Ummm.....that's it for companions?

I know most people here only care about pvp but still, nothing new for companions beyond some minor bug fixes?

What about giving them multi-specs or their own inventory to store their own gear?

What about buffing the companion skills that are completely useless? Like most of Mirri's class tool kit, most of the fighter's guild and undaunted skill line, etc?

What about giving players some control over companions. Like telling them where to stand like skyrim so they can stand on pads and stuff, or let us set their combat behaviour so they don't dodge roll away from enemies till boss resets?

Or anything else really. Companions still feel very half baked, really disappointed to see pretty much zero change.

It's disappointing to see that they were the core element of a 40€ expansion and still feel really shallow.
They're not supposed to replace a player in any group content but for gods sake why do they have to stand in aoes at all times? My bastian has 3 heals slotted but proceeds to stand in aoes and not dodge out / neither use his heals. Imo they die too quickly and don't have really have any place anywhere besides being tiny extra loot machines who can drop me some extra items I could fetch some gold for. I'd like to have bastian as a tank or support and actually stay alive through a fight but they can't even handle FG I on vet because they feel the need to absorb anything red on the floor.

I'd already be happy if they'd allow us to use hairstyles and beards on companions... or helmets.

Buffing useless skills would be a bonus admittedly ;)

Idk why companions compared to pvp, a lot of pve players can't care less for them also. It was a shipped feature, not sure why anyone would expect major overhaul next patch. Zos is probably happy about it already and not gonna waste any more time on it that soon, apart of dropping one more in next dlc/chapter at best (please not as dlc feature zos, WTB actual new ones)

I -Wish- we could customize what they had on when we put'em in our house.

I got an Aldmeri home for example.. Would love to be able to put Mirri in aldmeri costume and have her walk around to complete the look.

      Same for Bastian..

While we're at it.. Please let us put helmet on them and adornments........

I don't expect so fast new features, now they mostly bugfixing and making thousands other things. I'm only shocked that after 1,5 month from release they didn't say a word about missing system of changing look of other companions. It supposed be like it is in quests with followers like Lyris, where you don't see clones but random NPC in place of other player Lyris.

There is no information if they just have some trouble and they are working on this or just completely abandoned whole idea.

Just stop attack of the clones!

Companions appear to be designed for the same people who consider a glob of green snot following you around makes for a cute pet. They are obviously not intended to be actually useful in challenging content. The biggest complaint about them tends to be that you can't change their appearance appropriately. That pretty much sums it up.

Yes, ZOS introduced them as some major feature, but at the end they are just gimmick with impaired functional, companions need improvement.

First off.. QoL feature needs to be added to their UI so we can see their rep, current / max. I know there is an addon that does this, but it would be SO help as a QoL feature.

Second, we need a 3rd companion. It's such a pain getting them to max, level, rep, etc. to have to turn around and do it a 2nd time for a 2nd build setup. A third companion would be ever so lovely. I have one setup as a dps, one as a healer, and getting a 3rd would let me setup one for tanking.

I find them useful once you invest in them for solo content, mildly in 2-3 man content. Their AI is still off. Like dodging for no reason, because their target is doing an attack that doesn't target them, or doing an attack in their general direction but could have just sidestepped/blocked to avoid it.

Overall enjoy them, but needs more polish, QoL improvements and a 3rd companion in my opinion.

I don't think people realize that this is just a first pass on the companions, they need to make sure the system is working before they can add bells and whistles.

Make sure the wheels stay on before worrying about paint, polish, chrome, and upholstery.

I think most here are focused on PvE more than PvP since that seems to be the major focus of the game.

I expect Zenimax will tweak some companion skills eventually as players settle more into how we use them and more players get them. Heck, what is useless to one player may be a desired skill for another player so it is important to give these things time.

Also, we already have the ability to multi-spec companions. Merely change the gear and skills and it is done.

Being we can change their spec so easily is the reason companions should have their own inventory for gear. We may use them as a DPS on one character, a healer on another, and a tank on a third character. Since their gear does not change when we swap to a different toon it becomes a problem managing their gear. This becomes an inventory management problem as is probably the weakest part of the companion system design.

From reading Volsung's post it seems they are speaking to the possibility Zenimax will make changes as they see how we use them and how effective, or ineffective, they are. It makes sense to me.

"Merely." It isn't that "merely". We should have multi-spec options not only for companions, but for our characters as well.

Dont expect them to buff or improve companions. We have alot of players who only pull 5k, 10k dps and die in normal dungeons. They don't want companions replacing people.

Actually, I expect them to nerf the Fighters Guild skills soon, by removing the bonuses against daedra/etc.

Oh you sweet summer child - they won’t add anything to this. They likely won’t even acknowledge the 2 main complaints (hats + storage) if they can help it. All they really mean by “build upon” is that they’ll sell you more of these useless clones down the road.

Companions are basically pets, with a few pieces of gear and skills thrown in to give the appearance otherwise. I wouldn't expect them to develop into much more than that.

I do wish they could be hidden from view. As beautiful as ESO is to look at, they look downright silly and distracting chasing around after their owners.

i would expect any expansion on the companions to come next update, since it's the zone update.
dungeon updates don't generally have much in them beyond the new dungeons and sets
