That shows what your one account is linked to. My account for example is linked to Twitch for when I was getting drops. It doesn't link two game accounts.

Follow the thread. My comment is directly in response to the claim that account names would be too difficult to cross-reference during a transfer. In fact, they can already tell which console accounts should link with which PC accounts, just like they can tell which Twitch/etc accounts can link to both console AND PC accounts. It's a non-issue people use to pretend that ZoS can't possibly figure out a way around an insurmountable waist-high fence in their programming.

"I've been here for years, and lemme tell you all about how they should never change or evolve Z, because then the game would be ruined forever." - The other half of posters on this forum.

While it's true that I miss a few things from my console account, I don't want a transfer... I do still want to play with long standing friends.
But, I'll support those who do want it, for what it's worth.

They did it from pc to console. They can do it again.....

From what I read they did the transfer before the servers went live. I do not think Zos has ever transferred anyone to a live server which is not the same.

Sure, Zos may eventually decide to put this together but if players have been asking for this since consoles went live then the person you replied to probably has a good idea.

If I could do it and get a guarantee I wouldn’t lose anything, I think I would do it now. In the past I would have said no. I’d even have to buy a PC in order to do so.

The game looks and plays so much worse now than it did when Summerset came out.

The console support nowadays is less than second rate. They were able to push out a hotfix for PC for the full/empty mailboxes (which arguably is a much needed fix), but can’t fix the broken banker/trader/crafting bag bug for us for over a month.

I have to laugh when I see PC players just telling us to start over from scratch. I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot, that would not be acceptable.

If identical names is an issue I would gladly change all my characters' names to do this.

Names would not be an issue as that was solved long ago by changing the name of any transfers with conflicting names. From what I read it is just something Zenimax has chosen to not to. However, Sony and MS may be part of the season which we will never know.

Been following and my point still stands. They do not track two separate accounts as one account. Huge difference in your linking an account to Twitch for drops and two in game accounts being linked. Even more so when those accounts do not share a platform.

PC and Console Accounts aren’t linked together. Specifically console players are identified by their network game tags. “Hanokis” PS4 is distinct from “Hanokis” XBOX. Now imagine merging. Who gets to keep their ID? It’s not “tough, outta luck” for one player as that isn’t fair. The same applies to individual character names which I’m sure overlap between the consoles AND the regions.
Sure they are. Check your account hub for the section called "Linked Accounts." Mine clearly shows my direct-purchase, PTS, Steam Account, Twitch, and Gamertag.
Then also consider what is involved in the transfer. The PC to Console transfer happened when the game was much simpler. Consider the various mounts, skill lines either progressed or purchased, crown store items, housing and the placement of items within.
There's no reason beyond "follow the money" and "we can't be bothered" that they can't transfer mounts, crown purchases, unlocked dye stamps, and collected inventory/bank items (housing or otherwise).
Housing is a huge issue. You can’t just dump all the items into a players inventory, there isn’t the space or functionality. Then you would get players angry about their homes which they put days or weeks of work into being ruined. And most players have many homes. They have free ones and the ones purchased. Several notables with inventories possibly maxed in all of them.
Then don't copy decorated houses, or set up the expectation that pre-decorated homes are included. Just unlock the stock house on the map for the account as purchased/owned and let everyone include that in their do-over along with character designs/skills. But the important thing is to give us the items, so hey, what better time than to give the separate inventory for it that everyone who cares about housing has been asking for since... forever?
Transferring all of that data flawlessly without an error that could wipe an account on servers you in the forums constantly decry for not being able to handle just Cyrodiil PVP seems like you’re asking for trouble.

And what’s the reward? The vocal players here who ask get their wish for a ton of developer work and then QUIT the game because the next patch isn’t to their liking. Yeah it’s ridiculous to ask got account transfers now.
They can just have us pay for it. They get their money, we get to swap regardless of whether or not we stick with it.

You clearly ignore the very detailed and numerous technical reasons why doing this is basically impossible. Many of you point to the notion that if you throw enough money at it then it can be done but that’s a terrible argument.

There are clear costs well beyond what you’re thinking. There’s paying the developers to develop such a tool. Testing the tool and ensuring that it works 100%. If it fails and data is lost, esp data for premium paid content then the lawyers have to deal with those issues. There are the customer service headaches that would go on for years. There’s the question of if the console makers would even allow it seeing as it would cut into the revenue they derive from every microtransaction on their platform.

Arguing that “Microsoft owns them and can throw as much money as possible to get it done” is another poor contention. Just because they have the capital doesn’t mean it’s smart to just do things. Esp when the return on the investment would be a loss. And looking at the number of players who would switch (it’s far smaller than you think) it’s not worth it at all.

There is no valid reason at this point in time to develop and initiate crossplay/crosssave/account transfers with a system it’s not designed for.

The one time transfers were done it was 7 years ago, onto blank databases before they were live, and with far less information that has now accumulated 8 years of fragmentation. And switching that to work between different platforms which are similar but programmed very differently is not easy.

Yup, from technical point of view it could be done. But from legal? You have no idea what agreements they have with Sony...
