. It does not mean the chance is high or that it's a new feature. It just means that you got some unlucky rolls all in a row after having nothing but lucky rolls.

As for the OP, I have never heard of or experienced that problem personally. It sounds like a bug with Keen Eye specifically, a perk I have never taken. /bug it and maybe respec until then if you can afford it.

One other thing that just occurred to thinking about it, I'm not seeing the 'failure' on ore nodes or wood nodes, only plant nodes and maybe (not entirely sure yet) rune nodes.

Yes, this has happened to me. I get the glow from Keen Eye but there is no node. I also tried Logout, didn't go as far as quitting out though. I honestly couldn't tell you if it was an alchemy reagent or an iron ore (it was in a cave so it was one of those two).
Would be interested to see how this develops and if there are any other players experiencing this.

EDIT: Also, could the title be changed to "Invisible Harvest Nodes - Seen with Keen Eye" or something. When I first saw this topic I thought your reagents were disappearing from your inventory.

I believe there is going to be a fix for this soon. A lot of nodes are borked, not to mention the ninja bots that are invisible stealing every node they can in front of your eyes....lol

I should note my comments aren't related to Keen Eye, I don't use that skill. I've seen reported of empty 'glowies' from Keen Eye pretty much since release.

Okay I think I know how this is replicated. I was online for about 15 minutes and this happened to me twice and apologies for getting it wrong earlier but a logout/login temp fixes the issue. It seems to happen as you travel. So the nodes are present when you login and then as you travel from your immediate vicinity the nodes start becoming invisible. Also I noticed that when this occurs, water/solvent Nodes in water are visible but not harvestable. I sent in two tickets.

I get this all the time on my main. Even more bizarre is I get invisible sky shard in the open world. I can't see them with our logging.

This was happening to me repeatedly. If I was driving around for a while, I'd suddenly notice *all* nodes doing that.

Once it happened to me, I noticed that every single node was like that - I'd see the glowy effect for keen eye (seemed to be all nodes - I have keen eye for smithing, cloth, alchemy) but no node would be there.

If I logged out and back in, it'd be fixed for a while, and I could see all nodes fine. Then after a little while, I'd be back to glowy effects with no nodes again.

It was happening to me constantly a week ago or so. Every day, every 20-30 minutes I'd have to relog so I could pick up nodes again.

It hasn't happened to me lately though ... not sure if they fixed something, but sounds like others still get it.

It has to do with the view distance slider. Turn it down and the problem should go away. My view distance slider was 35 for weeks and never had this issue. I turned it up to 100 and the next day I was having this exact issue for hours. I checked the forums and saw someone mention the view distance slider and it clicked that I had recently raised it. I went back and turned it down to 35 again and the problem went away entirely again.

I haven't touched distance slider. I did find that /reloadui fixed it for me. I wonder how often my characters not finding any materials in a session are because they usually don't have keen eye!

The actual nodes aren't "broken" as a relog makes them appear and function. I think the issue must client side.

You are not alone as I've posted the same topic

here.

Sadly, no official acknowledgement to see if this is going to be fixed...

PS: This issue is intermittent and the only workaround is to relog to attempt to remedy the issue.

That is an interesting thought. I wonder if that is the case. I am thinking about cupboards though where people are relogging in order loot the cupboards in the other instances too. Obviously nodes aren't lootable chests, they are different.
Also the nodes that are invisible "appear" when I relog.

I too have experienced both "invisible nodes", which trigger the Keen Eye effect but have no materials, and the "magical disappearing nodes", which vanish the instant you try to harvest them.
