PTS access needing to upgrade to Blackwood?

I tried to log into the PTS and it is telling me I have to upgrade to the Blackwood Chapter before accessing the zone. Is this something new from the previous weeks? Is it mandatory to buy the upgrade early just to test it out? Or am I missing something?

I think it turned off for the last week because of the 2020 experience where people on Live got Greymoor without buying it, so ZOS prepared in advance.

But I can't say that my assumption is truth.

Thank you for responding. Well if that is the case and they are preparing ahead of time, I can say it works lol. I could access the PTS in all the other zones I own but I could not travel to the new zone. I also got reminders everywhere to pay for the upgrade. I do intend to get the Chapter but closer to the date of release.

If this is the case, it should have been included in the patch notes. That you must pay for the pre-purchase in order to test out the new zone. It said they 'added the Chapter' but did not indicate you must 'own the pre-purchase'. If it is there I did not see it and my apologies.

If there was to be an intended bypass of this for testing purposes, I could not find it, or it was not made clear. This could also be an unintended glitch on the PTS.

Could I get an official response please, I would greatly appreciate it @ZOS_GinaBruno

I believe the temporary solution to this is to create a template character, as it seems the chapters are somewhat character dependant. That should unlock it for your entire account.
