Why don't new Banker and Merchant crow fly in house?

I bought the new crow banker hoping I could let it fly around in my house, but unfortunately, the crow only walks around. I don't find this logical as the crow does fly when you call him outside of a house and flying seems much more normal behavior for a crow. I wish they would change this, but it probably won't be changed.

Does it come with the person or is that just for the showcase?

What if you set a path and increase the speed to sprinting? Would it fly then?
    Hoping for more playable races

My guess is that if they flew people would complain they can't interact with them properly.

Flight for a lot of animals takes a lot of energy. Most of the pets and stuff capable of flight don't actually do it constantly, they might glide when your character runs to keep up, but for the most part they walk/slither around. It's the same when you use them in houses; Sep and Reef Adders don't fly, the chickens don't fly, the Dragonfrogs don't fly, the Gryphons don't fly, and so on. They glide if their pathing speed is set to Sprint, but they don't actually fly.

All that being said, it's probably one reason the crow assistants don't constantly fly. The only things that do are insects/bats, because even the Dragon Imps land from time to time. Plus, as someone else said, it would likely make it hard to interact with them if they were flying around.

Yeah, and imagine those poor things are flying with the whole bank on their back! Dramatic...

I'm actually more likely to get them now I know this - after seeing them flying in the preview I thought they'd be awkward to use in my house without setting them on a path, and I prefer assistants to be stationary so I know where they are when I need them!

There actually isn't any difference between all the speeds on this assistant.

    ???

I have both of my crow assistants set on paths in my house and the speed differences are quite noticeable.

Sprint speed does make them fly from point a to point b, Run and Jog are fast and slightly less fast bird hopping, and Walk is normal bird walking. I made use of all of them setting them explore around and perch in various areas for talking with.

I personally am extremely pleased with their animations as well as the fact that they are not always flying in my house. In fact, I wish they would occasionally land and rest or walk when out in the game world in general since the constant hovering is a bit unrealistic, even for Daedric crows.

(Real life corvids in my area seem to spend a lot more time walking around on the ground searching for food, hopping onto poles and branches to check stuff out, and perching on top of trees than outright flying.)

Weird. I tried all settings, but didn't see any difference., I am on PS5 using the enchanted edition. And you @Galen ?

If you raise the path nodes higher up (slightly higher than where you want them fying), and set speed to sprint, they'll fly. At least that's how it worked for me.(Ps4)

I'm on Xbox Series X enhanced edition.

Oh, something to try is adjusting the path settings to not conform to ground. I did that for both of mine since they travel vertically up and down quite a bit with my paths for them. (But they did still fly for me even with that setting left on, just more at ground level instead of up in the air.)

I did retest it again and indeed, if I put the nodes a bit higher and set it to sprint (not any of the others), he flies. But that is way to fast for a visitor in my house to activate him. so, I just keep it at the slow walk at the top level of my house (I also have the original banker located at the entrance to my house).

I have two points in my banker's rounds where he'll post on top of something for three minutes. Hope that helps.

Does it come with the person or is that just for the showcase?

    @phaneub17_ESO

It doesn't come with the person but when you summon it, it is flying and when you talk to it, it lands on your characters arm (like in the preview).
