I'm sorry but I fail to see how having only one character is any more hardcore than having many. Just sounds dreadfully dull with a complete lack of any variety.

and the many who would love it are probably not enough for it to be economically feasible. I noticed that there are not even servers geographically located for OCE/SEA players which says a lot about the possibility for hardcore servers.

Not to mention further fragmenting the player base....

And my guess is few would swap even if they were interested. I have found the more people enjoy playing with those they hang with the more they play the game. Granted, this does not speak to everyone but it probably speaks to more of the masses than those interested in a hardcore server.

But I digress. There is nothing wrong with asking for something. I have seen game developers take notice of ideas they feel will work well with the game and implement them.

Niche servers don't work very well. On start, they might be populated, but interest quickly falls leaving an empty server.

And each of the "mega servers" is more than likely a fair number of physical servers that are logically clustered.

If this is such a burning desire of yours, why don't you go and contact ZOS directly? Talk to them? Write to the developers! Meet them in the streams and twitch events and let them know your concern and ideas.

Better yet: work up a whole business idea for them so that they can see it's feasible. Do research. Ask for surveys. Quote other games that offer this and how it affects the player population. Do a whole work-up for them and then pass it on to them.

I would think that that would be a lot more effective than starting the 72384th thread on the same subject - and getting the same (negative) answers each time... >.>

Noone will invest into full server just for niche game mode which will be half empty (so boring) and will just split game community.

Why not one step farther? Your character dies, the game erases itself from your hard drive and you have to download it again.

Let's go even farther - your characters dies, then assassins came to your house and kill you in real life. Do you feel the excitment, when your characters dies because of lag?

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say here...

But really, go ahead and really sit down and do a market analysis. Look at other games that offer hardmode. Do research - the articles, the discussions, even the player numbers are out there. It will take time, but if you can put together a really convincing dossier and then show it to ZOS, they might be more interested in what you have to say.

You keep using generalities: some, all, many... A business isn't interested in generalities - they want to see numbers. They want to know how many players are going to be interested in this. 25k? 328k? 1,5 million? Would they be willing to pay more for this? If yes, how much? What would the mechanics look like? The loot? Would there be other bonuses for playing on a hardcore server? If yes, which?

And so on... A business like ZOS isn't interested in 'ooohhh... I'm bored, I want this...'. They're interested in cold, hard facts and in equally cold, hard numbers. Give them that, and they might listen.

It's actually time to end the mega-server thing and break the servers into SMALLER servers.

Nope -- mega-servers must GO because they are NOT working. There should be Time-Zone-specific servers and maybe Role-Playing Preferred, No-RPing, whatever.

Never mentioned how overland content would be more of a challenge.

I'm down for more challenging content though. Not like retardis challenging like most devs think "auto attack hit harder derr! more health, derr!" Rather more along the lines of having faster, more lethal telegraphs, redesigned AI; have them act more more aggressive, throwing down aoe towards the appropriate amount of players stacking it, targeting healers, charging through stacked players.

My only gripe with this game is the dumb AI and how slow their animations are. Improving them alone would be a yuuge step in the right direction.

I think they are merely saying that if it is something you really want it will likely take some convincing, that a forum poll that is basically suggesting few want this is probably not going to be the most effecting course of action. As I noted earlier, I think, that there is not a Oceanic/AUS server for some reason and that meant this idea would probably take some convincing that it would be a wise business decision.

everyone here including me asking you question, how is this viable?, and what makes it different than the current server now ?, and what makes it hardcore ?, and what if people enter 3 months after the server release and they start from 0, power balance will be out again and its no different from current server, and what to do at that point ?

i also point out another solution that more viable, but never get a reply lol

Yes, I have seen your proposal. But I don't think debuff thing will work. It just remind me the highest lvl of difficulty in Baldur's Gate where setting was set up so high that you need 30 minutes and hundreds of fireballs to kill a rat. That was not funny.

