Console UI OLED User

I'm primarily a console player who got a new oled tv for the next gen consoles coming out this fall. I read that your game was going to offer a next gen upgrade, so I installed it during the free weekend to see if I would have fun. I did have fun, but I was concerned about the console UI (in this case on xbox one), and it is ultimately keeping me from playing your game long-term.
As an oled tv user I am worried about burn in. Thankfully, many games which I play, like Forza Horizon or Red Dead, allow me to turn off all ui elements or at the very least, make them "dynamic" in the sense they only show when important enough to show.

Your game largely allows me to do that, except for 2 items as far as I can tell. Those are the targeting reticule and the compass. Obviously, those are quite important at some times, but other times (like casually doing overland quests etc.) they are not as important. If I am just casually enjoying the fantasy overworld, I don't really want to worry about burn in on the compass or reticule even if it makes some aspects of the game more challenging. I would love an option to completely turn off the compass and the targeting reticule, and if possible maybe an additional option for dynamic targeting reticule when entering combat (but I would prefer the option to completely turn it off before the dynamic one). I plan on using my new tv for many years (not just replace it in 3) so I admit I feel uncomfortable playing games with really static UIs (yes I am aware some tvs like lg have anti burn-in measures).

Anyway, if these 2 ui updates for console play are possible it would most likely mean I stick around.

Thank you.

Have you noticed any burn in? I am assuming that It is an LG if it's OLED. That's why it's important to read reviews on TV's (LG makes the OLED screens for other manufacturers as well).I rememder OLED had burn in issues a few years ago but LG said that was supposed to be eliminated with New TV's. QLED by samsung has no burn in. My Sony 4k that is 2 years old also has no burn in. Read up on the TV you bought as it may be fine. I know I wouldn't want burn in risk to be a determining factor as to whether I would play a game or not. You can do a test for burn in. It won't be permanent and if there is burn in I would sell it and get another TV

All OLEDs can suffer from burn-in.
This is why I did not buy one for gaming.
I agree with the OP that all interface elements should be optional.

Yes burn in is exactly why I bought an LG Nanocell over an OLED much better choice for me.

I'm in the same boat but I haven't purchased a tv yet. Play a minimum of 1 hour per day, twice a week I play for about 4 hours a day.

Would I be at risk of burn in with those kind of numbers and if so what other kind of TVs would people recommend? A monitor isn't practical as I'll sitting about 4-5 feet away from it.

    Thanks in advance

Just wanted to update this thread. I have been using an lg cx48 and have had no issues so far after 6 months with any kind of burn in. I can't speak to other brands, but after doing much looking about on forums and stuff I feel like I have some general info to pass on.

The lg oled cx series seems relatively safe for use in eso.
-It is recommended to definitely use LG's screen shift and logo luminance adjustment. I have the latter setting on high, though it was unclear to me what the actual difference between high and low was. Regardless, I have it on.
-Do not keep oled light level at 100, turn it down to 70 if you can, I have mine at 60, but most folks said that keeping it not at max should help panel lifetime. I do not turn power saver all the way off either, I keep it on auto usually.
-Do NOT use pixel refresher unless the panel actually needs it. People on rtings and tech forums said that all this does is wear down the panel faster, especially if it doesn't need it. I ran it once after 6 months mostly just because, but the internet said don't use it regularly.
-Make sure firmware is up to date. The cx was apparently quite rough out of the box, so to speak, but firmware updates have fixed many issues, and improved features like VRR etc.
-People said that reds/oranges/yellows etc wear out a panel faster than greys and whites. So what I do is keep my attribute and skill bar on dynamic/automatic, whatever the setting is so they only turn on during combat or changes. The only ui elements that are on all the time during regular play for me are compass and target reticule.

Despite not having any issues, I would like to reiterate that it would be nice regardless to have more ui options. I tried out fallout 76 and it had a hud opacity option, and given my current setup of just having compass and targeting reticule on, that's a setting I'd love to see in ESO.

I have read somewhere that there is a trick you can do if you afraid that OLED screen burn. You basically adjust screen postilion 1 pixel up/down & left/right every now and then. Some OLEDs have this future build-in and do it automatically.

I have a LG OLED that is two years old and the screen completely died, it has a giant green blotch in the center of it that is spreading bigger and bigger. There was a class action suit about the issue in Korea, but the US was left out of that.

There is supposed to be a "pixel refresher" function that periodically runs to prevent the burn in, and that appears to work, it just does not do anything to the green cloud of death.

I'll never get one of their A/V products again, and I would not recommend playing games on it.
