Like those deaths that frustrate you because it's to let's say stupid for lack of better term.

Any persistent ground circles tend to end my companions. They can block heavy attacks and dodge key abilities, but they don't seem to care if they're standing in stupid.

That sounds exactly like my experience with dragons

I put in Echoing Vigor and have Mirri use heavy armor and melee weapons so she's always close. She doesn't die all that much anymore. But I guess Dragons would still kill her. Does fine in normal dungeons.

Dragons. Mirri dies with 60-sec of engaging with a dragon, every time. With Bastian I can recall him out of the red, but Mirri defiantly stands and dies.

Ground effects. I tried that trap boss group event in one of the new public dungeons and it was more of a challenge keeping my follower alive than actually killing the boss. Also in that world event Oblivion Portal that end boss has a 1 shot to any melee follower. Followers run straight to stupid and insta-die.

Some need to make the butterfly meme with mirri seeing the butterfly and saying "is this red circle where I should stand, sera?" And then she gets angry when you pluck the butterfly wings.

Seriously only ground aoe kills her.

Only one death, so far. Happened to be at the end of the Blackwood prologue quest when Dagon's pet burped. I barely survived myself. Breath mint, dude. Breath mint.

Mirri with bow, medium armour and ghostly evasion equipped hardly ever dies unless it’s the dragons.

Bastian is suicidal. Likes to walk around in the red circles.

Mirri has only died once to a WB when she was in white mismatched gear. I have her in matching healer gear now and she has not died since. I am pleased with my new companion. <3

Mirri is setup for pain, she's gonna die no matter what. Bastian rarely draws any aggro and has so many defensives he hardly dies.

Tanking Elsweyr dragons last night I noticed my Bastian seemed to bug out constantly and stop fighting, even though I was actively attacking and taunting the dragons face. So he'd walk over and stand next to me and get blasted by fus ro da or breath attacks.

I just left him lying there.

Bastian hasn't died on me yet, he's level 10 but I haven't found any armour for him yet. Found some weapons that I'll give him once he has finished levelling his flame staff.

So far we have done a bunch of Clockwork City quests and some dungeons - normal FG1, Spindle 2, Arx, BC1 and VoM. I feel like a proud parent at the end of the dungeons :)

They "stand in red" just like any enemy NPC and I am not sure if ESO will ever code them to "run from the red" or not.

    I think they probably won't.

That's probably fair. It might do more harm than good. However, perhaps they could add some extra mitigation against red circles that is companion specific. Maybe not complete immunity, but if it's the main reason they are dying and those deaths are more than ZOS intends, they might consider a % based reduction from all ground circles for companions or perhaps a flat reduction that would make them much more survivable in lesser circles, but big damage would still be deadly as it is to players.

Yeah dragons definitely seems like a no go for companions. A lot of things seem wrong during dragon fights with them.

I actually have no idea. I pay no attention to my companions whatsoever. I figure they're going to be a helpful extra weapon in battle, and the might help heal me. Other than that, meh. They resurrect right away when they die, so they're more helpful than not.

Are they supposed to resurrect right away when they die? Because my Bastian doesn't resurrect until the fight is over.

That is correct. Unless you resurrect them with a soul gem, they will stay down until the combat is concluded.

Mirri tells you she prefers to attack from range with her bow. So I let her. And while she's only level 10 for me and I have given her zero gear so far, she hasn't died once. And that includes plenty of dolmens, dragons and world (sorry ZOS... group) bosses. She's yet to try a harrowstorm, though, and I imagine she will become shrike bait in no time at all.

I was watching one of mine at the time he got killed, and he jumped back up. Maybe he was merely knocked down and stunned.

Like those deaths that frustrate you because it's to let's say stupid for lack of better term.

I am enjoying companions more than I thought I would, but a few things do chafe:

    1. Mirri (Don't have Bastian yet) gets too close to mobs or lets them run over her.

What I would LOVE to see Zeni add is a 'Combat Behaviour' or role setting with options like:
    Melee
    Ranged
    Defensive
    Aggressive
    Healer

    Things like that.
RN I have Mirri configured as an archer, good bow and skills, medium armour. She said that's what she trained in and loves her bow so ok.
But what sets my teeth on edge is during say, a dragon battle, is seeing her run RIGHT up behind it and start shooting it in the butt :s
For all that's worth I may as well respec her as a tank and let her run right up on mobs.

So having a ranged behaviour setting would be nice so she lived longer than 10 seconds.

    2. Her uncanny ability to run right between me and the thing I'm trying to activate right at the last second, "Problem sera?"
    Yes sweetie, there is...

    3. This is a minor RP thing for me and not likely to be implemented but it would have been nice if we could actually follow-up on some of her statements. Like getting to a town\city and she talks about being hungry, wanting to try some of the local fare.
It would be cool if we could actually DO THAT. Go buy her a meal and some drinks, maybe even gain another pixel on the rapport bar.

    4. She seems to unsummon herself or just disappear, usually during a transition into a city or FT. Doesn't happen very often. Don't think it's a bad rapport issue as its almost 75% to the good. It's not that I summoned a banker or anything either. IDK, it's weird. But doesn't happen often so minor really.

EDIT: Sry OP, after typing I realized you were talking about deaths, so 2-4 are a bit OT :#
