Fastest way to farm Companion gear?

You can do a 4 man dungeon like FG1 solo. All the bosses can drop loot and there is no cool down timer like for WB or public dungeons.

Do we know how long the timer is? You mean a full group of 2 players with 2 companions or can companion gear drop without the companions active in dungeons?

I farmed public dungeon bosses for somewhere around three hours today. I got a single green Companion Ring.
The funny thing is that I was happy to get it. LOL. The prices for the jewelry are still high on guild traders.

*EDIT* Oh, and they fixed that bug where companions were losing their gear/armor with the last mini-patch.
*EDIT again* By the way, I think I was just unlucky for those three hours, because I farmed again later and my drop rate was a bit better than that.

Fastest is dolmens in Alikr desert. I was doing it for the purpose of levelling my companion, but I noticed gear drops are noticeable. I haven't seen any purple yet, mostly green. It's also the fastest way to boost your companion's XP, so 2 in 1.

    Did two tests yesterday:

    1. Run NORMAL Dungeon (I did two different ones) solo with a companion.
    Result: 0 companion parts

    2. Run VETERAN Dungeon (VoM) solo with a companion.
    Result: 2 BLUE companion parts

Suggestion: If you can solo Non-DLC-Veteran dungeons,
get a buddy to have 2 players and run the NON-DLC-Dailies on Veteran
with your 2 companions (2+2) to get BLUE companion gear.

the colour does not really matter.

1 piece light white armor: 600 protection
1 piece heavy white armor: 2600
    1 piece heavy blue: 2800

So you get protection by using heavy armor, not by getting blue armor.
A piece white heavy costs 500 gold, very cheap.

The colours mainly just give benefit adding traits, but even that is not much, like 1.2% more crit chance.

I actually sell all coloured armour I found, just kept a blue bow.
Mirri survived a worldboss that killed me like this.

One other option to avoid that they die: keep them moving.
Mirri has 2 skills for that, 1 to slash enemies jumping on them, 1 to dodge and move back.
Using both reduces the danger that they keep standing in red circles.

I switches to melee weapons and heavy armor on Mirri. Slotted Echoing Vigor and see survives quite well in normal dungeons.

I don't know why every build I saw for companions have 7 elements with same weight. I think that better approach for survability sake is 2 heavy + 5 any weight you want, but maybe I don't see something...

And about rarity - yeah, it's really low drop rate, but there is not very big difference between green and purple equipment, so best strategy is to buy greenies which are quite cheap and patient upgrading. Also with time blue equipment will be cheaper, so in couple months everyone probably should have a chance to buy full blue set without spending tons of gold.

Positive side is that we have new possibility to make money by just playing game. If you lucky, you will get purple you don't want and you can sell it for a lot of gold. It's better than just tons of useless junk that you must sell/destroy every now and then.

I agree... but it is definitely RNG. I spent 1/hr leveling a new character at a dolmen and first hour I received about seven pieces of Companion gear... next 1/hr I received ONE piece of Companion gear... next 1/hr I received six pieces. It was about equal between green and blues.

Just doing normal delves or public dungeons I got two blue pieces of armor for my companion yesterday. One piece of jewelry and a sash. It's totally random and it's all across zones. I have had green pieces drop and white. No purple gear yet.

From the 66 items I have 39 are green, 23 are blue, 4 are purple,
    Almost all from Public Dungeons.
With grinding bosses, mob packs along thye way, repairing armor: per 1 hour gross time approx 2-3 drops.

I've gotten 3 pieces of blue gear simply from doing quests in Blackwood. I don't get this race to get companion gear stuff.. they're still gonna be bad at everything so enjoy them for what they are.

Furnishing plans by far. I've got TONS of companion gear, it really isn't that rare. Public Dungeons are the best because you can kill the most stuff the fasted and both my purple weapons (resto staff and bow) I've got from trash, not bosses. Not one furnishing plan yet.

My best drops so far have come from dolmens. I know it's random RNG, but dolmens seem to give me the best companion gear so far.

