Agreed! I don’t know why it hasn’t been implemented since I’ve heard it was in beta or early on anyway. It’s not like I dislike all the shoulder options and on some outfits they are part of what makes the look but other times I could better achieve the look I want without any shoulder piece.

It would also be great if there was an option to hide detached tassets — ones that aren’t even attached to the chestpiece but float over the character’s hips. :persevere: There are more of these that bother me even more than the shoulder pieces tbh!

Hiding shoulders seems like a no brainer and has been brought up many times. I don't think I've ever seen a post from someone who has a problem hiding shoulders.

I would love to see the option to hide any/all pieces due to the creativity it can provide. A bare-chested Nord barbarian. A Khajiit or Argonian who wants to fight with all claws available (hide hands & feet). My own tiny Bosmer would love to wear a mid-thigh tunic and no pants (no more revealing than the current Mazzatun 'legs'). Hide helms is already done of course. Belts - why not?

Speaking of belts, I would love to see any and all hip, butt and crotch flappers connected to the belt instead of the chest. This would provide ever so much more flexibility (as well as good reason to hide belts, lol). Some belts could be offered sporting appearance accessories like a pouch, coin purse, book, potion holder.

I have seen objections to 'hide any/all piece(s) over 'some characters would run around naked'. Two relevant comments there:
    1. That ship has already sailed (Nordic Bather towel, ability to strip down to undies already).
    2. Not allowing things in the game that irritate/offend folks is a bad slippery slope. This said as someone who doesn't really want to see duels in crowded areas, exploding neon horses, etc. I don't want those kinds of things deleted from game though since I strongly believe offering players plenty of creative options strongly trumps ensuring no one is 'offended'.

Let's go a step further and just let us remove them all together. Very few of them look good and very few players like them.

If we can't hide them, at least eliminate them from all light and most medium armor styles. They are at least appropriate on heavy armor.

We've been asking for this for years, it's pretty obvious they don't care/ want to. Doesn't help that every one of these topics gets derailed by someone saying they don't want to wear pants.

Check out light Honor Guard shoulders and light or medium Ancient Orc- I forget which one. With the right chest piece you'll barely notice them.

I'd rather hide my floating hip flaps than anything, but agree wholeheartedly all the same.

I just don't see why we can't hide any parts of our armour in general. Even if people just ran around with loin cloths on how would it be any different to seeing people run around with bright pink bathing towels or whatever fancy dress they have for sale in the crown store this month?

If my unit of an Orc wants to smash everything in front of him with nothing but the hide of some bear wrapped around his treetrunk legs, he should be able to.

They definitely should let us hide the shoulders.

I imagine hiding the tassets/faulds, however, would be more effort since they're attached to the torso. Meaning, ZOS would probably need to manually edit them for every torso to make them separate in order to hide them. Unless there's some big brain way of doing this for all of them easily, this is probably much less likely to happen.

I also doubt it would impact performance much.

Yeah they should just let us hide whatever. Like why can't my elves and khajiit be barefoot? The closest thing is having them run around in sandals or footwraps. There's also times I'd like to hide the tops because of the annoying attachments on the hips. Even when it comes to costumes, the option to hide things would be nice!

Most of these discussions eventually go down a rabbit hole by saying if you hide one then why not make them all optional. Then other parts of the community chime in saying it'll break lore if you start making more things optional, then people become dramatic and suggest people just wanna run around with nude characters or something.

I don't understand the point of getting unique skins and tattoos in the game when most of the current styles cover up +70% of them. The cash grab costumes show more, but most people use costumes because they're tired of shoulder pieces, arm guards, and high socks. Costumes are nice and all but you can't mix and match anything with them and eventually become tiresome to have just one look all the time.

Players just want their characters to look good, and not exactly like everyone else. The more items we can hide, the more customizable we can be.

They can't even claim its because of nudity if we can hide this stuff... we can already run around naked if we so choose... so I don't see the issue with this. First thing I do with new toons is destroy all the pointless clothing you start in... so I can see my toon put gear on...

Posted the same in another related thread. Guess we just gotta keep asking until it happens.

