Wanting to make a hybrid to freshen up the game.

Hey all,

I want to make a hybrid to give the game a new feeling. I was just curious what class has the best feel for hybrid.

Basically if you have a hybrid class could you give me a little info about your build, how it plays, and what content you do (pve or pvp).

Hopefully from all you different perspectives something will pop out and inspire me.

Thanks in advance for your contributions.

I would recommend dragonknight as a first hybrid. They have easy access to major sorcery and major brutality, as well as both major savagery and prophecy. Covering all your weapon/spell damage major buffs.

They also have hybrid resource management built in through the battle roar passive as well as the combustion passive.

Other good options would be sorcerer, warden, or nightblade

I was considering templar but I forgot about access to major brutality and sorcery. I guess with that in mind it would be dk or sorcerer. I have been playing warden for years so I wanna avoid that one unless someone can really make it seem interesting. NB I just don't really enjoy.

But I will definitely consider what you have mentioned in regards to dragonknight.

I think sorcerer sounds fun just because of interesting line ups like endless fury + executioner.

IMHO the best are sorcerers. Stamsorc can focus on stamina but still use magicka skills like streak or surge and perform really well in both: pve & pvp. Plus have really nice bonus to light attacks, so it perfectly suited to undaunted sets ;)

Sorcerer hybrid with haunting curse + dizzy swing and mag+stam execute can be very fun.

My best hybrid is a DK. The value of access to both major sorcery and major brutality can't be overstated. Sorc hybrid is second. I'm leveling a warden. I imagine that will probably be my second favorite. Classes that have to rely on dizzy swing fall down the list because they are BORING [snip].

I am leveling a DK hybrid right now, inspired by this build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikIubgi9dWg

After thinking it over I am going to go with a dk. I believe flames of oblivion + molten armaments will be a very significant help in making my hybrid.

Crazy enough I had saw that video a day before posting this thread haha.

If you play in groups as DPS hybrid , I’d suggest nightblade in PVE, it’s easiest to reach penetration cap for both stamina and magic abilities when attacking bosses from behind.

For my hybrid, I just used a stamina build, complete with dark shade and incapacitating strike on the front bar for stamina and magic return on every light attack, then swap a couple other stamina skills for class magic skills, like twisting path and crippling grasp. They hit a little weaker, but you’ll never run out of stamina, and there is a lot of magic regen. The dps drop wasn’t too bad

I'm looking forward to building a pvp hybrid templar next patch! Looks like it could potentially be competitive. Or at least more competitive than ever before.
    Magplar heals, stamplar damage.
Power of the Light, dawny, sweeps, jesus beam
Might be great, might be ass, looking forward to finding out :D

You can also throw on Bahsei next patch and run destro backbar and a couple mages guild skills to keep that mag way down and DPS will skyrocket.

Warden is suddenly looking strangely good for a hybrid, especially when the armor changes go live. Stamina subterranean assault is by far the better morph, and you can combine it with strong Magicka skills like Winter’s Revenge and Mystic Orb. Add in Wall and a vMA Inferno Staff back bar, whatever weapon you prefer front bar (dual wield or ice staff seem good). I haven’t done enough testing to say anything conclusively, but it is surprisingly close to meta.

I’m already over 90K in light armor on the current patch on Stamden. When the armor changes do go live I expect it will take a significant jump. Running 7 dots plus poison as well and with changes to deadly the build should really excel. The rotation is kind of a nightmare though not gonna lie 🤣

Doing this for a long time now. Can recommend, it’s lots of fun but rather predictable.

Did you split attribute points between resources?

Yep, along with tri food. Was running pelinals, stuhn, old malacath as primary sets. Going to change at least pelinals next patch.

And aside from predictability it did well for you in PVP? I was on my stamsorc last night thinking about turning it into a hybrid. And was also looking at my stamblade. Only two stam classes I play lol

Hm. Depends. I'm not the best pvp'er by all means & my hybrid builds are rather conservative, so take it with a grain of salt.
I always need some time to re-adjust switching from most mobile stamsorc to "less mobile" hybrid. But it's a question of playstyle. I'm just too comfortable with running Wild Hunt & steed on pure stam but I need higher stat dense on hybrid. So I'm always a bit clunky at first.

Most success with it, compared to stam sorc, I had when sS lacked delayed burst.
With Crystal Weapons + Vat 2h this isn't an issue at all anymore. Sure, you could stack those on top if you want but it's a bit overkill, especially with timing at the beginning. (+ with the change to pelinal's you need a source of major sorcery now which means you'd need crit surge + Rally, so you're hard pressed for bar space to run e.g. vigor).
But CW + DS + H.Curse is still not too complicated to set up and is a great combo. But then again, curse makes it painfully obvious when to dodge your DS.

On a more general note. Going Hybrid is a nice change of pace. But be sure about some things before wasting gold and time on it.
First, think about what your pure build lacks and if you need to go full hybrid to fill that hole.
E.g. Wanna put more oomph into your overload (bow) build? Slot wall of frost with maelstrom and be done with it. No need to go 50:50 stam/mag.
Need a life saver backbar ult but sword & board gets old? Resto staff ult scales, like all ults, with your highest stat anyway. Again, no need to invest into mag. I think you've got the idea.

And second, be prepared to get all kind of messages. I get plenty of nice messages from others that tried those builds but I also got a lot of trashtalk from someone that couldn't handle being defeated by "stupid builds" or when you aren't performing at a high level.

Because la scale with max resources, you can just use bow on a magsorc. Curse, ele weapon, endless fury, ballista. It is insane
