Old and young in Tamriel - the age of your chars

I'm just curious - do you design your characters in such a way that they appear at a similar age to yourself (apart from the fact that life expectancy in Tamriel is sometimes "a bit" longer ") or completely independently and only related to the respective background story?
My chars appear to be of a similar age to myself - although it happened rather unconsciously.

I think that all my characters actually have their age slider at the lowest setting. I could be wrong. But I know for a fact I've only ever made one character "older". His face bothered me so I eventually used one of the free race change tokens to change his appearance.

All the RPGs I grew up playing had a main character who was young adult aged, just starting off in the world, so that's what feels natural to me.

I put them on the youngest setting but now that I think about it they're all elves so they're prob still older.

My characters are a mix of ages.

Everything from fresh-faced Hirelings leaving the Dunmeri territories to find their path, to the older, and wiser, Spellwrights or Masters that actually travel in the world to effect real change.

For some reason I still can't picture any human under 25 (or 50-75 for one of the elven races) actually getting a job done right the first time without oversight. However, I will definitely accept that is informed by own bias.

As I have written, my characters seem to be of a similar age to me. When I think about it, it is actually the case that my chars have been "aging with me" since TES III-IV - in TES IV Oblivion my characters were all at the lower limit of the age slider, now they tend towards the middle. :)

I have the age on the lowest setting, because it honestly looks the best. :#
Only my main is set on another option (nr.2 on the slider), because I wanted her to be a little bit more mature.

It's weird when you set the age to the maximum, but the only thing that changes is the face. Wrinkly old face with smooth tight abs.

Younger, because if they were the same age as myself they too would have problems getting out of bed in the morning. Also I'm not sure what kind of an adventurer you would make with advanced arthritis and constant back aches, but I don't think it would be a very fun life, so I choose younger.

I always use the default lowest setting on the character creation slider, unless there's a particular character where I envisage him/her being an older one and there might be one character out of over forty in ESO that I've made older. However, the idea of having all my characters running around Tamriel at my RL age isn't an appealing one!

I have characters in various age groups, though the majority is middle-aged.
I have mages/scholars in the older category, while thieves/swashbucklers tend to be on the young(er) side. In case of my warriors/soldiers/knights and hunters it varies.

Very varied. Due to reasons of making sense many of my alts are young-ish (as in "wait, you are 108 years old and still lvl 1? What the heck have you DONE with your life??), but I do vary it up. Some are middle-aged, for example, as I am myself at 49.

Although the majority of my characters are one the youngest or next to youngest points on the slider, I have a few who are middle-aged to wise. It depends on the backstory for each of them, what they are out doing in the world, and well... the aesthetics, too.

Also, even though his appearance may be on the youngest setting, I have an Altmer who is well into his 100s. Age is relative which such variable lifespans according to the races.

But their age differs from each other (I also have a father and a daughter) and mine. In addition, all but one are elves, so they can be still young in the "multiple 100s" years old anyway :D

My logic is, if there's a day/night cycle, then time is progressing. Besides ZOS has only ever given us vague answers or dodged the question, which leaves it up to us to decide.

And the idea that the last 6 years of content all happens within a single in-game year is just...what's another word for stupid?

But how do you explain things when the in-game time starts to catch up to the events of other TES games? If we hit 2E 882, for example, we're at the year that Dagoth Ur makes his presence known to the Tribunal. At some point, Barilzar creates his Mazed Band and goes on to become a lich in death. Baar Dau gets hollowed out to become the Ministry of Truth. Etc etc... The events of ESO can't take place at the same time as all of those things do.

Reminds me of something I read in the lore subreddit about that a dragon break in ESO would involve the simultaneous convergence of like 7,000,000 different timelines. That'd be one hell of a dragon break.

Well I am not sure how to compare Khajiit ages with Bosmer or human but...

I try to make characters I find attractive, so they are much younger than me, at least visually. Even though my main has grey hair (it looked silvery-blue on the character creation screen, which was my intent.)

I don't think an old character would be much of an adventurer. They'd be like Ri'hirr and Jylta and handing out assignments.