I've got to add my support for this. These are what I personally see as MUST HAVES:

    Hide shoulders
    Hide hip plates
    Hide crotch flaps
    Hide Chest
    Hide Gloves
    Hide Belt
    Hide Shoes

Attaching the hip plates and crotch flaps to belt would be a nice add as well. However, I'd still want the belt, crotch flap, and hip plates to be individually hidden. Sometimes, certain pieces look good and others don't. This would give the ultimate in flexibility.

Right now, as powerful as the outfit station is, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of being able to customize your look.

One of the only things in this game that has often made my blood boil....

I mean we can hide helms, so what is the problem here on ZoS's part I would dearly love to know because we have literally been asking for this since beta and get ZERO acknowledgment or explanations...

It's bad enough that you have to chuck out oodles of gold just to test a colour, let alone your entire armour set... but the fact we cannot toggle off shoulders, belts, gloves, etc. as you can in other games is just sheer annoyance pandering.

I would like to hear an actual technical reason why this is not possible, because short of that - their continuing to ignore this just seems careless at best, spiteful at worst.

I really only see them adding the option to hide shoulders, chests, legs, belts, hands, and feet. Hiding "crotch flaps" and faulds, unfortunately for you guys, is probably even less likely to happen. I'm assuming ZOS would have to go through every one of the hundreds of armor styles and edit the models so those parts can be hidden, which I don't see them doing. The head, chest, legs, belt, hands, and feet are presumably all separate models, which is why you're able to mix and match them. The faulds and flaps aren't. The exception is that the tabards replace the torso of chest armor, but I assume that's an ability they add to every new armor anyway.

Surprisingly, every single option to hide different pieces is already there in the current game and has been there since at least 2017/2018 -- including hip tassets and loin cloth. Being an addon developer, you get to see some of the deeper API calls and things in the game. The options seem to be hidden client side, and locked server side so they cannot be altered via addons, etc (see my other post on another similar topic below). Going off of that information, presumably the tassets and loin cloth may actually be "child" attachments to the main "parented" piece (chest, legs, etc) via X, Y, Z coord or attachment point Ids. This could support why they move differently than the leg/chest armor when your player moves. With this type of trait, visibility should easily be toggled via the game or an addon if they are enabled at some point. Another interesting point to make here is we know that the hips (and sometimes loin cloth) sometimes appear to "float" (similar to shoulders) or appear completely out of place depending on things like character size, etc. To me, this further supports that they may be separate models and not scaled/attached properly to fit. With the parameters from the ESO API, visually seeing the difference in movement, and having worked on 3d modeling for video games - I would bet the aforementioned is likely the case and it is entirely possible to hide what a player wishes to. The caveat here is the community doesn't have access to the actual model files or coded information from devs to confirm everything. We know one thing for sure, the option to do all of this IS in the code, the rest only the devs truly know.

ZOS has no doubt heard this discussion on many occasions, the question is will they.

+1 from me on adding the options and even more amazing customization to the game.

Get rid of hip flaps and crotch flaps (or at least provide a toggle to hide them).
Believe it or not, there is already the option to hide tassets and loin cloth. Interestingly enough, if you look in the ESO API, the option is there. The tassets/loin cloth is (hidden) under Settings-> Gameplay in the same spot where you can hide mount appearance features and polymorph helm. The ability to hide other armor pieces like shoulders, etc are in the same spot as the "Hide Helm" option at dye stations but they as well are still hidden/locked out (shoulders, etc). All of these options have been there for years.

Case and point, it's there, it's just not enabled for players. I would have to guess one big reason "why" we don't have these options yet is the endless controversy of hiding armor pieces other than a helmet. Some of the same people that boast "let people enjoy things" are the same ones that double-standard it because of the potential to inconvenience their ideal "standard" since people might just end up running around in their digital underwear. :o Thing is, people already do this anyway by taking their armor off. Personally, I have a feeling extending more options with character customization design to how anyone personally wants their character to appear would FAR outweigh the latter worries in a positive way and benefit everyone in the longrun.
