Would need to know your crit damage rating and penetration to even begin to formulate since those two things may be even stronger than either, especially for solo.
Unbuffed Spell Pen is 7274 and Crit Dmg is 20%
With Thief my SD is 3284 and Crit is 63.4
With Apprentice my SD is 3713 and Crit is 53.4
It kind of depends. If you are going after Trial and Vet Bosses, then more Criticals can help over a long time. If you are doing overland, then more Damage will help you as fights are over before you can benefit from the increased crit chance.
I'm trying to decide on Mundus for my Magplar but not sure which is better... more Spell Damage or more Crit.

Even though I only do solo content, I'm not sure if the extra 429 SD would be better than the 10% extra crit since crit is a 'chance' to do extra damage whereas the 429 extra SD would be a constant. Keep in mind the above crit is buffed with Major Prophecy from Reflective Light.
Thanks in advance for the help.

You make a very good point... I never do Trials and rarely solo Vet dungeons... and even when I do solo group dungeons, I tend to focus more on survivability and not raw damage output... so even there the extra SD would be helpful. With WB's I tend to solo them as a tank in full heavy PD/FB so my crit is already extremely low so I don't see Thief helping much there either as it wouldn't get my crit much past 40% anyway.
The extra SD from mundus is not going to be enough to be more effective than pushing SC, even in double-tap situations. If the discussion were PvP, I would absolutely advocate SD over SC to the fullest extent.
I based my assertion from the stats you provided in the OP. I’m not sure why you provided stats if it’s not going to be constant because you’re changing out gear to be more tanky or whatever.
I don’t put on any tank gear to solo world events/bosses. I just put a heal and a damage shield on my bars in the dlc areas so I can still damage things effectively. The less time it takes to kill things, the less I have to worry about resources and any mechanics.
