Class Slotted Passive Class Ability Killed Me When I Switched Weapons

So I'm a Nightblade and unlocked the Shadow Line Fortitude 2. +4% Health per shadow ability slotted. I have 3 abilities slotted on my melee weapon load-out and 0 shadow abilities on my ranged load-out.
I started out on my Melee set and had 1412 Health. During a fight with a troll my health is low and I dodge away from an AoE attack switched to my Bow (ranged weapon bar) AND KILLED MYSELF!!! My health lost the +12% fortitude from my melee bar because for some reason slotted doesn't mean slotted it means ACTIVE.
Not sure what developer came up with this nonsense but it's just really ***. All of the almost useless passives that required "slotted" became a total waste of skill points.

lol I just figured that it would only relate to your Max HP. Are you sure you just didn't die from melee and lag.(making it look like they were farther away than they really were?)0 -

It might have been a bug. Hadan_of_Rift✭✭✭✭Yes I agree. The passive system is terrible and seems to discourage changing weapons.
Yeah, and since you only have 12 ability slots total it really screws everything up. I completely get the whole active pet abilities or toggle abilities needing to be on the active bar, but SLOTTED should mean it's taking up one of your 12 SLOTS and have nothing to do with what weapon you have active.0 -
Xithian✭✭✭As a fellow nightblade I feel for you...but I also agree with Gisgo there. I would have stared at my screen for a few seconds in horror before laughing very hard.
I disagree that the system discourages changing weapons. The bonuses shouldn't make or break you, and if you feel that they do then you should make sure you have some skills from that path slotted on both bars.
I would agree that dying from it like you did is a bug and hopefully not working as intended. It should affect Max Health only.
Edit: Also, if it worked how you wanted, almost every NB in existence would have a 2nd bar of nothing but assassin skills and probably never actually swap to that bar...ever.Edited by Xithian on April 26, 2014 6:19PM1 -

I doubt that since I barley can have the skills I want on my bars as is. That is the limiting thing you only have 10 standard abilities. I could easily have 15-20 on my quick slot bars if the game allowed it. Wasting slots for +4% is not a value compared to having one of the many abilities that are useful.

Pressure Points: +3% crit for each assassin ability on your bar. A full bar would mean +15% crit chance. People most certainly would abuse that.
My build has served me well and I don't even have a weapon on swap at Vet 1. I've found the skills that work for me. It's frustrating early on when you're trying lots of skill combos, but down the line you figure out what works for you and what doesn't.0 -
