Things I'd like to see in this MMO

Like the title suggests, these are things that I think would make the game just a little bit more enjoyable than it already is.

Character Creation/Customization:

1. A save/load customization option. Lots of people spend hours making that perfect character, but maybe just one thing is off that they couldn't tell was there until after the character is made.

2. A slider for the width of a character's mouth. We can pretty much adjust everything else so not sure why this wasn't included.

3. A tail-length slider. Not sure why this one wasn't included either.

4. Unlimited adjustment attempts from character select screen. Basically it's an extension of #1 on this list as in you'd be able to go back whenever you want and make adjustments to your character's physical parameters. Obviously the limits would be that you wouldn't be able to change name, gender, race, class, or faction. Also this shouldn't require any sort of fee both in-game or in real life.

5a. A custom costume creator.

5b. Separate items for each of the appearances of the multi-appearance costumes. I personally find the costumes that continuously keep changing their appearance from one zone to the next frustrating when it's only one iteration of that costume that I actually wanted.

6. Saddle Style Options for Horses.

Graphics:

1. The ability to set the game resolution to something higher than your desktop settings. I can set the game's resolution to a setting lower than that on my desktop, but attempting to set it higher does nothing. It's annoying to have to set my desktop resolution higher every time I want to play the game in a higher resolution.

Now while I am well aware that I could just adjust the DPI settings for Windows, it has the unfortunate side-effect of making the mouse cursor disappear in fullscreen mode of a large amount of games I play.

2a. Camera horizontal/vertical adjustment slider. Just the ability to adjust where the camera is positioned while traveling and fighting (separate settings).

2b. A free-roam camera mode for taking snapshots.

3a. First-person view while on horseback.

3b. First-person view while swimming.

4. Slightly adjust the placement of sheathed shields so that long hair doesn't clip through them while running.

Sound:

1. A Dolby/DTS output option.

2. Something that will automatically lower the volume of everything else when voice dialogue is taking place so I can actually hear what's being said. Not fun walking along side someone as they speak to you only to have their voice drowned out by the booming sound of a Coldeharbour anchor being dropped (as an example).

3. Increasing the voice volume of certain dialogue that for no reason has it's volume turned way down low mid-conversation.

...I thought of more. Decided to post it further down.

Seems to me that someone wants City of Heroes back. :)

It is rare that a company goes back and does much with their character creation process, but it would be nice to see a lot of those things implemented.
Side effects of reading messages on forums can cause nausea, head aches, spontaneous fits of rage, urination due to intense laughter, and sometimes the death of your monitor or other object in throwing range. If you find that you are reading forums more than 24 hours a day, please consult your nearest temporal physicist.

The ability to create "templates" for character appearance on the login screen would be nice. You could load/save them as you please...but then once you create a character that is permanent. I think that is a reasonable compromise.

Another thing I feel needs adjustment - the "voice" option in character creation. It's very difficult to get a feel for how the character sounds, because the "voice" is really quiet and just makes a couple different yelling/laughing noises. It would be nice to have an option of a bunch of different sound clips, so we could actually hear how the character sounds. And make them louder! It's impossible to hear over the music at all, but even if you turn the music off they're really quiet.

I'm not totally against the idea of player housing/guild halls, but at the same time I don't really see any advantages to it either. That said, the main thing I think would really help this game, is to severely expand the bank space.

I think the bank should START at 200-250 slots, and be expanded from there, perhaps even up to 1000. The current character inventory sizes (60-110, with horse upgrades as well) is fine. I've never needed to carry more with me than that. But the bank, especially given that it's shared among all characters, needs a MASSIVE boost.

    I agree:

    Templates for Char Creation please.

Unlimted customization, would love that, always good to tweak your char every so often, even add in new adornments and hair styles over time to the game I hope. Want a *** with a pencil thin mustache for the wood elf, and Nords need mullets, cause MULLET !

A secondary worn page on inventory screen that just holds your old items you found look good on you, but you get no stats from them. Can even make drops that have special looks, or ultra rare recipes that have no sat items that can be made to give certain looks character effect visuals.

Display settings, if you want that stuff, sure, more options is better than no options.

Housing should be easy to shunt into a pocket dimension and explainable the same way in mage guild quest line you have cheese monger hollow. The mage guild creates a new pocket realm for a player guild if they donate the right amount of coinage, and it has a main hall in the center of the area, with enough room for a good half acre for every player in said guild a plot.

Locks on inventory/bank items so that you don't deconstruct them or sell them.
  • Casanovious
I'd like a lock pick skill so my CHARACTER could learn to pick locks instead of ME having to learn. My real life dexterity is not so great.... I'd like the ability to swim around islands and on the coast without automatically dying, and the ability to swim underwater (with a breath meter on the screen). With the ability to swim underwater, we'd need a water breathing enchantment, spell and/or alchemy effect, some underwater content, etc. Oh, and more inventory space pls. :)

I'd also like to see characters automatically sheathe their weapons when they are no longer in combat. Pressing Z is such a grind.

player housing would be great, make it 100,000 for the shell, upgrades extra, let us store stuff elder scrolls style >.< .. per character, then the bank makes sense to move stuff between toons or for account storage.

I love how this part of the forum has basically become the catch-all discussion, feedback, support and complain forum.

That should suggest something to ZoS about their forum layout...

    Player Housing

No, just no (at the moment). The game is just barely off it's launch pad, seriously, economically (in-game) it's way to soon for it.

This is why we need a general discussion forum. I agree it's slightly too early for player housing because ideally, it should be a big money sink and not a lot of people have that much money.

More bank spaces would be nice. Currently, I have a character called "My Provisioner", "My Woodworker" etc. And when I'm on my main and have a full inventory, and bank my items, I need to log into 7 other characters to place the banked items in the inventory and even now I've run out of space on all 8 characters.

To the OP, I agree with everything.

Sign, but I dont really care about character customization that much.
What I want for that particular thing, is a Random Name Button.
Coming up with names for new characters is by far the most difficult thing, like, ever.

    Factions:

    - Restricting Cyrodiil servers by faction. So that choosing a server for a character from one faction would prevent it as a selection for any of your other characters of the opposing factions. This would need to apply to both Home and Guest selections.

    That's why I created this addon: http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info256-StowItAuto-Sheather.html

All it does is sheathe your weapon when you leave combat.

    Try it out!
