The debate about auction house comes up a at least monthly here on the forums. The long and short of it is PC players like it for the most part due to add-ons making it a lot easier and time savings compared to console where many players hate it due to its time-consuming nature.
The question for console players is do I play the game today [questing, dungeon, trials, farming or fishing etc.] or do I play the game where I visit the over 200 traders in game and growing with each land expansion in game. Written down where and at what price something is an and hope I don’t run out of my time to play that day and go back to purchase said items or just remember it for future reference.
A central listing house with location and prices with history would be a great help for the console players. Sure, finding something at a great price is nice but shopping is not something I enjoy in real life and I am sure as “blank” not doing it in game when ZOS makes it so difficult for base game players.
Stay safe and enjoy the journey 😊
PS, ZOS stop the micromanagement of the green tree 🥺

Because they don't enjoy it THAT much! But heh, to each his own. I seriously doubt it makes a difference what any of us think about it, because it's highly unlikely it will ever change.

I ended up selling ONE companion staff after weeks of trying. I've got DOZENS of things I could have sold (and sold while they were still WORTH something... now, many of the companion items are trader trash, where they used to be worth millions, in some cases).
If I'd had a place I could sell them without needing a guild, that would have been very helpful.

The fact that TTC is needed for PC in the first place showcases the problematic design of ESO's trading system, and highlights the need of a central trading center.

Each player gets a lot of gold by simply playing. It's comparable to everyone in country having money printing machine. Thus amount of gold in the market is increasing by a lot every single day. This make gold less valuable because if anyone have a lot of gold they can outbid each other until they find new, suitable price. That's simple rule of market. That's inflation. Right now inflation is out of hand. 800 for 1 crown? 150k for Chromium Plating? In some cases prices have risen by 200% since last year. It's economical disaster. But what we currently have, 100-200% price raise/year it's nothing compared to what we would be facing if we had guildless auction house. Because each week a millions of extra gold is sucked out of the market for bidding for guild traders. And not all of that gold comes from 7% guild tax. There are also members that didn't made required sales and have to pay to the guild for it. There are officers that pay into the guild for it to have a better spot. And if playerbase would be sucked out of trading guilds, the guilds would have less money to bid for trader. All of them.
The day ZOS introduces guildless auction house would be the day i turn all my gold reserves into chromium platings. Because within several weeks gold would be worth less than 1% of it's value and something else will become new currency.

You can try joining a low end trading guild with no dues, there are PLENTY of them.
You can also turn the chat off for the guild if you don't want engagement. That is what I do for most of my guilds.
And BAM, you can enjoy the game as you always have and have a free trader

You can't turn the chat off if you're on Console. You also can't block someone so if someone you don't like is spamming chat, then you have to deal with it.

Ok, from what I've heard:
1. Guild finder is too hard to use. People want to type in the name of whatever guild they're buying from and BAM be accepted. (NO one seems to realize the wait list length for prominent trade guilds)
2. Reading guild requirements is too hard (got kicked over dues/donations, playing in offline mode and not popping online every week, etc)
3. NO BECAUSE TRADERS ARE CAPITALISM*
This is an entirely serious answer. Whenever I have asked @Sheezabeast 's question in game, these are the 3 answers I get.
*(with a big jab at Mr. I-bought-every-kiosk-in-Rawl-on- PCNA-to-show-how-bad-capitalism-is, which led to multi-bidding being implemented)

So it's just not about the trading guild bro. Your looking at it from a selling stand point. Look at the buyers standpoint.
PC uses an addon that helps point them in the direction of where the item could be..... What does console have to do something similar? It's a waste of time trying to find that motif or weird gear piece your looking for to try. Want to waste 4 hours to try it out and then go hmmm I'm not getting that 4 hours of my life back after it didn't work out?
There is also major major major price differences of items ok console. Wanna know how I made crazy money every week without ever farming? Go to every city and search for high end pvp gear/PvE gear. Buy them all for under 7k turn around and sell them for 100+k just because my guild trader owned a major guild spot........
People say this doesn't create a problem but that right there is already easy to manipulate because a lot of people won't take 4 hours to search up items. When I left for ff14 I literally have 500mil just sitting there for if I ever return.
Want to know what an auction house/central hub does? It shows everyone what the actual prices of items are so we don't have stuff like what I did happen. But it's not just my fault, I guarantee most of the people I bought from legit had no clue what the item was worth because they didn't go to the main city to check. Or maybe they did but they only had a free trader in the middle of no where that most people don't check so they felt like an amazing deal for someone would actually move it, because if I didn't make crazy profit on it I wouldn't purchase it for resale.
3)???? This is not a serious answer.

I’m not disagreeing with anything that you said, but these are all answers I have gotten from zone chat when the topic of why people refuse to sell/use trade guilds.
And yes #3 is a serious answer, or is from the people who believe thst. Remember the 50 people who joined 5 fake guilds to ultimately buy out every trader in Rawl’kha as a show of how “bad” capitalism is? (this was on PC/NA) Yes, there are people who legitimately believe that anything other than shouting in zone or a unified AH where even worse price manipulation can happen is EVIL.
Whenever I tell people in zone to just use guild finder to find a trade guild, or to apply for one I’m in, it’s rare for anyone to actually DO THAT. 9 times out of 10 the response is “ guild finder is too hard to use” or “don’t want to wait for approval.” In guilds where I help manage applications, even asking for ANYTHING in the “tell us about yourself” field is too much for 50% of applicants.
Short answer: there is no legit reason not to be in a trade guild. And console players: visit a few traders in the major cities. Do a quick survey of the items you want to sell. List at said price. It takes time but you shouldn’t need to adjust your pricing more than once a week. If you stick to selling gold mats this is usually a fairly quick process. And watch what people are advertising in zone chat. I did this to set my prices for all of year 1, before I joined a guild and learned about addons.
Oh and btw you can turn chat off in game...check your settings

I would not go so far as to say there is no "legit" reason. Any reason that someone can come up with will be considered "legit", even if there is only one person on the planet that thinks that.
Joining a trading guild, either a part time guild or a full time guild, is the answer. Whether people choose to accept that answer is up to them.
When I want one, I have never had a problem finding a guild that has a trader, even if occasionally. If I get kicked, which has never happened, I will just move on to another one.