Higher difficulty imho should rely on more mechanics, so whenever you choosing to make fight harder, you are adding some move that enemy can make and you need to counter them.

But still, how would you solve a case when you have open world in which sure, you can initiate fight with any boss you want on any level of difficulty you want but at any point some random dude can join? Or bettter - set yourself a max difficulty and goes for grinding with your homies with minimal difficulty. There is no incentive in that.

That is why a smaller server with slightly more difficult content is imho the only solution we have. Well, maybe except hardmode for some solo content (like this in main mission).

The single char solution serve slightly different aim: to reduce minmaxing & xp/tc grinding, so players would need to carefully think about their builds in order to complete all content game has to offer.

See, that's where we're different.

I didn't make a *claim* , I made a *suggestion*.

If there is something that you really, really want, then I expect you to go out and do the work. If you want to get a company to change its policies, then you have to go out and show the company *why* it would be a monetary advantage to them to do so. Yes, that involves putting in a lot of work. To actually get yourself informed and to do research and to put together a proposal.

Since so far all I have seen is you complaining here on the forum, I am going to assume that you're not *really* interested in having something in the game changed. If you were, you would be putting in the work.

It's like sitting in the bathtub and complaining that you're wet. You *could* get up and get out, dry yourself off and drain the tub. Or you could call a plumber, who will take care of the blocked pipes for you. Or you could do some research and find out how to unblock the pipes yourself.

Instead, you keep sitting in the full tub, complaining that it's still full and you're still wet and it's getting cold and uncomfortable.

Not some reddit or facebook group, not a cottage in the middle of nowhere, but the forum dedicated this particular game, to see if they are and if yes then how many people are interested in such solution.

However, if you would make a study about this game based only on the content of posts & comments, then it is amazing that anyone play this game. No class balance, no interesting new content and one we have is weak and unchallenging, pvp is cripple and laggy, not enough furnishing slots, no communications, and so on...

However, the people who post here are usually only a small part of the very large player base. So an opinion or request posted here is always a personal one, not one that reflects the 18 million players that currently have an ESO account.

If you're going to implement such a radical change in the game, you *have* to have feedback from a greater customer base than the few hundred or thousand that post here. -> Market research

No. Read what I wrote. You need to do a *market* research. That consists of a great deal more than just reading a few comments and posts.

I have six characters, but really only play one of them as my Main anyway so being stuck with just a single character wouldn't be such a pain to me.

I was going to immediately oppose you if you mentioned any kind of open world PvP where if you die you lose everything. That's just not kosher. Or fun. At all.

See... that's your problem: *I* don't have a problem with the game as it is. I'm actually quite happy with it (except for the housing item limit... ok... I confess, I hate that...). I don't need a hardcore server. I don't want harder overland. I don't need or want mythic strength quest mobs or story bosses. I am perfectly happy with the way the game is structured at the moment. I am playing ESO *exactly* the way I want to.
The only beef I have is with some of the housing aspects, but that's more along the lines of 'would be nice to have, but I can deal with it'.

So I *am* getting annoyed at seeing the same whiny thread over and over again. Posting the same thread here will *not* change the way the game is structured. It will *not* influence the devs and it will *not* change ZOS's business plan.

What *might* change the company's mind is if you can show them that the desired change will make them money. *That* requires work and effort, research and a comprehensive understanding of how the industry works.

Which is why I suggested to you that this might be the better path to take rather than whining here on the forums every three days. Unfortunately, you prefer to keep on whining like a petulant child that's not getting the lollipop that it wants, instead of investing some time and effort into making your wishes into an attractive proposal to ZOS.

I'm getting the feeling that you don't *really* want a discussion. What you seem to want to hear is 'yeah, we all want this, aren't you wonderful for posting this?'
Instead, what you keep getting is 'no, we don't really want this, because...'. It annoys you to no end, so you keep on inflicting your selfsame posts onto this forum in the hope that if only you post *often* enough, people will start to agree with you. It's not going to happen.
