Seriously, Mirri? Here’s hoping Bastion is a better fit.

Firstly, companions are meant to have somewhat of a personality, with all their associated likes and dislikes; just like real people. I'd rather that than a no-personality housecarl

Not sure what is wrong with some people Mirri, but mine is good

She's pleasant when summoned "Mum and Dad say Hi" or something similar (maybe I don't concentrate on any negatives said?)

Sometimes she'll praise me during thieving ("Well done Master thief") and is even a smarty-pants about it ("You'll take anything that isn't tied down")

Only complaint she has is she'll sometimes say, "I'm fine, thanks for asking" in a sarcastic tone that isn't really contextual

Other than that, she's great. Sometimes she'll even shout out tips during combat if she believes I'm making a mistake or that I should drink a potion

Oh yeah, if I'm feeling murderous, she gets unsummoned till no-one lives, then she gets re-summoned. Super easy via the quickmenu and something maybe you need to do, "oh releaser of dragons" (read: BejaProphet) when you go on a bug-hunting frenzy

Companions a great start, especially for newer players. I believe they can only get better over time
    I'm just a man

I don't get nagged at for killing small animals?

I do - but it's only a comment and not a loss of rapport.

Just what I want in my gaming experience. A nagging woman who complains every time I grab a bug. What a nightmare!

I immediately went with Bastian after that

Bastian is fine, just don't steal infront of him. He doesn't like when you kill non-hostile animals as he believes life shouldn't be just wasted like that, but you don't lose rapport with him when you do it.

Personally I like how much he cares about the player character, feels like a real friend, sometimes after battle he'll ask "are you hurt".

He's fine though when I kill bunnies and snakes...

It was the Firsthold Fruit and Cheese plate. Bastian has a problem with cheese (!)

If you pickpocket and thieve a lot Bastian won't be any better. Otherwise yeah, if you like to grab bugs often Bastian will probably be a better fit for you.

At least there is a type of logic behind these. Bastian doesn't like stealing. Mirri doesn't like killing bugs.

It's the weird ones, like Bastian getting angry at you if you make tea, that really baffle the mind.

It seems like he only has a problem with cheese if you make it in large quantities...1 Port Hunding Cheese Fries was fine but 20 at once was not. I haven't tested other dishes yet, maybe his issue is with gluttony for all I know. He was fine with Clear-Eye Whiskey, Surilie Syrah Wine, and Bitter Tea, but I didn't try making 20 at a time of those either. Testing continues!

I am not finding any rapport decreases for crafting alcohol or tea on Bastian. Can someone list the exact beverage provisioning recipes you are getting negative rapport for crafting? I also am not getting negative rapport for killing rats on Bastian (or any other similar passive-type creature). If someone is able to get a rapport decrease (not just vocalizations of dismay) for killing any passive creature on Bastian, could you tell me what type of creature and the location where you killed it?

I will add to the list accordingly.

I specifically crafted Muthsera's Remorse and lost rapport.

I may be wrong - it might've been the Firsthold Fruit & Cheese plate since I think those are paired in the crafting writ...
I thought the same thing too when I first crafted Muthsera's Remorse. After crafting the fruit and cheese and then the remorse, the negative rapport just remained there on the bottom right of the screen and I was like... waiiiiiit a second.... :relaxed:

So, I just crafted one Port Hunding Cheese (which is 4 due to provisioning passives) and I picked up -1 rapport with Bastian. Great find. I think we can officially conclude that Bastian definitely takes issue with cheese at this point. How ... mysterious.

    I see...

So it's cheese and not the tea? lol

Perhaps his father tried to kill Emeric with poisoned cheese. So the mere sight of it brings causes childhood trauma to resurface.

I gave Bastion a try but I didn't much like the isometric viewpoint for that style of gameplay. Not a great fit for me. I did like Hades, though. Awesome game.

Right after I killed a Deadlands Scorpion. No loss of rapport, though. :D

I actually find it rather endearing that they both have their little quirks, like being afraid of snakes, or of water/boats (Maybe she had a near-drowning accident as a child.) It makes them seem slightly more alive, more three dimensional. I just don't see why our actions have to lower our rapport with them. I don't see the point to that.

At start it was fine, but they're just a broken record repeating same dialog. It is like having the "Can you believe it, DRAGONS, IN YOUR OWN HOMELAND" npc stuck on you wherever you go in Tamriel.

And that's exactly why these companion NPCs need to the highest quality writing and voice acting the game has to offer, because the more lines of unique dialogue they have the longer we can go without repetition, meaning they won't annoy us as fast.

I don’t know. The two most annoying things are when fighting.

Mirri apparently thinks I need to dodge!
    And
Bastion apparently thinks I need to get out of there!

It isn’t near constant or anything, but It is going to drive me crazy after awhile.

And Bastion hates cheese? Maybe he is lactose intolerant?

some people get sick after eating cheese (or milk in gerneral, but i dont think there is milk in eso crafting)
and have to fart a lot.
maybe bastian just forgot to mention he is affected by this.
