What are you looking for here exactly…?

People can be unkind. I don’t think it represents the community as a whole. I’ve met some wonderfully kind people playing this game.

“Elitist” isn’t even the term. I know some very skilled players that are still kind and we have good times.

That interview already sparked a couple of threads here. I agree that ESO is an MMO because it is a multiplayer game on a large shared world, however the proper term is MMORPG as this isn't Eve Online or Planetside 2.

As for our community we have many great people of all skill levels. This game is probably the most friendly I've played and the few bad apples we do have don't spoil the whole bunch as badly as other games.

To the OP, Firor didn't exactly say that ESO is an RPG, unless there were other quotes someplace that I missed:

I think it's a very mixed community in experience/play styles and demands.
I'd bet that those complaining about ESO turning into a a more casualized RPG are those players who have spent over 5 years in the ESO environment and have seen a bit of everything and have seen some aspects of the game change to something a little more 'dull' (I can vouch for this - 7 years ongoing).

Then you have those that negate anything you say, because they feel you are stepping on 'their' vision of the game. It's mostly just about preferences and I suppose one shouldn't get too aggravated by it. What you should get a little 'angry' about is the crummy performance/fixes...not the fact that its' an online MMORPG...let's find something in common!

Oh and yes. If I pay for something I want it to work...hence the term 'investment'...of course we aren't getting finances in return and no it's not wall street (strange comparison), but at the end of the day a service is a service and you go elsewhere when it isn't satisfactory, but in an MMO+RPG environment it is hard to do so because of all the time you have 'invested' and knowing you'll have to do the same elsewhere.

(says this, but the same rule applies above - if you haven't experienced it or deal with it on a daily basis it doesn't bother you and this is why I find it always important to introduce yourself as player and what you do in game)

You know, this one time, at band camp, I made this delicious lasagna. I was about to sit down and eat when a someone came and said “Wow, that looks like a tasty casserole!” Funnily enough, their comment changed neither the taste nor how satisfied I felt after eating a piece. Odd huh?

I know quite a few, myself. They cited both the community and how moderation handles the community. One conversation went, "If that's how they handle their forums, that doesn't exactly give me hope that if something happens in game that issues will be resolved."

And you know what? I didn't argue with that.
