What you quoted is what the active part of the ability does. You will see an eye over your character’s head when you activate it, signifying the reveal buff.
The revealing of daedric and undead enemies while the skill is slotted is related to the nature of the Fighters Guild as the hunters of daedra, undead, and werewolves. I suppose the idea is that if members of the FG are going after certain enemies specifically, they should be able to identify those enemies more easily. On a more practical note, since FG abilities do 20% more damage against those enemies with the Skilled Tracker passive, it’s a way of indicating when you’ll get the bonus too.
ETA: Before the recent change, Banish the Wicked also gave ultimate for killing those specific enemies too.
