But from experience and this thread, it bumps the effective level of the chest. Simple have a higher chance of dropping a set item, intermediate has it guaranteed, advanced and master are purple quality with a chance of 2x set item.

I remember also reading this is watered down version of the old treasure hunter passive, as people were frustrated to see Mirri's companion passive also relates to treasure chest loot, thus "fixing" an artificially created disparity between the new and old cp system with money and grinding. This is just what I read in the pts forums, and I'm sure someone here has actual treasure chest drop data comparing the new and old cps.

Give that thread a read if you're still unsure about it, but I hope that helps.

Edit: oh, and as for color, not just set pieces, I've notices a fair few blue quality items in simple chests. Again, might double check if it's still slotted for you

That's how it worked before. Without treasure hunter active, simple chests should basically never have a set item in them. With treasure hunter it should be about 50/50 for simple chests to have a set item in them. Treasure hunter has never guaranteed a set item from simple chests.

Did you "confirm" after slotting Treasure Hunter? You can have whatever you want as your CP slottables, but until you choose the confirm option, they are not active.

So the CP should give more set items? I was under the impression the quality as in green, blue, purple was the increase? In that case it is working I've noticed more set items.
