I get it, everyone wants to make money ( gold ). Me too, but these freaking prices are crazy.
I went to several traders yesterday and perfect roe is costing between 40-50k gold. I remember paying 10k in the past. I am not getting paid any more than what I did in the past, and I don't want to spend my time fishing in the game. I can't even afford to fight for my faction with these prices.
Zeni, needs to step in and stop this madness. Increase the drop rate, or pay me more so I can afford to eat!

✭✭✭Ya I understand prices go up. However, I'm a Grand Overlord Grade 1 and get paid the same crappy rewards that a level 1 pvp player gets that nobody wants. Ya I might get payed a few extra gold but not enough to get by at this high cost of living.
Perfect Roe is part of my Anti-Inflammatory diet. I need it to fight.

✭✭✭If you purely play PvP you must have tons of AP,aren't they worth something if you gamble boxes? I have been away for some time from Cyrodiil and only go ocasionaly there,but back in the day some sets where worth good gold,specially weapons with the right trait.
Or any trait now as we have the stickerbook.

I'm on pc EU I sold 16 perfect roe yesterday the average price was just over 29k on the TTC, I sold mine for 27k each. I have noticed they don't drop as well as they used to and here could be the problem and I put a lot of hours into farming those 16.4 -

Yea on EU roes got for that price,but I guess OP is talking about PC NA where they re selling for around those 40-50k each.

I tried doing that - prices are extremely inconsistent.
If you're lucky and get a precise deadly dagger sure you can earn some coin, but most of the time you get a useless shield or a reinforced set of boots that doesn't sell for much.
I think the most consistent payout comes from the alliance pods and dawn prism.2 -

True, but inflation over time (in the Most Valuable Goods) happens in global-auction-house MMOs, too. It's just a factor of the gold supply increasing, and the rich getting richer.
edit: only thing the devs can do is either increase supply (thereby tanking the value of items), or create more gold sinks. Decreasing the in game sources of gold doesn't help, because the rich still have plenty to toss around, it just hurts the low-end people who live quest reward to quest reward.

If you want to participate in the Trading Economy, you need to also sell things (which also go up in value) in order to keep up. If you just get quest rewards or pvp rewards (which are set, and don't increase with inflation), you'll be left behind. Just the way it is. /shrug

Alchemy bags and Hakeijo are for tel var stones.
Which is another source where PvP'ers can make good gold with,in some cases maybe quicker and better than with stuff they can get with ap.

✭✭✭Thanks for some of the tips. I did spend most my ap gambling at the armor vendor and got a lot of items that have not sold.
It was just disappointing to wake up this morning and think I was going to make some food and about passed out when I seen 10 perfect roe selling for 400k+

✭Yea the prices have gone too high. Yesterday, I needed to buy a stack of 200 tri-pots. One of the biggest guilds had them priced just under 200k. The next trader had them for 70k.A is for Atronach.

✭✭✭✭✭Prices are in an all time high, either because of inflation, or more demand since the stickerbook, or less people farming, but they keep rising. I was hoping the double nodes event would help bring them down a little, but like someone said above, if things sell at those prices, then why sell cheaper. To the OP, if you have the time to spare, I recommend doing some writs and farming, even if you do it for a short time, it's the consistency that matters, and after a few weeks, you will have mats and gold (to buy other mats such as roe, since you don't like fishing).1 -

then it can be easily fixed by increasing supply to match demand.
If Zos increased to drop rate of rare items then the prices would plummet really fast to a healthy level.

✭✭✭I'm not sure why prices are going up so much either. But I do wonder if it's indirectly because of Crown selling though? For people foolish enough to risk violating TOS, it's much cheaper to buy gold online, then use that gold to buy Crown items from other players, than it is to buy Crowns directly. I feel like so many people are doing that, and that's what drives the prices of Crowns up, because Crown sellers know people are buying millions for bargain prices these days and can therefore afford the increase. Which in turn means even more illegal gold is purchased, and now we're seeing that gold influx really hurting the in-game economy.
I could be completely wrong about that, but it's the impression I've been getting with how many people are still happy to regularly buy Crowns at an exchange rate of 1:800+. There's no way all those players are farming that kind of money themselves, right?
So in essence, another reason why ZOS should do as much as they can to stop bot farming. If my theory is right, no bots would soon sort out both the in-game economy and the Crown trade. Though presumably, a bot-free Tamriel is also impossible

The value of gold decreases rapidly with the inflation that is going on right now. On your down time I suggest farming gold materials and banking them. You can always sell a few those to buy what you want at that time period. I have seen you in game fighting hard for DC, I have some perfect roe you can have if you are interested; send me a mail in game if you are.2 -

✭✭✭Demand for many things has gone way up. There is less surplus that people are willing to sell because they use what they farm themselves. There are lots of different reasons of this, most intentionally implemented by zos. For instance, purple food was nerfed into the ground. Demand for roe has been climbing ever since. New CP was released. Demand for dust and roe has been climbing ever since. Sticker book was released. And in addition to this, zos has been making a lot of changes to make multiple different gear setups viable for each class. What is BiS is now a lot more situational than it used to be. This is kind of a nice change. The result of these combined changes is that demand for equipment mats is now basically insatiable. It probably won’t be this way forever, but right now is a really good time to farms some mats and sock away the gold if you are so inclined.3 -

✭✭While I understand the angst regarding gold prices, with a little consistent effort to lay the groundwork to obtain sell-able items, and an eye for what players will pay for, gold is really pretty easy to get. It may not be the way you want to play the game, but if you want to purchase things with gold, you kind of have to bite the bullet.
ZOS is highly unlikely to intervene in the games economy...especially when engaging in it means you'll spend more time logged in...which is a metric for profitability.
I do get it that prices can feel greedy and repulsive. But it's the normal result of a free economy...and there is a game path to deal with it...if you're willing to put in the effort.
Engaging in the ESO economy is part of the game. Like any other part you have a choice to play it or not. But if you want gold, you're going to have to play the game in a way that obtains it. Unless you have a rich friend like me

They've been INCREASING inflation.
The new CP items in 2.0 that weren't in 1.0 add to inflation (increasing gold found, reducing repair costs, reducing wayshrine costs, reducing usage of potions). Daily logins instead of being cute cosmetics have more and more become currency bribes and consumables. Endeavors even give away gold.
The closest thing to a gold sink they've added is *one* new luxury furnishing item every couple weeks. Which is typically at a comparable price to the others.Edited by Fennwitty on August 8, 2021 3:17PMPC NA2 -

Writs are often cited, but their effect is more complicated. In terms of gold mats available, not enough people are doing writs to meet demand, and that is why the price goes up. Writs are by far the most time efficient way to obtain gold mats. If more people did writs, those prices would probably go down, not up.
