OP please tell me you're joking about the "respect" one. You're saying people who won't sell you stuff for less than the average don't have respect, while you yourself aren't respecting that stuff costs more now, and aren't respecting the time of the people who farm that stuff to begin with?

Peoples' time is worth just as much as your in-game gold. If you don't want to pay the current price for stuff, farm it yourself. While pricing stuff at a cost you're willing to pay isn't bannable or really even reportable, it does kind of make you a bit of a jerk if you're acting like respect is a one-way street in your favor.

@xv1_me please give us an example and clarify what is actually happening.
“WTB freight wax x8 for 100k pst”
(Little do they know my prices are very close to guild store prices minus the guild fee)

So, you buy it for 12.5k/ea, flip it at 14k/ea, and you make a 4k profit on a stack. Not a crime, yes.
Another example is when I say (once in a while)
“Attention everyone, I am currently honoring a time when eso trading was at its best, please cod me freight wax at the price it used to be, 5k/ea” if you wish to show your respect!”

Now this is a blatant rip off.

Actually, if I sell for 14k the trader takes out a fee so it turns into 12.8 after taxes.

Also, is it really a rip off if I’m like half serious with the humorous ads?

The only assumption I made is that you've been suspended twice already. That was based on you bragging that you're on a final warning.

Look you obviously enjoy the attention, all power to you. But making a topic here bragging about how much hate mail you get is kinda silly.

My 10-day MM avg for aetherial dust (and I belong to a few top-tier trading guilds, so these numbers aren't based off of like, 2 sales in 29 days) is roughly 380k, which makes sense given that the mythic pots have a 10-day average of roughly 110k per. 380K plus cost of knowledge of the (VERY expensive) recipe, plus cost of max prov with passives to make four pots each time, equals 440k in pots. That's fair enough.

I CONSTANTLY see someone (not xv1_me) going zone to zone buying aetherial dust for 250k. As of this writing, I see only TWO dust listings under 310k, one of which was some poor sap in Auridon who listed at 400g because they obviously didn't realize what they had.

So I can't speak to xv1_me's situation, but I can definitely speak about people going around zone trying to buy gold mats for way less than market prices - prices that ONLY serve to rip off the people who don't know what their mats are worth.

And before anyone says "well some people sell at that price because they don't have a trader or just want quick gold" - ok, then let me know who they are, and I'll direct them to any number of people who would pay *380k* for dust so they don't get ripped off. That's a bullcrap excuse for crappy behaviour and everyone knows it.

If someone who is a legit flipper with reasonable expectations, I usually let it ride.

If someone spams zone chat with insanely low prices (like half of the value) I will throw the TTC pricing in chat to protect the new players and the unaware.

You have the right to throw the ad out there and I have the right to counter it with data. Personally I would never threaten to report or even whisper the person, but that's because I'm not a little ***.

The other thing at play is a lot of players just don't like to see WTB spam. And if they leave one zone where a person is offering lowball values for items, and then immediately see that person also in the zone again because they just tour around all zones, some amount of annoyance on their part can trigger reporting.

Not that it's really a scam in that instance, but a variety of things leading to some people in the zone not liking the poster.

One time I saw a person offering below average prices, but they added a disclaimer like "You may be able to sell these for more at guild traders" and got almost no (public) flack at all.

Yes, it's a common occurrence. But getting any threats for doing it very much isn't.

If it's really happening "on a daily basis", there obviously must be something else going on here that xv1_me isn't telling us.

I agree with you in principle. There is no reason to ban people for speech when all the offended party has to do is put the offender on ignore and problem solved. But that's the age we live in, where "banning" people is seen as the answer to everything. I hope it's a trend on its way out.

You all are forgetting a very important fact:

A lot of people don’t have guild traders in mournhold and the fair offers from zone are their way of getting gold. I’ve met a lot of people that were so grateful I made them rich. They told many more than one occasion “thank you now I don’t have to list it in a guild trader”

Also a lot of people just stock pile mats and buy gold with crowns. It is their choice (they have told me) to sell at the price agreed. Which a lot of times is even lower than I offer.

Someone sent me two free potent nirn because I made him rich. There are actually some nice and laid back ppl in this game <3

    Greetings.

I've been with ESO since shortly after release and have noticed how the game community has changed over time. Perhaps the biggest change came between ESO no longer requiring a paid subscription to play and the One Tamriel Game Update.

So when this game was under sub, I noticed the community in general was more pleasant to co-exist with, as typically zone conversations were much much more Civil and if you put in the time and resources to learn the game, proved yourself as someone useful or knowledgeable there was this sort of feeling like 'respect' in the air it seemed. During this time, Guilds were a little more professional, as many of the name brand Guilds was getting their start. Gold Currency was worth more and in general everything just seemed better.

Fast forward to Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Imperial City DLC(s). Everything began to change. Fierce competition arose for things like safe-boxes, tel var chests, tel vars themselves, so on and so forth. More sources of wealth seemed to bring out the worse in players. New players who bought the game yet did not invest in a sub, didn't care about the game, thus they didn't care about their behavior. And so on and so forth until this moment, today. Today it is very different and people who play are different.

    Thus, my solution is this:

#1 - Shut off Zone Chat, uncheck all boxes except for Group and Private Message.
#2 - Only network with traditional, reputable Guilds and only contribute any resource to them once you know the Guild Master / Officers and are comfortable with them
#3 - When in PvP, again, turn off Zone Chat and its up to your whether or not you wish to go into 'offline mode'.

Taking these precautions has gone a long way in preventing issues between other toxic players and myself as well as enabled me have better overall relations with my core Guilds.

That said, due to the toxicity, childishness, bias and overall hatefulness from some players, I have had to also re-assess my participation not just with Guilds but with Alliances as well.

The saddest part of all, I believe, is how we have such a great game, with beautiful characters and lands to visit, unique experience making Elder Scrolls seem more alive as well as personable, along with the 'privilege' that everyone has now to participate freely (other than just buying the game) and some people have to ruin it for everyone else over greed and their own personal bias. They can work endlessly to fix the game's issues however they can't fix the problems of some of the people who play it.

But that is not scamming or bannable. There must be more to the story.

Not necessarily. People threaten to report other people for non-reportable stuff all the time in this game. If making a false or time-wasting report against someone were treated in the game as it is by law enforcement departments in the real world, it would put a stop to all of the false reporting pretty quickly.

I think some people think that's a way of haggling. I encountered that sometimes back in the days when I played other games without a central trading system or pricing addons. I'd ask to buy something and get private messages accusing me of trying to scam new or ignorant players by offering far less than it's worth and telling me they'd report me if I didn't stop. A minute or so later there would be a follow up offering to do me a favour and not report it if I proved it was an "honest mistake" by buying the item from them for 2x or 3x what I offered (way above market value).

Unfortunately for them I knew not only what the item was worth (I'd always do my research first) but also that you couldn't get in trouble for offering a lower price in any of these games, so I'd just refuse and tell them to go ahead and report me if they wanted to. Most of the time they'd drop the act and resort to conventional haggling. Sometimes they'd just ignore me, but nothing worse than that.