Companions have to be out in order to get gear. Dungeons like FG1 can be done with just a companion and you. The loot timer for WB's and Public Dungeon bosses is 5 minutes. There is no loot timer for bosses inside of 4 man dungeons.

Fastest way? Buy Blackwood CE maps from guild stores and do them with a companion out. The maps are sellable and always contains a companion gear.

I noticed that yesterday. Disappointed only got a green restoration staff. To RNG God, Mirri truly deserved a ring.

Adding on to this, ran 3 normals and 3 vets with a pal, and we each got about 6-7 pieces for those runs, one purple, five blues, and the rest green. It seems to be the best way to go - the purple dropped in a normal dungeon, but we seemed to get more blues in vet.

One was a daily, the others were ones we just walked in to. The purple dropped off a non-daily (VOM to be precise).

They definitely need to make companion gear craftable, upgradable, etc. I am honestly not even fussed with it at the moment. Certainly not going to go out of my way or pay outrageous sums of money to upgrade a companion that is little more than an RP device. I only see myself using companions while questing, etc, and the reality is, that type of combat is so easy that combat from my companions is not needed, and if anything, just prolongs the fight as they mess with my stacks and pulls. If I did find something purple, I would immediately sell it.

My guess is that this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of companion gear. I see a whole new line of companion crafting, trait research, new sets, etc, and that purple item going for 7 figures will probably be obsolete when that happens in a patch or two.

My companion siri is in all white gear, light armor, chest and resto are green. I have her built as a healer, she seems to stay alive. I soloed the first round of BRP and Skyreach to see how she leveled and handled herself, only died once in several big pulls. I cant imagine I would notice much if she were in purple gear.

There is none... it's completely random... can acquire from ANY enemy but a bigger chance with bosses.

Umm, I think you just contradicted yourself. Do bosses have higher chance or not? If so, then boss and public dungeon farming would beat somewhere like Spellscar.

Just want to pitch in. I started running normal City of Ash 1 a few days ago with Mirri as a companion and I've been getting consistent drops from the bosses. Not always the same bosses, but I always end up with 2-3 companion gear after a run.

I even got a purple 2h battleaxe from Golor the Banekin Handler. In comparison, I also run Arx Corinium on normal regularly and usually get 1 or no companion pieces at all.

Might just be a case of RNG.

Eh, I just completed the story arc, did enough fighters guild dailies to get Mirri's rapport up high enough to invite her to be a permanent resident of my vampire castle, then logged out in my coffin.

SWTOR's companion system is much better, and knowing how long it takes ZOS to change things as a direct result of player feedback, should give me plenty of time to revisit that universe and catch up on the last three expansions.
Then, once things change for better quality of life here, I'll come back and finish fleshing them out.

With ZOS, it's only a matter of time. I can wait. 🙃

I don't feel like getting companion gear is that hard. Yesterday in normal City of Ash 1 with Bastian I got two blue ones, a bow and a ring. I don't actively farm for gear either, so far I've almost always got something while fighting WB or normal dungeon bosses.

So far the most regular drops for me have been from Dolmens and Harrowstorms.

Going back to farming items 'right weight, right trait, right slot' with an added 'right quality' as a cherry on top does not feel great though.

At least it is 'Companion Gear' rather than 'Companion Specific Gear' (as in separate and non-interchangeable sets per companion); I guess I will have to call that a 'silver lining'.

Farming dolmens is definitely RNG... in an hour, sometimes I've gotten five or six pieces.... another hour I might get just ONE. It may be that we get more of a chance for Companion drops from Molag Bal's "Generals" than we do from regular final dolmen bosses???

    Any know what it is?
Fastest way to acquire gear is to buy it from other players, via zone chat or traders.

yea i bet its like 100k+ or millions cause its so rare for me it would take ages cause i am not farm nerd i play for fun its good if i farm enough to find gear for myself, THS some big BS :( and i don't mean what u said but how hard it is to get it

just make it so we can equip player gear for comps

so yea i take huge issue with that, huge complaint about that
